You just excited all the Shut It Downers.

Dude, can you seriously try and come up with something more to say then saying the same thing 20 times a day? I'm not trying to censor you but my god, we get it already. Yes it is what it is, but the irony is things are much more open today than they have been in months. Basically any place you need to go is pretty much open, right? I know, I spent the whole day running around and nothing was actually shut down. I did everything from get a haircut, shopping at the mall for a birthday, went to look for some new furniture, replaced my phone, went grocery shopping, etc, etc. Every place fully open minus restaurants but they are doing outdoor dining again which is plenty here in Long Beach.

At this juncture, basically all the fun stuff that we like such as movies, concerts, sports games and yes, theme parks are still shut down. And it doesn't take a wizard to figure out why since these are mass events, but hopefully by the summer a lot of these will be open as well. But even stuff like parks and beaches are mostly open around me. We actually rented some bikes and rode down our local beach a few weeks ago.

But man, you seem like you need to get out and get some air. You become overly obsessed with this phrase, which is not really all that true anymore outside of schools. It's the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again. Maybe if you walk around your neighborhood, things aren't as shut down as you seem to think they are.

Yeah, sure you're not. No, really. I believe you. This is serious. Sarcasm? Me? No. Never. I absolutely believe you with all my heart.

You don't say anything beyond this phrase. I mean, yeah, we get it. WE GET IT!!!!

But funny, you didn't actually tell me how I am wrong? Dude, 80% of the economy is open at this point. California is suppose to be one of the more strict states and pretty much everything is open minus the stuff I mentioned, so what am I missing? You go to other states, it's all pretty much open as before, just with social distance rules and masks. And sadly the latter is not even a guarantee in some places.

Besides Disneyland, where do you go regularly that is shut down at the moment?

Oh please, that's rich coming from a man with a block list. Is that not the epitome of censure? If you truly believed in free speech you would listen to both sides, regardless if you agree with them or not.

A Bay Area epidemiologist predicts that the pandemic will be prolonged and that it will be years, not months, before we can gain the upper hand on the pandemic. He predicts that the decline in cases won't last and rebound worse than ever with the new variants.

In terms of Disneyland reopening, I have a feeling that it won't be reopening any time soon, not until we do get the upper hand, which will take years, not months.
Years? Decades is more like it. ;)

Just start embracing the (unclever) name-calling and go along with it. As a "shut it downer," I personally got so excited over the idea of Disneyland possibly being closed for years that I ripped my shirt off and ran down the street. No dole whips, Ghost Host, or "wildest ride in the wilderness" for years?? OMG, YAAASSSSS. I'm praying it's decades!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

What's annoying about these discussions is that, AFAIK anyway, if you're here on this board talking about Disneyland, then my guess is there is a 99.9% chance you are a Disneyland fan. I haven't checked everyone's join date here, but I'm also guessing no one signed up here from the Magic Mountain or Universal Studios board just to mock or cheer for Disney to be closed the day it was announced (yeah, they are all closed too, but you get my point ;)).

We are fans. Most of us have gone to this park (or parks) since we were kids and probably gone dozens, if not hundreds of times while spending thousands of dollars in the process that probably could've gone to something actually useful like buying a car or even a house lol. I bet most of us (I certainly did) had a current AP when it was announced the park was shutting down. I didn't buy a thousand-plus dollar AP (several thousand since I include family) with the hopes of not using it. I think you have to believe me when I say that wasn't anywhere in my thought process when I purchased them. I'm going to guess everyone else with one felt the same way. I don't think any of us are 'happy' that one of our biggest past times has been shut down; we simply understand the situation and are mature about it. That's what we call being a mature and rational adult, even for a Disney fan level of an adult. Yes it sucks, but we understand there are simply bigger priorities at hand here. I was hoping it could open sooner, it didn't, so that's life.

Same time, I'm more thankful I'm still around to even think about going again because there are a lot of us (I'm guessing even a few former Disney fans) that no longer have that option due to the situation and that's what all of this is about. So please, stop whining, get perspective and just be thankful when the park does open, you and your family will be around to experience it and will hopefully be able to spend time in the happiest place on Earth for decades to come. If we have to lose a year over it, then we lose a year. Put your big boy pants on and buck up. There are worse problems out there.

The one thing all of us truly want shut down is the virus. That's literally the entire point. It can't run our lives forever, I agree with that, but opening up places where it could spread like wild fire is not the answer either. We can only hope we will finally turn a real corner on this soon. But stop acting like a child because people are simply trying to be rational about something that we're ALL dealing with. All of us. It sucks for everyone, stop acting like one side is 'winning' over the situation....and grow up.

