Reliable Weather Forecasts

We will be out in WDW for a few weeks in August. It would help our day to day planning if we could obtain reliable long range (5 days or so)weather forecasts whilst we are in Orlando.
Whats the best source - TV, newspaper or.....?
Actually, not sure why I should worry about the weather - its 55F and rain in the UK today - GLORIOUS!!

55F - You Yorkshire lot get it easy!

When we are in Orlando we usually watch the TV for the most reliable forcasts. I am sure some of our Floridian friends will advise better when they rise from their slumber.

Seriously though Malc,we listen to 96.5 WHTQ the Classic Rock Station at home via the net,the page is www.whtq.com/ .You can get the current weather in Flod on this site also while listening to some great music. It also gets us in the mood,we also go in Aug for 3 weeks.Try this site for a more extensive forecast www.wunderground.com/US/FL/Orlando ,and before the rest of you start giving me stick,no I'm not a weather freak,I stopped taking an interest once Ulrika ka ka ka left.:D

The August weather for Florida is.....drum roll....hot & sticky with a good chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High in the low to mid 90s, low in the high 60s to mid 70s. Unless a hurricane comes along, then it's rain, wind, rain, wind with chance of flooding & wind damage. This is the weather report from the beginning of June until the end of September, sometimes starts in May and continues through October, but not always.

Yep, I have a good idea what we are letting ourselves in for, but is there a local source of information that can be reasonably trusted to forecast ahead for a few days?

NO!! Don't trust any of them (weather forecasts) I've been here 20 years & they only have a 50/50 chance of being right. My forecast is as good as you're going to get.

OK - I have no problem with this, since forecasts are EXACTLY as unreliable in the UK. Not even sure why I listen out for them anymore.

I really shouldn't tell you this, but we also have tornadoes. They're not as common in the summer, more often in spring & fall when you have cold air hitting warm, moist air. However, any severe thunderstorm could possibly trigger one. Unfortunately, most people aren't listening to weather when they hit. Watch out for "horizontal" rain and/or hail. That's an indicator that the storm is worse than usual and could spawn a tornado. Also, the sky gets dark (black/grey) with a funny green color. Seek sturdy shelter immediately if you see this happening! (Our neighborhood was hit a couple of years ago; scary! and I also saw all of the above signs while driving on an interstate in South Carolina once. All I could do was follow the lights of the truck in front of me and hope he didn't go off the road. When I got to an exit & motel,I learned that a tornado had passed near me. I had my then 3 month old in the car, so was a nervous wreck!)

Fortunately, tornados are pretty rare around here! Lightning is more of a problem. And sharks. And gators. And poisonous snakes & spiders. Why do I live here, anyway? Oh yes, WDW! and no real winter.

Probably its time to draw a line under this line of discussion and make damned sure that my wife and four daughters don't read this!
Is TWISTER at Universal better or worse than the real thing??

OK Mark(?), you've read between the lines. Yes I'm a season ticket holder and I've followed Leeds for over 35 years. I don't have a problem finishing 4th, you get what you deserve in the game (remember, like Good Friday).
Have a great time in the Champs. League, we didnt win it but it was great fun! I had a marvellous evening out in Milan last November.
Now we've got that out of the way, lets forget it eh!;)
All the best,
