Your a wise man Clemson, very wise.

That's because anyone who loves Clemson is certainly a wise person. Did I mention I graduated from Clemson last spring???

Anyway, back on topic, of people who need to relax, my roommate on the CP worked front desk as OKW. She had a complaint from a group of 5 grown men who were staying in a 2 bedroom villa. Keep in mind that a 2 bedroom sleeps 8 people comfortably (1 king size bed, 2 queen size bed, and a pullout sofa). These gentlemen had apparently requested an air mattress, but unfortunately they didn't have anymore. When they make reservations, you can request one, but are not guarenteed to get it. They screamed and yelled at her until she got her manager who told them they didn't have any air mattresses. Apparently they finally sucked it up and stayed in the room. All my roommate wanted to say was, "Heaven forbid 2 grown men share a bed because then they might be gay." :brick:

Unfortunately, when they made the reservations Member Services or CRO should have told them that they do not supply any extra beds or bedding at any DVC resort. They don't even supply cribs, only the pack and play in the room. If these folks were DVC members, then shame on them for not knowing the rules, if not shame on Member Services or CRO for not knowing the rules.
I feel badly for the folks at the front desk at any resort. The abuse they sometimes receive is way beyond the pale.

I was in line for Space a couple months ago and there was this lady in front of me yelling at the top of her lungs that her daughter (who was clearly 2 inches too short) was plenty tall enough and that they needed to refund her money b/c she paid for an adult ticket so that her daughter could ride the big rides... (first of all, what the heck does that have to do with anything???) The poor CM ended up bringing a manager or someone higher up to talk with this lady meanwhile she just continued to yell what a rip Disney is and that Universal let her daughter on all the rides (ok, yeah right) And she would just have to visit there again - to which I said (loud enough that she could hear) to my hubby... "Universal deserves her" To which she turned about 3 shades of purple... I also leaned over told the CM that she was doing a great job and that all the normal people here totally respect her for what she has to put up with... Then we walked past the still yelling lady... ughhh... the manners of some of these people - I swear they behave like animals.

Agree!!!! :drevil:

I think waiting in line for 15 min to get on SM is not bad... I was going to be waiting for 120min before someone who was kind and had a child who freaked out decided to give a random persion ...( ME..) 2 FP for the ride... which i gave the other one to someone random as well.... (My fiorst time.. and it was magical due to that kind persion..)

Anyone who complains of short wait times should go to epcot and get some guiness.... or go to contemporary to get whatever...

This is exactly why I refuse to work retail.

My wife works in a Pharmacy and she tells me horor stories like this every day.

People want instant gradification these days..and the wealthy people are the worst.

Here's my favorite: There's a line at the cash register...maybe 6 people...the Lady in the front gets a call on her cell phone.
When she gets to the check out area she says to the cashier:

"Hang on a minute..can't you see I'm on the phone?"

Whats wrong with THIS picture????..Grrrrrrrrr

And on a sidenote, in the shops on Main Street, I saw a woman hand her child a big sucker and tell her to eat it in the store, so that they wouldnt have to pay for it. Disturbing to say the least.

Thats actualy funny. If I were the CM working there (and had heard her of course) I would have said. "Mrs. If your child can eat that ENTIRE thing here in this store. I'll GIVE ou the sucker."

Some days are worse than others, but it's not too bad. But, then again, I worked in guest relations at Six Flags since I was 15 years old and retail since I was 17 (in the off seasons) so I guess I'm sorta used to getting yelled at over things that aren't my fault. I currently work at Target and the good guests far outnumber the bad ones. There are always some that are a bit irrational (okay, sometimes a lot irrational), but I have good guests every day too.

In guest relations, well that's sometimes another story. If anything happens, we hear about it. I've been called every name in the book for things as simple as asking a guest to remove their hat for 5 seconds to take a season pass picture. The height limit complaints are definitely the worst. But, you sorta learn to not let it all bother you. I could care less if John Doe thinks I'm horrible because John Doe Jr. is too short to ride the roller coaster.

