Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

Bit of an overstatement I'd say.

It'd be a pretty nice planet if all "wastelands" had a Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Soarin', Amazing Fountain, among other things.
Future World can use some improvement.
But calling it a "wasteland", that's just "dumb".

Sure, there are a few stand out attractions. But a half dozen (at best) in such a large space does not a proper FW make. Huge swaths of FW are ghost towns... Imagination! Innoventions. Wonders of Life, err, Festival Center...

Saw it for the first time last week. Do not mind the blue/grey coloring at all. In fact it really accentuates the buildings like never before. The other colors....blech. The browns look like the color scheme used in late 80s early 90s McDonalds.

The hallmark of many, many posts in this forum is overstatement and indignation over little things. Calling it a wasteland seems controlled based on many of the previous opinions of many forum posters.

Of course its "not what it used to be when I fist started to visit in ...." is another famed point of view...

Having said all of that, Epcot is getting stale, and a mix up of entertainment acts, and some paint, are at least a start.

Sure - dress it up like a clown and people will be happy - works every time.

I'd be surprised if they did. It feels like locally planned, surplus budget spending.
Dang. I can't imagine that WDI is too pleased, then. I'm surprised that they don't have the authority to order a correction.
Have you seen it in person?

I have. It looks MUCH better than these pictures.
I've seen it in person several times now and it's pretty terrible looking, to me. There's no design sense to it. It's random stripes on buildings that were designed to feel monolithic.

I have as well. While it may look marginally better in person, it's still makes you go, "What were they thinking?" Can't fathom how something like that was approved and implemented.

I have. The gaudy mess does distract from the mutliple still-broken elements of the fountain though.

So painfully true. The fountain is a sad shell of what it used to be. Even after its last big refurb (2009?) it still was in pretty lousy shape.

you really don't notice it too much in person, the colors don't detract from anything, then again it was flower and garden and your eyes are naturally drawn to the colors of the flowers vs the tones of the walls.

I'm glad someone brought this up. I thought it was only my imagination that the fountain used to have far more impact and presence than it does now. It used to draw a crowd to watch the shows. Now everyone keeps on walking.
So, what changed? What is broken?
