Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

I loved those stairs and the carpeting, and it just screamed so 80's, I really really miss it!

If the Communicore buildings are white with huge windows you have to clean them all the time, but if you paint them dark colors and put huge decals over the windows you don' t have to cleans them all the time, and it also helps hide the fact that there is nothing inside them

I always find it incredibly hysterical the amount of attention frieking paint schemes get around here. Some of you want it "back to the way it used to be" and more modern at the same time and it doesn't work that way. Cracks me up. Just like when people freaked out about the purple color of the bathrooms in Tommorowland during the SM refurb.

If you'll notice, not many are actually talking about the paint jobs because, well, what was that old quote that got some politician in trouble "putting lipstick on a pig".
People are talking about how far the current plaza is away from it's original design and original intent. That is the more interesting discussion. How they took a beautiful area, sucked the life and soul out of it, and now are doing literally the cheapest thing they could possibly do to "update" the area by splashing some paint on it.
There is no reason that the park could not be brought back to the original design and intent while making it more modern (or better yet futuristic) at the same time. The EPCOT of old was of sound design and purpose. Getting the park back to that mission statement, while jumping it forward at the same time is NOT impossible, it is exactly what this park was originally intended to be! The only thing that makes it impossible is the fact that folks at Disney will not put money into this park, that was once meant to be the central core to the Florida Project.
This paint job is not what bothers me (and likely others), but it is representative of one of the million problems facing a park that many of us once loved dearly.
But really, hooray paint! That's just what Future World needs! And who needs a plaza designed for reflection when the rest of the park does nothing to inspire it in the first place? And why would we want to inspire people anyway, unless it's inspiring them to buy more merchandise! Future World?!? Who needs that when there is a festival in World Showcase up-charging for food and drinks and maybe a concert from 2/3rds of the remaining living members of some 60's pop-group

Yeah you know, you're right. Let's not worry about paint colors anymore. Or maintenance. Or anything else.
Once you decide it's stupid that the company is (finally) repainting buildings that desperately need updating, then there's simple no sense in bothering to keep the attractions up either, right?
I mean, who cares what colors the buildings fade to?

I'm sorry you don't enjoy and aren't interested in the details of themed entertainment and design and find the conversations of those of us that are interested ridiculous and annoying. However, these details and the design principles are what make the parks work at almost every level outside of the human element. Disney set the standard in themed entertainment and design, so it is only natural that discussion of such takes place here. If you're not interested, don't read it (or comment on it).
