I am actually of the opinion that WDW doesn't need another coaster, especially in MK where the newest ride at this point is a coaster.
I feel the same as you.

I think you're right, but a girl can dream, right? The current theme of the Speedway really doesn't fit any part of the park, so I'd like to see a change happen there. Sugar Rush and Tron would really create a nice berm between FL and TL.Thought Martin shot down Sugar Rush as the new theme to the speedway, but I could be wrong. This thread has been moving fast.
That isn't the story of Mystic Manor though, and 90% of the artifacts in Mystic Manor are not based on animals. Dinosaur and Dinoland fit because they are based on Animals of the past, and Dinosaur the ride's main message is about mass extinction and it's effect on our planet. Mystic Manor is about you going on a tour of a mansion that is filled with artifacts and those artifacts coming to life because of a music box. The only thing that is somewhat related is the Monkey and that's it. In order for it to fit in the park you would have to change the entire story and purpose of the ride to the point where it wouldn't be Mystic Manor anymore.
I did myself a favor and didn't watch anything about it. The screens were ok but the physical effects combined with the sounds and music, I was completely giddy. You couldn't slap the smile off of my face. I am really sorry you didn't get to ride it friend.I really wish I would have been able to ride that! I've never heard one person say a bad thing about it.
I flat out refused to go in there when my family was at Disney in '05. Walking by Alien Encounter too many times as a kid scared the living daylights out of me, and I didn't want to have anything to do with Stitch because of it. Sure, I didn't have a ton of fun waiting for my family to exit the attraction, but I think I got the better end of the deal.
From watching videos of it though, that AA is a work of art. It deserves to have a home somewhere in the park, just not where it is. Two ideas on where it could go:
- One of the indoor areas on the PeopleMover
- Create an enclosed area on the train (like DL), and make Stitch wreak havoc for a bit near the Tomorrowland station.
I really wish Stitch could have a better presence in MK. He's a hilarious, fun character that got wasted on a horrible attraction. I would love to see them move the animatronic over to adventure land to make a new attraction based on his ability of being a "pet" rather than an invader from space. Perhaps a Lilo and Stitch show to replace Tiki Room?? Wishful thinking.

Look the only reason why I care about this in the slightest is because there has been an extremely thorough effort made to keep Animal Kingdom cohesive and in line with it's values. I have a massive amount of respect for that and given the different forms of management that ravaged through the parks in it's short life I'm amazed that the park is still that way. You can trivialize that all you want, but I'd rather not see all that hard work go to waste again (like Epcot).Well thank goodness you aren't employed by the Disney company. I used to ask for Lego sets for my birthday and Christmas and wouldn't dare to build anything but what was in the instructions. Thank goodness there are people that can take those blocks and make them into something different.
First off, I never want to be in a position where I'm defending Tom Corless. I recognize the position, but I also recognize that many people are quick to lump him and Jim Hill together when that's not really fair either. I've challenged Corless countless times publicly because he throws far too much ridiculous stuff out there to be taken too seriously. Jim's missteps on rumors have at least been grounded in reality. Some of those other sites were also peddling GotG to take over Mission Space. And Tron to go to UoE. That's not happening. When one says a whole lot of different stuff then one is bound to get it right... as long as no one remembers all the things one got wrong.
Also, @marni1971 was on the side of "no Tron at all" but changed months ago to "Tron is now possible, just not the leading contender."
This is not a case of 'they' got it right and 'we' got it wrong. It's more complicated than that.
I think I'd rather that Skippy (the healthy version) go into Cosmic Ray's and hang out with Sonny. The, well, "fried" version of Skippy can go someplace else (like the Peoplemover, that thing needs more mini-show scenes).3: Cosmic Rays.
4: Stays where he is with a better storyline and 4D effects.
Sure you could stick it in the back of the jungle and it might not disrupt the rest of the land/park but that doesn't mean it will positively contribute to the flow and theme of the park and certainly doesn't mean it fits with the park. Just because guests won't question it doesn't make it right. Sure eventually disney might break from DAK's themeatic continuity but that doesn't mean we should encourage it. I for one don't want to see the only Florida park that has stayed true to its theme turn into another MK, Epcot, or DHS. I don't want to deprive WDW of MM. I would love to have the attraction, but I don't want to see it placed somewhere it doesn't belong.Because a mysterious attraction in the middle of an abandoned looking trail in Asia can house mystic manor with no disruption to the flow of the land and the message of the park can still be intact because no one will question it. Its only a matter of time until they break from that anyway. DHS and EPCOT are already there. Why deprive the states of a great attraction? And even if we go with the opinion that the yeti fits, it will take very little effort to interject a storyline from India or China that will fit completely.
Google "Walt Disney" and "family."
Not to call people out here, but none of the above posters have been flawless or impeccable. A general rule of thumb when discussing any of this is for multiple "trusted sources" to support a rumor. That gives it a lot more credibility before an official announcement.I think it's more the personality of the person posting.
You have guys like @marni1971 who are forthcoming about almost anything- blue sky, just tossed around, etc- and lays it all out there.
Then you have guys like @WDW1974 who is also constantly throwing out truths with a massive edge and opinion (which I used to dislike but now find entertaining- it's great).
Then you have guys like @whylightbulb who speaks very little, but when they do- you better listen- because his track record is impeccable. Others could be like him- only saying concrete things, but they choose to toss in loose rumors as well.
@Lee @articos and @Magic Feather are the other 3.
Outside of them, everyone else just regurgitates what others say.
Guys like Jim Hill I think are more like Martin in that he gives a lot of information- some that might even be "loose rumors" floating around wdw with a dose of spirit. To think he doesn't have sources and hear things is naive at best. He just likes to daydream and toss out opinions as well. The key difference is he gets paid. Our dear Martin does it simply because he's awesome.
Regardless, I trust our 6 guys more we have a badass group. Love the info from all of them.
Lack of creativity.General question for the thread-
Why do so many of you want clones of rides from other parks?
From my perspective I think it's good for different parks to have different offerings. Not everything has to be the same. Original park exclusive rides would be nice, imo.
Honestly if you were to clone Mystic Manor, then there would be almost no reason to visit Hong Kong Disneyland at all.General question for the thread-

Tron doesn't take place in outer space at all though...?
