I don't remember having to sign any contracts during the purchase.

This statement is a little silly. I have stayed at Disney resorts many times, and the conditions of purchase regarding the mugs are clearly set forth by Disney. Did you sign a contract when you grabbed some chips from a bin? If the answer is no, then you must have been free to take them without paying money. Lets not reduce a rational conversation to the level of glib comments.

Signing is not necessary. It is implied in the purchase. There are signs clearly posted that dictate the terms.

WDW did not sign a contract saying there would be a variety of cold carbonated sodas available either. But I bet if all they had after you bought your mug was warm flat Mr. Pibb you would be the first to raise a complaint.

The thing is, it's not even the stealing that gets to me. You know what? I steal stuff too. I have in the past, and I am pretty sure I will again in the future. But I call it for what it is. If the caishier at the grocery store forgets to charge me for a item, and I walk out with it, I stole it. I have done that very thing and that makes me a theif. I have no qualms about admitting it. It's not somthing that I am proud of, or that I brag about.

What I do NOT do is make up some way to justify it in my mind. "It's a big store, they can afford it" "Everybody does it" "I am sure they overcharged me before" "I shop here so much I should get a break" All of those are just cop outs to make you feel better when you know that you have stole something.

Me, I don't re-use my resort mugs, but if I did I would be the first to admit it's stealing. I have yet to see somone on any message board have the courage and vindiction to be comfortable with their character and admit what they are doing. It's allways justified by some lame excuse.

I guess I am just an honest theif.

I'm sorry but I just have to laugh when someone posts this kind of question (without doing a search, apparently) and thinks they are the first person to ask this question/think to do this...

It isn't even the practice that bothers me as much as the attitude about it. Especially when it's so "ooh look at me being so sneaky" about it kind of deal.

11-12 dollars compared to what I and many others have spent at WDW.

When I'm already spending hundreds or thousands on a vacation, another $12 isn't worth the dent in my karma bank. I'd rather spend the money and live honestly, but that's just me. And would you do this anywhere other than Disney World? I think that is what bothers me, when people try to justify this by crying "but Disney gets so much of my money already!" That doesn't make it any more honest.

And like I said in the previous mug thread (I've really got to stop bothering)....I paid for a room at the Beach Club back in 06...so since I paid for it once, I can go back and sleep in it now without paying again, right? If you saw someone filling up a plastic water bottle with soda at the mug stand, would that be okay? Because using an old mug is basically the same. Fast food chains offer "free refills" but I don't remember seeing a sign that they are limited to just that particular day. Guess I'll be rinsing out my Burger King cups and reusing them too...

There's an old saying that if you feel the need to ask if something you're doing (or want to do) is wrong, it probably is.

So it's time for another resort mug "discussion" to be laid to rest.
