Remember when The Hulk and Dragons were smooth?

DH loves coasters and thrill rides but hated the jerkiness of Hulk. He enjoyed Dragons though. RRR was down when we were there, but we heard that it was jerkier than Hulk, so I doubt he will try it when we are back in December.

First time I went on Hulk I had no idea the ride took off like it did. I was looking around head leaned over the side and yes it was hard to get it back together before I went over the top. I was younger then so it didn't do much to me but I'm not sure if my neck could deal well with that now. Hahaha

My dad and I rode it early in the morning and we were not aware of the lift hill. After the ride he passed on most of the other thrill rides that day.

What is RRR?

I go to the theme parks at least once a week, different ones depending on my mood. Dragons is rough but mainly the blue side, when you hit the final brakes it sounds like pebbles are being runover by the wheels. It's a weird sound. The Hulk is unbearable at times. I really wish they'd build a new rollercoaster. Disney only builds rides for kids now. They build a rollercoaster every 5 years and it's always some kiddie ride :-/

Hopefully this Harry Potter book store rollercoaster will be awesome. Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket would be better if it didn't steop for brakes every 5 sec lol.

The Mummy is a great new style of rollercoaster. I wish more were like this but going upside down and innovative. Tranformers is another lame simulator on wheels. Universal's strategy "Build a simulator every 2 years and people will never know it's the same ol' sh*t."

You answered your own question...

I really wish they'd build a new rollercoaster.

You don't like seeing a new simulator "every 2 years" (when Transformers isn't even a traditional simulator,) but you want to see another roller coaster, when the last one opened just 3 years ago? Does that extra year make all the difference to you or what?

Hopefully this Harry Potter book store rollercoaster will be awesome.

It's a bank.

The last half of the Hulk has always been rough. Goes for most B&M coasters, if they have a lot of tight elements towards the end they tend to get kinda rough. Kumba has always been the same way around the 6th and 7th inversions right after the brake run.

Heck I remember when Gwazi used to be smooth, opening weekend!

Indeed. I rode Gwazi during the employee preview (my friend worked in Busch parking). For it's first few years Gwazi was one of the smoothest wood coasters I've ever been on. Feels like a deathtrap nowadays. It is *extremely* rough now.

After riding so many coasters in various parks, I am bored of the same old loops and inversions. So many coasters are the same. I prefer coasters like the Mummy much more.

You are gonna love Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens Tampa. I've been a coaster fan all my life, and at 30, I'm starting to feel the same way you do. Cheetah Hunt is exceptional, it's easily my favorite coaster in Florida now.

I get massive headaches from The Hulk... I like the ride but it is far from smooth.
I found it incredibly (no pun intended) smooth on my visit November 17th. I could tell though that if I lifted my head from the head rest it would get bashed around, so I just kept it back.

Dragons were smooth.

Rip, Ride, RockIt left me with a painful headache.

We were at Universal a few months ago and that sums up my experiences with all three coasters as well.

The Hollywood coaster is terrible and I'll probably never go again after being thrashed by it.

Hulk has a cool launch...then the ride just stinks. Sorry. It is rough and the painful corkscrews and turns are nothing that I ever want to go through again.

Dueling Dragons is the clear winner as far as coasters go at Universal. It's still a pretty good ride. Both tracks.

Hulk used to be my favorite steel coaster, but it's in such poor shape now I can only deal with it once a trip or so. Uni just doesn't seem to want to maintain it (or anything else in MSHI). It's a shame. WWHP has done great things for Islands of Adventure, but Uni has really taken the eye off the ball with other parts of the park. Jurassic Park & Seuss Landing are shadows of their former selves, and Toon Lagoon...well, Toon Lagoon has always been fairly weak I guess.

I don't see how Jurassic Park and Seuss Landing are "shadows of their former selves". I can see how The Lost Continent would be though. Even though it's still such a beautiful land, the Merlinwood section of the park is now gone, which took Dueling Dragons and The Flying Unicorn away from The Lost Continent.

And what a difference it made! Now, if we can get the same thing for Cat in the Hat, Dr. Doom, Hulk, Dudley Do-Right, Popeye, Jurassic Park...
Dr. Doom's FearFall, Popeye & Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges, Cat in the Hat and The Incredible Hulk Coaster are fine.

The Incredible Hulk, while it may be rough to some, was just re-painted and all of the effects/audio are working. I don't know what they could do about the roughness during the 2nd half of the ride, maybe new trains? If you actually keep your head against the head-rest, you should be fine... Maybe for my last 2 recent visits I had a good seat...?

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls opened half finished. They need to close it for some time and really re-do some parts.

Cat in the Hat... what needs to be done here? It's a fun and very well done dark-ride.

I agree about Jurassic Park River Adventure. Some of the outside dinosaurs need some major touching up.

Dr. Doom's FearFall... again, what needs to be done here? The queue is fantastic and it is a pretty scary and thrilling ride. I think the only thing they could do to improve this ride is maybe add a new drop profile. After the first blast and fall, the rest of the drops are just bounces.

Popeye & Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges is arguably the best rapids ride in the world. The theming is great, the rapids are fun and it gets you soaked!

Cat in the hat- NOT fine. Dusty and dirty, a nice 2 week rehab would be great.

JP needs work, 4-6 week refurb

Doctor Doom- Fine

Dudley- Extensive 9-12 month refurb. New Animatronics, better sound system, cleaner ride areas, Make the line move faster. 2 loading areas?

Popeye- fine

If these refurbs all happen in the next 2-3 years. with Potter and Transformers. They'll double their attendance

You mean the Seuss Landing that just got done with massive repainting and maintenance?

You're right. Totally a crap hole
