I doubt this goes anywhere. Those names are awful. It comes across to me as a way to see if any other name registers better with guests. I mean, look at the tragic names for the DHS rename. That went nowhere and they said they were keeping the name.

They survey about a lot of things.

All good to hear, all things considered. Losing a space like that would be baffling. Thanks!

It's time they realized they need to expand, not replace. Sure, a few things do actually "need" to be replaced but man, it feels like, say even 5 or 10 years ago they would have gutted the theater and routed the queue through it. LOL. I'm really glad the theater seems "secure". (or they would have turned it into an "interactive meet and greet" LOL)

thats still a big concern for me for the tiki room, it was a rumor not that far back, but hopefully just that, a rumor. Ok sorry back to France.

Yep. I still think, locally, they have the same mindframe: "replace". But I think certain things are being forced on them. Just an observation. I mean we still have Energy and GMR being replaced. So they have the 'quick fix' mindset while, I'm guessing, the suits in Burbank, want actual expansions and use of dead space ... which is why I'm glad they made the right choice and kept the theater in France and expanded in the back. That's what you're supposed to do. Now I know not everyone loves the idea of Rat coming but it will be really nice to have another dark ride. Screens or not. And the park really needs new things. I'd love non-IP but sadly we're not at that place right now. So I look for what "fits" and Rat is a good choice.

See, back on France :)

PS. I remain worried about Tiki room too. But I also have wishful thinking they want Moana in an actual ride (she can replace Mermaid at the Studios, too, but I have a feeling they want Pixar there). But who knows? I wanted to gripe about her meeting in the Tiki Room at the holiday party ... but we're gonna get back off-topic. LOL. Unfortunately, Moana seems really fitting (from their perspective, not mine) for the Tiki room based on what they've done in the past. I hope they stop being lazy. I'd rather they put Stitch in the Tiki room if they "have" to change it (they should just leave it alone, personally ...). But back to France ...

yes agree, esp with the 50th around the corner it would be tragic to lose the tiki room as such. alright I know, France. I dont mind Rat either it just somewhat bothers me we will never see a new country now on that expansion pad, but since that hasnt worked well in 30 years might as well start using it for expansion of other things.

I mean, we're possibly getting Brazil without an attraction (or has that changed?) so I'm not against certain expansion plots being used as attractions. Because it's behind the pavilion it works for me. If it were on the side taking up all that space, I may feel differently. It just depends how they expand. Both are needed, but rides, at this point, should probably be a little bit more of a priority. Unfortunately they're in this spot because of two decades of lackluster or non-existent investment.

It would have been nice to have had a version of Sindbad from Tokyo in Morocco. That always felt more fitting for Epcot than the Tokyo audiences (the first version, the storybook version is more fitting for Tokyo audiences and the MK "only my kids matter" crowd)

EDIT: I take more issue with the Norway "expansion" because it's a meet and greet. And it takes up a nice chunk of space on the side of the pavilion. That's just one of my problems with the Norway expansion.

Remy's Dinner Dash feels like a choice they'd make, if any of them become a reality. (But the name still makes me cringe)

But I'm all here for Remy's Kitchen Cabernet!

Is Rat using the entire expansion pad or will it only use the back half like originally discussed freeing up the front half for something else?

It looks like there is enough space left over for maybe a very small pavilion or a smaller attraction for Morocco.

How much can that space hold though? I'd imagine a restaurant is the most likely scenario if they ever decide to touch it.

Assuming the backstage access road needs to remain intact, there looks to be just under 25,000 square feet of space to work with. That's enough for a few restaurants and shops if they want to go the new pavilion route. Or if they want to add to Morocco, that space could fit a small-scale dark ride or a theater show.

Best way to the lowest common denominator? Survey the public. It's really a shame the suits don't trust the creatives do their job. Let WDI name it and move on. I can't help but wonder what the annual guest survey budget is. Surveys are fine for gauging customer service but terrible for creative decision making.
