Repainting of Epcot Central Plaza?

Funny, because my architect BF liked it, calling it "interesting" and a "very modern color scheme".

The curved line with earthen colour scheme reminds me of Jean Nouvel's influential Musée du Quai Branly. But that is getting close to a decade old by now.

I for one really like the new color scheme. In person the new color scheme gives the plaza a fresh and clean appearance, in the past its been drab and uninteresting. People will like certain sections better than other since color is a very personal choice. Its a bold statement and bold statements always create feelings, both positive and negative.

Wasn't sure how I felt about this the first time I saw pictures and after my last visit in May, but I definitely think I'm starting to like it. Bringing a little life in my opinion. I'm sure this is the first of many steps they have to bring back future world. Only time will tell.

Unrelated question: what's the story on those pink-ish doors? Was that an old theatre or show exit? Or just backstage stuff?

Most likely they're just access for when they need to move large things in and out of the building. (Hard to design exhibits that can only fit through the standard-size sliding doors)

Still not a fan. There are certain areas and angles that do look quite nice, but then there are other sections that are just a chaotic mess (see @Empress Lily's post).

Also, can anyone answer if the red neon is still being used at night? Given this new scheme, I hope that is on the short list for removal.
Yes, the neon is currently the same.

The pictures really did bother me, but seeing it in person was not all that jarring. There's so much going on visually when you're standing in the middle of the plaza - the fountain, the info spot, overhead screens, planters, sidewalks that light up, Spaceship Earth behind you, the entryways to East and West, MouseGears, even the Starbucks - the paint scheme on Innoventions is just one element. Have not seen it yet from the other side, that might be different...

Wow, this is the first time I heard about this. Upon first look at the project it kind of reminds me of the Meadowlands Xanadu project in Jersey (below) , which has been called the ugliest building in Jersey. Anyone else see the resemblance? They are in the process of repainting it to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Suprised they went with this route. Doesn't look too futuristic in my opinion and looks too cartoony. It would have been nice if they went with more monochromatic colors, perhaps painting the base, soffit, and fascia different shades of gray or some other color, then the supports in silver or something. Oh well, nothing I can do about it.

I just saw the additional buildings. Oh Dear. Your eyes don't even know what to focus on it makes me want to look at the ground. A few of the blue-ish areas look OK but it doesn't make up for the visual assault on the eyes.

My impression is it is that same overwhelming feeling one gets when you look at the paint Samples hung up at Home Depot.

Personally i'd like to see it go that dark blueish color with that slate gray color for the pillars completely. Anyone willing to photoshop this idea or a better one together?
