Requesting rooms at deluxe Resorts

I am booked to travel the 12-19 of this comming sept. We are staying at CSR and getting the preferred room with king bed (two of us going).

I have been tossing around the idea of going to the poly so we can be on the monorail plus that is my fav hotel!! It just became that money wise this can happen!

This may seem stupid but I am a little worried about booking it for these reasons. I dont want to be out in the wings where I would be close to the TTC and not the main hall. Also from what I know a King bed is only a request and not guarenteed. I dont want to switch rooms during our vacation and my girl friend (hopefully becomming my fiance during this trip :sohappy:) do need space to sleep. The way we do a disney vacation is pretty much a marathon with power naps haha. So sleep quality is a must.

How have you folks been with requesting room locations and king beds at deluxe resorts?

9 times out of 10 we get our request for a King. If you really want a king I would not change to the Poly. They only have kings in the suites. The regular rooms to not offer kings like the rest of the resorts. Also if king is important make sure that this is the only request on the room and that will increase your changes of getting it. Good luck!! and have a great trip!! Hope she says YES!!!!!

I would definitely switch to the Poly. The time you will save in travel is key. Good luck with the proposal. Disney Florist is great for these occasions. I used them when I proposed to my wife. Anything that you can dream up, they can make happen.

The likely hood of you getting the king bed room request at the Poly is just above zero. Every bit of official and unofficial info I have says the same thing. As mentioned before, the only rooms that have king beds are club level suites starting at the honeymoon suite. The chance of them upgrading you to a suite that comes in at nearly double the price to honor that request is pretty low. Room location on the other hand should not be a problem.

well that kinda stinks.........

King size beds are the only reason I will NEVER stay at the Poly. (unless I get the chance to stay there when I go without my DH). Have you checked into the Wilderness Lodge. Still very close and just a short boat ride away from the monorail and MK. We have always been able to get a king size while staying here. WL is still a deluxe resort but will save $$ over the Poly. We love it at the WL!!!!

When we stay at Deluxes (which has been for the past 7 years), we do several steps to requesting the room. It may be over kill. It may not even have any bearing on where we are put, but we do it anyway. Step 1, calling up WDW when we make the reservation and having them put it in the system. Call WDW after the reservation is paid for (so after 45 days) and again, ask if the request is in the system and confirm that it is correct. Call the week of and then again day of check in. And if we get to our room, I have no issue calling or going back to the front desk. I have told this story before, and I am not exactly proud of my reaction, however, it is what happened so here you go. In 2009, my DH and I paid for a 10 day vaca at GF with Deluxe Dining, tours, etc. A big trip for us! So we get to our room, and the Mickey Mouse bust lamp had a broken nose and a piece of furniture was broken. I called front desk from room while the bell hop was there. And I was told that there are no other rooms. I FLIPPED out! FLIPPED! Crying, yelling - again, not proud but I was so upset. The reason for the yelling was that that wasn't supposed to be our room. When we checked in they said our room wasn't ready. We said that was fine and went to lunch and shopping around GF and then got a call saying our room was ready early. They "fixed up" a room for us so that we wouldn't have to wait as long. So I tried to explain this to the person on the phone and asked they give us the room we were originally supposed to have and they said they couldn't b/c they had already given it away. I was like??? HOW!!???!! They gave us this "fixed" up room in order to get us in but if our original room was ready at the same time, why didn't they give us that one. I tossed the phone to my DH b/c I went into the bathroom and sobbed and the poor bell hop, he was like :confused: So the bell hop gets on the phone and was like you HAVE to find this couple another room and they did. They upgraded us to concierge b/c of the issue.

My point of sharing, is that I totally understand spending all this time and money planning and getting there and your room does not meet your expectations. I totally understand! But Disney does try and make it right and give you what you want. Every other trip we have had, we got a wonderful room in the location we requested.

We requested a king size bed at the Beach Club three years ago and had to wait for our room much longer than normal because:

1. The people in our room stayed way past the designated check out time

2. The resorts don't really have all that many king sized beds to begin with. Since it's a family resort, most beds are queens or doubles. Ever since this happened we simply take the queen beds.

Hope that helps!

As the others have said, there are no standard rooms with a king sized bed at the Polynesian but I would suggest booking the honeymoon suite. It not only has a king sized bed but a Jacuzzi tub, access to the lounge in the suites building and the Hawaii club level building and it is the same price as a lagoon view club level room (much less than the other suites). It would be an amazing experience and you will know exactly where your room is.

They just redesigned the suites and I was one of the first allowed in to take photos. Here are photos I have a lot more photos on my Tikiman facebook page. http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/quick-longhouses/quick-tonga?start=1
