That is incorrect, Animal Kingdom's theme is about Animals of the past, present, and those of the imagination. The park's main message however is conservation, it has been since day one, and Mystic Manor does not fit that theme, stop trying. The park you are looking for with an adventure/exploration theme is Islands of Adventure.

The nice thing about this topic is you can have your opinion and I could have mine. Disney has placed rides with looser themes. I'm my opinion, it would fit just as much as Dinosaur and Dinoland ( I like both). So a scientist can send you into the past to collect a dinosaur but the S.E.A can't look for ancient artifacts based around animals?

Hope you are right. A poster was suggesting that it would be removed.

I think people who say things like that don't understand roller coasters, or people, or business.lol. I'm not worried about Space Mountain going away :)

The species in the ride did exist. And did look (according to science at the time) generally like those depicted in the attraction.

Your stance is "because I say so" also. You've given no reasoning about why the attraction would fit in DAK.
Because a mysterious attraction in the middle of an abandoned looking trail in Asia can house mystic manor with no disruption to the flow of the land and the message of the park can still be intact because no one will question it. Its only a matter of time until they break from that anyway. DHS and EPCOT are already there. Why deprive the states of a great attraction? And even if we go with the opinion that the yeti fits, it will take very little effort to interject a storyline from India or China that will fit completely.

If tron happens can Space close after tron opens for a complete "DL Style" rebuild? That give MK 2 "new" back to back "coasters" to advertise.

With Tron open, that becomes a much easier pill for operations to swallow, sooner or later. But I bet they kick the can down the road as far as possible.

So..... about Tomorrowland....

Martin said that this is going to majorly change this side of the park (and I'd have to agree, just looking at the size and scope of this coaster). From what insiders on this site are saying, Space Mtn and the Speedway are staying. Tomorrowland definitely has gotten some aesthetic upgrades lately (new look for CoP, reddish colored space rocks are now metallic blues and purples). Are we getting a 70s/80s retro vibe? How would this change the rest of Tomorrowland? Are we still going to have the following attractions:
  • Stitch's Great Escape (Disney make up your minds about what you want to do with this thing)
  • Buzz Lightyear
  • MILF
  • Astro Orbiters
  • Carousel of Progress (I'm assuming this one is safe no matter what)
  • PeopleMover (if it stays- do we get a new track that goes near Tron?)
Really, I just want to know if there will be any semblance of a story in this side of the park. New Tomorrowland attempted this, but the space port story for the most part has gone away due to the losses of Alien and Timekeeper.

That isn't the story of Mystic Manor though, and 90% of the artifacts in Mystic Manor are not based on animals. Dinosaur and Dinoland fit because they are based on Animals of the past, and Dinosaur the ride's main message is about mass extinction and it's effect on our planet. Mystic Manor is about you going on a tour of a mansion that is filled with artifacts and those artifacts coming to life because of a music box. The only thing that is somewhat related is the Monkey and that's it. In order for it to fit in the park you would have to change the entire story and purpose of the ride to the point where it wouldn't be Mystic Manor anymore.

If Tommorowland East is to become a Digital Future World by means of entering a Arcade relm... Wouldn't the most logical option for Speedway be to continue with the plans to convert it into WIR/SR another inside an Arcade Game concept?!
I was just thinking about the arcade that used to be over there. It'd be nice to have some thematic consistency and create an arcade mini land, starring Sugar Rush and Tron.

If they would just give the Stitch AA a hot dog cannon and let him randomly fire chili dogs into the crowd, that would make up for all the attraction's perceived faults.

I am going back to my old post of I like the idea of tomorrow land being a "space port" or "space land".. makes it much more cohesive and doesn't out date it self as quickly. Tron wouldn't fit into this at all.

In it's current iteration it definitely is beyond its shelf life. Its a shell of it's former self- I cant think of another roller coaster in any theme or amusement park domestically that employs more trim brakes.

If anyone thinks SM isn't beyond it's shelf-life, I ask that you ride Disneyland's version and then come back and talk to me. It needs a complete rebuild of the tracks.

Things like brakes, track work, etc are not complete rebuilds..nor do they mean that a ride is past it's life to the point of needing bulldozed.

I don't even think Space Mountain is in the "rough ride" category, not even in the slightest bit...but I realize that other people do.

Well thank goodness you aren't employed by the Disney company. I used to ask for Lego sets for my birthday and Christmas and wouldn't dare to build anything but what was in the instructions. Thank goodness there are people that can take those blocks and make them into something different.

:hilarious:
I flat out refused to go in there when my family was at Disney in '05. Walking by Alien Encounter too many times as a kid scared the living daylights out of me, and I didn't want to have anything to do with Stitch because of it. Sure, I didn't have a ton of fun waiting for my family to exit the attraction, but I think I got the better end of the deal.

From watching videos of it though, that AA is a work of art. It deserves to have a home somewhere in the park, just not where it is. Two ideas on where it could go:
  1. One of the indoor areas on the PeopleMover
  2. Create an enclosed area on the train (like DL), and make Stitch wreak havoc for a bit near the Tomorrowland station.

Sooooo ... how about that Tomorrowland Speedway ...

Possible themes for the Speedway overhaul / refresh / overlay or whatever other word is appropriate? Let's not start some pointless semantics discussion, pleeeeeeeease ;)

Cars is one option presumably?

What about Herbie? As in The Love Bug, not that LL rehash. I think that could be cute ....
