Removal of Main Street Christmas Wreaths Due to New Parade

can they not just put a higher up string over them and make like a pyramid effect in the middle so the floats can go under?

Though I am excited for the new additions, those wreaths were easily the first thing to come to mind when you thought of Christmas at the Magic Kingdom and they will be sorely missed. However, now that the castle has the Dream Lights, maybe it is a perfect time to change the decorations to something that doesn't block the lights. Hopefully whatever is coming frames the castle better and still creates that feeling of Christmas while walking down Main Street.

Disappointing. It seems like they could have simply designed the parade to fit within the heights of the Christmas wreaths, no?

I think I'd rather they workt the decorations that are out for 8-10 weeks of the year around the daily parade that operates 11 months of the year versus the other way around. I'm mixed on the garland. While it does look nice on Main Street in a vacuum, I think it does detract from the view of the castle looking down main street.

As long as this doesn't become another (Kevin Yeeism coming) another decline by degree add-on and they still find ways to tinsel up the holidays, I'm not too worked up about garland over Main Street.

I also love the garland, in fact I complained about their absence during MVMCP one year (...and lack of the tree) for tickets to a subsequent MVMCP. The garland completes the decor. I have some wonderful pictures with the garland and the castle behind. The garland provides a wonderful reveal for the amazing Castle. Without the garland the the decorations are merely pedestrian.
It makes no sense to
I would ALSO suggest that "they just run the Christmas Parade once the Christmas decorations go up instead of exclusively for MVMCP."
Or arch the garland, which would create a border for the castle...but I guess that would be to technically impossible for Disney to do.
Hope this isn't another loss of many...the beautiful white trees with blue lights on each side of the castle, the Diamond Horseshoe Xmas show, Mickey's Night before Christmas, Country Bears Xmas show...and the Osborne Lights (rumored to be gone next year).
Soon there will be little reason to go to WDW for the holidays, aside from it being cool.

The loss of Mickey's Night Before Christmas is still very hard to swallow for me. It was my family's favorite show during Christmas time, with the live singers and band, the folding sets and snow at the end, it was just magical. I still hope that the Magic Kingdom will bring it back somehow, even though I know TDO doesn't give a rat's behind about it. Even what they offer now during the holidays is scaled back, but the average park goer wouldn't even know the difference. Man, being reminded of them getting rid of MNBC brings back a lot of pent of anger I have toward TDO.

How did the most attended theme park in the world come to not have a live theatre venue?

I had the same thought LOL. I like the look of the garlands going across main street and will be sad to see them go if they don't do something similar... but I know they could come up with something great instead if they really wanted to and hopefully they do instead of going the Lights of Winter route where nothing replaces it.

I think we should all just take a deep breath and patiently wait to see what the new alternative is. But, I know that's asking a lot. ;)

Or we could go by the recent track record of Christmas Decor coming down and never going back up. *cough* lights of winter *cough*

Never. We do not do that around here!

See...told ya! ;)

In all seriousness, losing Xmas decor to get a brand new parade seems like a pretty small price to pay.

I LOVED that show. The loss of that theatre and subsequently that show, is the main reason I'll never attend another MVMCP.

I know there isn't too much space at the Magic Kingdom, but I wish the theater received the FOTLK treatment and was rebuilt somewhere else at the park. If only Orlando's fans were as vocal as Anaheim's are about losing attractions. When Aladdin was announced to be closed, there was a huge uproar and the show stayed.

I wish they'd develop the area BEHIND the New Fantasyland, that area is big enough to build a new dual-track Peter Pan, Pixie Hollow, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, AND A LARGER NEW (enclosed/multi-purpose) THEATER (for Mickey's Night Before Christmas in the winter, Hunchback in the Spring, Aladdin in the fall and in the summer The Mickey Mouse Review which was stolen from us by Japan)...and they could re-create the hugely popular 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea in a structure behind the train tracks (with the sub going UNDER the tracks) and build a mountain above the tracks (train goes through a long tunnel) where we could get a Bob-sled ride and make it a tribute area to missing attractions (and a mountain in every land, that is after they build Fire Mountain in Adventureland)...now THAT would increase capacity far more than the New Fantasyland just did.
Peter Pan has FOREVER failed to meet capacity, and unlike most other attractions, it's popularity has increased over time, a dual-track 2x capacity Peter Pan would solve that, leaving the old Peter Pan open for re-development (perhaps a Tangled dark ride?).
Mr. Toad never deserved to leave (ironically the movie was finally released AFTER it's conversion to Pooh)
They could also build a new theater by simply moving the out-of-place/smelly/noisy, yet popular Racetrack to the other-side of the tracks (it's just laying down a little pavement)

The thing is that there is space in MK. They could easily fit a new theater somewhere if there was an inclination. In fact, it would be better to have a permenent stage somewhere as opposed to the annoying one in front of the castle that clogs up everything.
