Resort housekeeping

Having any kind of empathy for the unique situations housekeeping cast encounter during a global emergency would be asking too much. They are human beings as well. Although I guess they could be thrown some rubber gloves as you said. The understanding and dynamics have changed with the disease—and now the national hiring situation. But that doesn’t completely erase the fear that a housekeeping person may feel entering a hotel room that could potentially be occupied by a family with covid.
Lol. No.

This is a complicated situation and there are many decision factors, but I guarantee you that "the housekeeping staff is living in fear" is not one of them.

That’s what the vaccine is for. Protect yourself. If you want to continue to live in fear then don’t work for Disney, or for that matter anywhere you will be exposed to people. Of course housekeeping employees are human beings and deserve our respect - no one is arguing that. The current housekeeping situation is a WDW corporate issue- no one is calling out the individual cast members who are currently doing the jobs their employer is asking them to do. The cast members in the resorts and mousekeepers especially are some of the hardest working people I’ve encountered in my life. With that being said, we understand the science now and these outdated “light” housekeeping amenities need to be brought back to the service Disney is known to provide or they should discount the rooms. Plain and simple. Don’t turn this into something it’s not. For the cost of a resort room, housekeeping services should be provided in full now. If staffing is the issue, then that’s a whole other beast in and of itself. The govt giving people handouts = no work force. Why would they clean a resort room when they can make more siting at home doing nothing

The less people in my room the better- I opted out of mousekeeping

guess I’ll just trudge through the knee high pile of shampoo bottles and musty towels on my way to the freezer to grab a half eaten mickey bar.

In the State of Florida Disney is not allowed to ask a guest if they have been vaccinated. Therefore for safety reasons Disney must assume that each guest has not been vaccinated.

And for that reason you still want to limit being indoors for more than 15 minutes in someone's personal space. And that is the primary reason why Disney has not returned housekeeping 2 full service daily. You can agree or disagree with that science but that is the science and the CDC recommendations. Again it has nothing to do with vacuuming and wearing gloves.

The science has changed in that we now know what is more important not be indoors in a contained space near others rather than washing everything down. The housekeepers are still going in that contained space. It's still about following the guidance. I know you don't want to believe that but that's really what it is.

Later when the CDC says it is okay to be indoors with everybody and don't wear a mask regardless of who is and who isn't vaccinated, and we will eventually get to that, then let's see what Disney does.

And again- Disney employees should get vaccinated if they are worried about entering someone’s resort room to do their job. Protect yourself. Since you are all about quoting CDC guidelines then why ignore the guidelines that state if you’re vaccinated you don’t have to wear a mask indoors OR outdoors. The housekeeping staff wouldn’t need to worry if they are vaccinated. If you don’t agree with the vaccine then don’t work in a housekeeping job for WDW. It’s very very simple.

That is not the science! That's not even close to the science. That has NEVER been the science.

For a situation to be considered high-risk, ALL of the following must be true:
  1. Person A unvaccinated
  2. Person B unvaccinated
  3. Indoors
  4. Unmasked
  5. Within 3 feet
Even if my housekeeper and I were both unvaccinated, I can't give him COVID while he's in my room and I'm in Epcot. That's not how it works.

And again- Disney employees should get vaccinated if they are worried about entering someone’s resort room to do their job.
They are vaccinated and they're not worried about entering anyone's room.

Okay. Write your letter to Disney. Don't yell at me. The point was it was not about the vacuum and gloves.

This is likely why disney has not change yet, read the

"Response to a case in an indoor environment"

Also... Sorry. I did not mean to trigger you.

Thanks for keeping it civil. Appreciate the civil response. I don't necessarily disagree with anything you've just said. I'm just saying it is not about the vacuuming, gloves etc.....

The concern Disney has is time in room. Likewise the CDC recommendations you have mentioned are very new and Disney has not had time to adjust for those.

I don't know that Hilton is officially offering that. It's certainly not on their website. It actually specifies that the waldorf-astoria and pacific Asian properties are the only properties that still will offer daily housekeeping service. Otherwise you can call and ask for additional amenities and Linens.

It's actually a the hilton ceo that does not anticipate the return to daily housekeeping service.

It’s right there on their page call to have services scheduled. I’ve done it at a few properties and haven’t had any trouble. You do have to call to have the room cleaned.

We hav 3 people here with long hair, so it was STILL everywhere on the floor

I’m trying to wrap my head around this. So your family is basically shedding and they choose to just leave all the disgusting hair on the ground for someone else to have to pick up. I understand the desire to not “work” while on vacation. But if there was enough of my hair on the ground to be visibly noticeable I would pick it up. It’s not hard. It’s basic hygiene and common decency.

Disney should install emergency Swiffers in each room. :)

Some act in a different manner when on vacation as compared to being at home .

A hotel - let alone a resort - should have full housekeeping. I can’t believe this is even a discussion. Come on people…you deserve it.
If you haven't stayed in a hotel lately the housekeeping of before will not return. It is business not personal. Now if you want superior housekeeping , my cruise line cabin was cleaned 2x a day.

You get exactly what the policy states when you make your reservation. I understand things are getting better with the pandemic, but the policy won’t change overnight. So you may have to clean up a little after the mess you made, or take some trash out. Big Deal!! Working on your vacation? Phuleeeeeeeeeze!!!

This may be your experience, but it's still not mine. We just returned from our sixth onsite deluxe stay since reopening and this time we: took out the trash daily, took used towels to a housekeeper/cart, asked for fresh towels and some body wash a couple of times, and cleaned everything ourselves. The housekeeper/security check did not go beyond the door to the room except one time, she came in and flushed the toilet and ran the water in the sink. (???). She also asked if there was anything we needed and we mentioned that one of the vanity light bulbs had burned out. (It was still out when we left.) We had a second security check during the week where we were just asked if everything was ok. There was no dusting, light or otherwise, there was no vacuuming, there was no proactive replacement of anything. At the end of our week, I stripped the bed because I completely forgot I hadn't just spent a week at my own house.

Sounds like you should have went to the front desk and asked to speak to a leader?

Thanks for letting us know it was your 6th time staying at a Deluxe Resort. You have me beat 4-2. Both of my stays were perfectly inline with the housekeeping guidelines. The housekeeping is the same wether you stay at a value resort or a deluxe resort. Exchanging towels and emptying trash on your own is no big deal. Once housekeeping staffing gets back to normal levels, perhaps things will be better on your next 6 stays.

A deluxe resort should have full housekeeping - a completely reasonable expectation.
