I go to DLP a few times a year and have recently noticed that a lot of the CM’s behaviour is also influenced by the weather. Sounds weird, but it’s been like this in my experience. On a beautiful summer day most are very happy and kind and willing to help. Put that beside a cold and somber day in january and it’s really the complete opposite! Definitely not an excuse, but I’ve noticed it.

About Rat, I do like the ride and it has some great potential. But the whole thing comes apart (for me) with the ride vehicles not tilting and failing in creating a feeling of running, jumping etc. Most of the time they position you in front of the screen and you just sit there, watching a screen until it’s time to move to the next room. It doesn’t pull you in the screen/action and if you just look forward, you always see the floor which ruins the illusion of the screens. If you look up, the screens are huge and impressive. But most people look forward and miss that. The few real sets are the magic (especially the pantry and Paris rooftops in the beginning) and should’ve been used more. But then those 3D glasses unfortunately make it all so much darker. So the ride’s got some pros and (more imo) cons.

Really needed more tweaks imho, but still an enjoyable ride.

Knowing OLC in Tokyo, the new BTATB ride won’t have these problems and will be amazing. Makes me wish we got that instead of Rat..

BATB could easily end up in DHS. I think I’d prefer it there than the World Showcase.

True, but Frozen never mentions any country besides its imaginary one. It just happens to have adopted much of its artistic design choices from Scandinavia.
Okay, like I said, only slightly better. 🤷‍♂️

Having ridden FEA, it has some really nice and impressive things in it, but it’s really choppy, like something you’d find at Efteling, and it’s rather out of place in Epcot. I’m hopeful Ratatouille is a better complement to World Showcase.

I'm struggling to think of a comparison. All I can say is that I found the ride immensely enjoyable--probably my favourite attraction during my last visit to Disneyland Paris. I think it'll make a wonderful addition to WDW.

We rode it over the summer. I'd say the ride type fits better with what we experienced at Universal, and not with what WDW offers. In that sense, Rat will be a unique ride in WDW (maybe similar in some ways to the new Mickey ride?). I do have to disagree with one of your earlier points, however. Though parts of the dialogue were obviously in French, other parts were in English and we never had any trouble following the plot. We enjoyed the ride very much.

I’m glad you enjoyed the ride! I’m not the person who commented on the language, so I think you’re confusing me with another poster. I agree that the ride wasn’t at all difficult to follow.

Spider-Man is actually what came to my mind when I thought of the type of unique ride experience you get with Rat. There's nothing at DL or WDW that compares right now.

We must have missed the English parts. We noticed that on some rides you would get English sometimes and French others. Very odd. The basic plot of Rat is easy enough to follow, but we felt like we were missing something when it was all in French. Still enjoyable, and I definitely look forward to riding it someday in Epcot, provided I can get a FP for it. :) Like I said previously, I expect huge lines for Rat for months after it opens.

The way in which they manage the bilingual shows and attractions is something I actually quite like about DLP. I find it's often quite clever in how they manage to make things comprehensible to both French and English speakers. One aspect in which I would really stick up for service at DLP is also how skilful the CMs are at switching between languages. Even people working at quick service cash registers seem to be able to switch between at least French, English, and Spanish with ease.

Moteurs Action and Le Visionarium (Timekeeper RIP) spring to mind in that respect.

Rat is a best case scenario for a Disney Film based attraction in EPCOT... I am curious if the footprint for the Enchanted Waste of Time with Belle and the restaurant is large enough to accomodate the ride they are building for BATB... Thopugh I imagine they would not want to lose that Restaurant revenue which must be huge based on the difficulty in getting a reservation.
Rat ties into the culinary culture of France pretty loosely. But it adds some whimsy to Epcot that I do feel is needed. I think a better story treatment for Frozen Ever After could have worked to tie it into World Showcase as well. With all that said, Coco is as natural a fit for a World Showcase IP as anything Disney has done.

I think the big difference is that Ratatouille takes place in Paris, which connects the attraction directly to the pavilion with the Eiffel Tower. Despite having connections to French, BatB feels more like it could take place in any enchanted land. Yes, they are both fantasies, but at least the setting seems to fit better. It's splitting hairs I know.
It's not really splitting hairs, it's a good point. Fitzgerald said at D23, "The land's that inspire them". It's a very loose tie to World showcase, but I'd rather have things be directly tied to real lands and real cultures as opposed to implied lands and implied cultures. The problem is, with most of World Showcase being European Epcot is turning into Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and has lost it's own identity.

You might say it feels like the best they could do given the space and ride system constraints?

Don't click this link if you want to see the ride fresh when it opens. This is a full ride through from DLP. I'm posting to show how much English is actually in the ride.

Stand by lines were never more than 20-30 minutes, and we literally walked on during an early open day, around 9:15am.

Given the current "We're desperate for anything new in the swamps" reality, I expect this will have massive lines, for months, once it opens in Epcot. At WDS, I understand why it had longer lines. At Epcot, it really shouldn't, but it's going to.

Ratatouille is actually the highest capacity attraction they are currently building. By a significant margin (although I'm not sure what MMRR will end up being). It will definitely have lines of course, but the extra 750-1000 guests over Tron, the Star Wars attractions and Guardians will make this attraction a non-issue.

I agree that the attraction is pretty 'meh'. But it certainly doesn't offend me as a good option for world showcase.

Gosh, with all this new building going on, maybe they'll actually even out the crowds some! Ratatouille, TRON, SW and of course Guardians, I'd imagine that will all be good crowd eaters. MAYBE... just maybe I CAN GET ON HM without such a long wait! :O

Or maybe a whole bunch of new E-Ticket rides will draw more crowds into the parks...