You're preaching to the choir. I agree with all of it. It really makes not a lick of sense to believe that we love seeing Disneyland closed, as DISNEYLAND FANS. But people will name-call and tell themselves things to fuel their frustration with those that don't agree with them. I tend to ignore it, but I think it's time to throw it back and have some fun with it. Maybe he'll stop if we all go along with it lol.

It possibly started with the name-calling. 🤔

As I stated in another thread, politics tends to bring out the worst in people. I don't have a problem with George (I've been called much worse) and, as you may have noticed, I'm not afraid to call out anyone here or anywhere. My relationship with people doesn't matter. I have called out my family members, including my parents, my closest friends, professors, random strangers, etc. We can go to Disneyland together, but if you say or do something problematic, it will be called out.

George and I have always known each other to be on the opposite sides of the political spectrum. That hasn't stopped us from hanging out though and I would meet up with him at the parks in the future again. Some of you have shown your political colors and views, ones that I disagree with, but I'm still looking forward to meeting up to talk s**t about Marvel at DCA lol. If I like someone, I'm not one to let a difference of political views get in the way of friendship, unless those views are extreme, such as racism, homophobia, and bigotry in general. I have no intentions on being friends with someone from the Proud Boys, for example LMAO.

He's an "expert"! You must listen to him and believe him. Because he's an expert.

This is about the tenth time I've said this, but until 2020 I couldn't have even told you what an epidemiologist was, or what they did. I knew vaguely it was something in the medical field, probably just because it had the iologist tag, but that's about it.

But now, after the last 10 months?!? I can use the word epidemiologist in a sentence without even breathing hard!

What a stupid thing for him to predict. The UK variant is running rampant in the UK and cases are plummeting. This sounds more like a Bay Area epidemiologist trying to get his moment on the soap box before America goes back to not caring about science.

I quote you for truth.

What I find absolutely hysterical is that suddenly in 2021 it's now completely acceptable to notate the geographical location of the Covid variants without being called a racist. The UK Variant. The South Africa Variant. The Brazilian Variant. All of those things are true and factual, and should be stated as such.

But in 2020 if anyone dared to say that Covid started in China, or even specifically the city Wuhan, they were branded a racist and a horrible person who would never be allowed to sit at the cool kids table in the cafeteria.

China virus. UK variant. Tell me what the difference is again? ;)

To be fair, we started out saying, “the variant first-discovered in South Africa,” but that’s really freakin cumbersome and, honestly, condescending. It’s already complicated enough explaining how these vaccines work to people; if we don’t limit our condescension, some people are turned off and check-out. We can’t afford that. So, “South African variant” is fine and no more racist than “South African wine.”

In my experience (as a scientist), the problem with many epidemiologists is that, per their training, they’ve been talking for years about a pandemic that would kill millions. Their job is to study such worst-case scenarios so we can be prepared (certainly a worthy endeavor but not one suitable for public consumption. I don’t really need or want to know how many nukes N. Korea has, either). So they feel vindicated now and feel it is their turn to continue sharing these worst-case scenarios now that they can get on TV.

The public health experts, who are trying to actually end the pandemic, understand the dangers of this negativity. The average person needs a bit of information about the vaccines (especially: is it safe? How do I get it?) and then optimism.

“Go get these shots that are a bit unpleasant and we will still be stuck at home in 3 years” is not helpful in any way.

Most people who work in a lab have no business appearing on TV. Let someone who understands science but who is down-to-earth and telegenic break it down with Anderson or Rachel. This is where Dr. Fauci excels.

I’ve never been to Epcot but are you telling me that Fredrick Douglass is not only an AA on the attraction but has his own scene? And yet a certain poster came on here giving that recommendation of how Disney can be more inclusive without ever having been on the attraction? To make matters worse, the post has been up for over 24 hours and nobody corrected them until you? 😩 As we all know, this is why attractions like Splash Mountain are going away. Not because its problematic but because there is no stopping the cancel culture machine that wants to devour everything in its path. 90% of these people couldn’t even tell you why something is problematic or racist. That or they don’t want to lose their job. God forbid you say anything on social media that doesn’t jive with the far left.

I have been to Epcot, and I honestly could not remember. And I did scroll through a video to double check before suggesting, but obviously I must have skipped that scene as I skimmed through it.

Once corrected I did admit to that.

But because I made a mistake does that mean Disney can’t do more?
