Resort Arcades, is it time for them to go?

I believe the arcades should all be replaced with a mega interactive experience unique to each resort. Kind of like that Star Wars virtual reality thing.

Naw, leave them. for the little amount of space they take up, they aren't a big drain on resources. I see a few kids in there time to time when I even notice them. usually a kid will pop in there while they are at the pool. I wouldn't wast the money tearing them out and putting something else in.
Like previous posters said, do we really need more gift shops.

Sure! I believe they should be replaced with free resort specific lounges with light refreshments for the enjoyment of guests! Let’s see how unrealistic we can get. lol
I actually don't think either of the two would be unrealistic at all. I also never said it would be free, either.

Meet and greet for Wreck it Ralph? or other characters that may be connected to the resort...
No I was just justifying how arcades are/can still be relevant within today’s society/WDW
Although that’s not a bad idea, considering the fact that DisneyQuest’s gone, guests need a new place to meet Ralph. Maybe they can place a new meet n greet over at the Contemporary.

He could bounce around to different resorts in their arcade areas . We stay at Pop Century, and it might be nice to have a character from the decor around the park. There are huge statues around POP, they couldn't do many of them like Lady and the Tramp or Roger Rabbit, but there is a Mowgli and Baloo that could be a meet and greet. AOA could have a pick of many, and All Star Movies has a few choices, Sorcerer Mickey, Woody or Buzz.
Personally, we like the arcades, there is usually at least once during our trip where we have some time to fill, the arcades seem to be perfect for it.

I would use the arcades with my change from food courts. But ever since the arcades now use "charge cards" I have forfeited using the arcades. They were fun--we love pinball and shooting basketball games.

So because of the mandatory cards, we have stopped using the arcades.

I've never been in a hotel arcade (including Disney) ever... Nor do I have any kids of an age that would. But they definitely serve a purpose. For example, the aforementioned hurricane - or even just rainy days when all the kids can't go in the pool. They have to go somewhere. The space isn't that large or other needs so great that would be served by removing the arcades... And replace them with what, exactly? Most resorts already have plenty of food and gift shops.