I guess when you work with the public and deal with these types of situations, you just get used to it and it no longer bothers you. You just have to not take it personally. I got yelled at the week after Christmas while working the service desk at Target because of the return policy. Along with the usual "I'm never shopping at Target again" threat. (All because she had to exchange for something else from the same department because she didn't have a receipt.) The next guest told me she felt sorry for me because of people like that. I just told her that it wasn't that bad and that it just doesn't bother me when people yell. (On a side note, I once had a coke can thrown at me at Six Flags because the park wasn't open and the guest wasn't intelligent enough to check the operating hours before driving from Indianapolis, which is like a 2-2 1/2 hour drive.)

Yeah, people really need to relax more when they go to Disney. Even on days when the parks aren't busy at all I see people acting frantic but on busy days it's even worse. I just want to tell them all to chill out and enjoy their time!

On what are you basing this statement?

I am not speaking for Scooter, but, rather for myself. Having worked in retail and in banking for more years than I care to count, I am inclined to agree totally with Scooter. Some wealthy people are without a doubt the most boorish buffoons on the earth. I am sure they are not the only ones that behave badly and I am equally as sure not all wealthy people behave this way, but, many do.
Right now, the biggest pain in the butt are the ones endowed with the Entitlement mentality, and that knows no economic level. Face it, people are becoming more and more rude. It is a shame.
Folks on cell phones are a true pain. I just walk away and ask them to let me know when they are done. I REFUSE to wait on someone while they are on the phone. Respect goes both ways.

I agree with you on everything you've said here.

I've worked in retail most of my working years. People at the counters with cell phones are horrible. I will not wait on someone who is talking on the phone and does not have the courtesy to hang up for a couple of minutes. :(

I always just scan their stuff and talk to them as little as possible to get it done. They're slower than other guests not on phones, which is kinda annoying. But, I still try to be polite to them and not interupt their conversation. That, to me, is just plain good guest service. If you walk away and tell them to come back when they're off the phone, they may view you as rude (which they were too, but that's irrelevant if they complain on you). IMO, employees dealing with the public need to be above the behavior of some of the guests. I'd be fired and with out a job if I were rude back to everyone who was rude to me first. Perhaps at a bank it's different.

The funny thing is, this same behavior (like refusing to help guests on the phone) would be considered awful at places like Disney, but is acceptable in other places. I'm not saying that I condone it. I don't like it either if someone comes through my line and they're on the phone.

And, for the record, if I get a call at a store I finish it before I even get in line. Or, I hang up when it's my turn. A simple solution. Just didn't want ya'll to think that I'm one who does this. (Not a problem for me, I don't have many friends so my phone rarely rings. Usually if I'm on the phone, I placed the call and do that when it's convenient.)

You are right, BUT I worked in a 1 hour photo lab and you have to do quite a bit of talking and I can't be standing there waiting for them to finish up when I have a line of other people. When I have 60 rolls of film to get done in an hour, standing there waiting is not an option. :hammer: I would think it would be the same with a bank. There are other customers in line that need to be taken care of. It's not only them standing there.

But, most of the time I was very professional and polite. :lookaroun

Kristin,
I was not rude, I asked them to let me know when they were done with their call. It was not in a bank, it was in the Photo Lab where I was a manager with a kajillion rolls of film to process. Personally, I considered it rude to interrupt this person's call to ask her her name and other info needed for the envelope for her film. Rudeness, IMHO, is NOT acceptable anywhere. I give excellent customer service and have been complimented many times on it both in the bank and at the Photo Lab.
Have you run into a situation like this? Drive through window at McDonalds, the person at the window is on her cell phone. THAT drove me up the wall and prompted me to call the manager. That is TOTALLY unacceptable.

Glad you know what it is like to work in a one hour lab. :) That is exactly where this took place. Dee, have we talked about this before? Where did you work?
