I can get onboard with thisThey also need to rename it now. Still calling it Epcot is an offence to Epcot.

I was already looking at splitting up our summer Disney trip with Universal given that they have a bunch of new stuff and we will have gone to Disney in the spring. Hadn't pulled the trigger yet but I think this locks in a few hotel days there and the 15 month Uni AP. I can't complain too much without voting with my money
I think a soft opening will be in order for Aug/Sep to draw the crowds. It seems totally reasonable to me to give an October date to have a date out there and then to reevaluate if something changes strongly to the positive.
I am not saying it will move up, I just wouldn’t be shocked if it did.
Not my definition. That depends on your definition of “caution regarding the pandemic”
I disagree, but discussion boards wouldn’t be much of a discussion if everyone agreed.
All valid questionsI think the bigger question is, will both Tron and Guardians open next year? Or will they push one back to 2023? Will they time TRON’s opening to Splash’s closing? Or will they close Splash early because “We don’t need that many E-Tickets right now. We’re Disney! They will pay anyways.”?
It’s not a hill just an opinion. I don’t mean anything against anyone who doesn’t like the new EPCOT direction....I don’t know if you picked a good hill on this one.
Had to cancel 2 trips already, so I was hoping to get in 3 this year. I'm even an upcharge apologist in many situations. But even I have to draw the line somewhereWhat’s sad is you’re much more “hardline” still around here than most![]()
...my odds at the lottery or having Charlize Theron seek me out and proclaim she’s “searched her entire life for me...” are much betterI very much doubt it
my gut ... is if they can get both ready and running and nothing dramatic with the virus occurs they will do everything possible to open tron and guardians during the 18 month 50th anniversary and keep splash open until after. I think they wanted to do alot more for the 50th and at this stage just want to make it as big and grand as possible.I think the bigger question is, will both Tron and Guardians open next year? 10/1 is this fiscal year. Disney works on a week based fiscal year system, not a month based on like most companies; October 2nd will be the last day of Fiscal 2021.I'm guessing the bean counters are expecting there is some kind of goldilocks zone where they will be able to have pent up demand come out in the summer and restrictive enough operations to justify not opening anything until the next FY. Frankly, I would expect most nighttime shows to be mothballed until 10/1 as well.

Or if Splash retheme is delayed indefinitely will they close SpaM for refurbishment as Tron opens?I think the bigger question is, will both Tron and Guardians open next year? But why? Who’s coming to see these new attractions? Locals? In 2022, when international and distant domestic guests (hopefully) start to return, they’re going to have Star Wars Land, Mickey, and Ratatouille brand new to them. That’s just the people that haven’t been since 2019. There are also tons who haven’t been for a longer while, so Pandora and TSL might be new to them. Why blow their load when they can bring even more people back in 2023 and beyond, after their 2022 (50th celebration) trip.my gut ... is if they can get both ready and running and nothing dramatic with the virus occurs they will do everything possible to open tron and guardians during the 18 month 50th anniversary and keep splash open until after. That being said they might close splash pirates jungle cruise space ship earth not reopen presidents and not have guardians or tron ready.
Space? I don’t think that’s happening until someone gets injured. Or late into the decade. Whichever comes first.Or if Splash retheme is delayed indefinitely will they close SpaM for refurbishment as Tron opens?
I'm hoping Summer 2021 ends up being more accurate than Winter 2019Yes, I’m...surprised. As with so many things during COVID-19, we’ve never seen anything like this (sitting on a finished ride for 6 months). Better change the “Summer 2021” sign real quick.
The point of opening a new ride is to increase the number of guests going through the turnstiles. If there's a dead time, you'd want people to come during it.The times of year when nobody comes anyway?
How is that gonna work?
