Removal of Main Street Christmas Wreaths Due to New Parade

The thing is that there is space in MK. They could easily fit a new theater somewhere if there was an inclination. In fact, it would be better to have a permenent stage somewhere as opposed to the annoying one in front of the castle that clogs up everything.

And one of the side benefits of a good theater show at MK would be in alleviating some of those crowding issues. Putting a few thousand people an hour in a theater show would take them out of walkways, etc.

Back on topic, as Steve suggested, the Main Street Christmas decor desperately needs a refresh. As much as I love the garlands a new tree and new overall concept would be much appreciated (though I'm not holding out much hope).

I would agree, like the NYStreet Osborne Lights (also rumored to be gone...), they got better EVERY year until last year (2012) when they were so good that I no longer missed the Osborne Lights when they were in the old 'neighborhood' setting. With the dancing lights (and the music that accompanied them), the snow falling every 20 minutes, the new LED lights that REALLY popped, and the RGB lights (on San Fran street) that created quite an amazing 'display'.
NEVERTHELESS, I love the way the garland frames a picture, reveals the castle and 'completes' the street decorations, but if they put them back at DHS and bring back the white trees I could cope.

I wish they'd develop the area BEHIND the New Fantasyland, that area is big enough to build a new dual-track Peter Pan, Pixie Hollow, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, AND A LARGER NEW (enclosed/multi-purpose) THEATER (for Mickey's Night Before Christmas in the winter, Hunchback in the Spring, Aladdin in the fall and in the summer The Mickey Mouse Review which was stolen from us by Japan)...and they could re-create the hugely popular 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea in a structure behind the train tracks (with the sub going UNDER the tracks) and build a mountain above the tracks (train goes through a long tunnel) where we could get a Bob-sled ride and make it a tribute area to missing attractions (and a mountain in every land, that is after they build Fire Mountain in Adventureland)...now THAT would increase capacity far more than the New Fantasyland just did.
Peter Pan has FOREVER failed to meet capacity, and unlike most other attractions, it's popularity has increased over time, a dual-track 2x capacity Peter Pan would solve that, leaving the old Peter Pan open for re-development (perhaps a Tangled dark ride?).
Mr. Toad never deserved to leave (ironically the movie was finally released AFTER it's conversion to Pooh)
They could also build a new theater by simply moving the out-of-place/smelly/noisy, yet popular Racetrack to the other-side of the tracks (it's just laying down a little pavement)
They will never do that due to the firework fall zone.

That's quite a pointed, narrow view there.
...doesn't add to the conversation, and slams my post, do you do this often?
You might be aware that a lot of the fireworks originate from the 'hills' on each side of the castle (which are surrounded by people) and they simply block off the area behind the castle during the fireworks...I guess they should remove Fantasyland, based on your logic. If (burning) fireworks debris was and issue, then that entire area behind NFL would go up in flames every night. And if the fireworks threatened that area, they could simply clear it during the fireworks, just like they do in Fantasyland behind the Castle...or, maybe, adjust the trajectory...you think?

...for Mickey's Night Before Christmas in the winter, Hunchback in the Spring, Aladdin in the fall and in the summer...
You will never see three seasonal stage shows performing in the same location. It's just impractical. It could work having either Aladdin/Hunchback and MNBC, as that would allow one show to play the majority of the year and then go down for a seasonal change. Having three shows run out of the same facility at three different times of the year would be a mess though when you think about all that goes into a show. It wouldn't hardly even be worth it from the actors perspective to take the job because they'd be out of a job pretty damn fast.

Sometimes the treetops back there do catch fire.

Other than that, the MK service road and tunnel entrance are directly behind the existing FLE. There's really no way to expand that portion of the park without expanding the tunnels—and Disney won't do that because of $$$.

The long-rumored, long-gestating FrL expansion is a more likely scenario.

I hope in my lifetime to see a CEO + BoD that look at long term (10 years+) potential and not the short term...

I hope to see WDW management change for the better and recognize the Walt in WDW. Doubtful, however.

Nearly all mid-level park management sincerely believes that toddler-friendly pixie dust = classic Disney. This is how management is being trained.

And I am doubtful that if this rumor is true we will ever see the wreaths again. Most likely, they will be discarded and management will be happy with that. It would save money, no matter how small the cost. We will lose out on another piece of decor and the parks will have even fewer decorations than they do now.

I swear, they'll spend more money on decor for their silly promotions than they will the birth of Christ.

No, all there is is a service road behind the New Fantasyland...they would have to build a new bridge to the area behind IASW to access the tunnels, which could be part of (hidden within) the Matterhorn Bobsled mountain I suggested.

Actually, I would build a stage which rotates between 3 stages, Hunchback, Aladdin, and an empty stage so that on odd hours Hunchback would play, even hours Aladdin would play and at night (during the holildays) the empty stage would be used for MVMCP...if I were in charge...

Do we know anything about this? they'll remove the garlands?
From my understanding they will not be on Main Street any longer due to the new 3pm parade floats. The new floats are to tall to be able to pass under the garland, so that is why the garland will no longer be on Main Street. I also can't think of anywhere else in the Magic Kingdom that they could be placed. The only option i can think of is placing them on the Main Avenue in Hollywood Studios leading up to the BAH. Very sad to see them go as they were my favorite Christmas decoration in the Magic Kingdom.

I heard last year was the last year for the garlands and having seen the new parade, I can see why it's necessary. There's no way those floats can fit underneath them. Disappointing because I love them, but I understand it. Hopefully they add something to Main Street this year during Christmas.
