"The Centoonial Park fountain interactive water play area near the Toontown entrance will spring to life for regular show moments throughout the day and night. Water will spurt from clamshells, flower blossoms and the mouths of cartoon fish in the fountain basin.
Mickey will hold Minnie aloft in a ballerina pose at the top of the fountain.

Cafe Daisy will take over space once dedicated to the land’s quick service food stands — Pluto’s Dog House, Daisy’s Diner and Clarabelle’s ice cream. The Daisy Duck-themed sidewalk eatery will serve “dinner classics.” Shade trees and umbrellas will dot the City Hall courtyard filled with outdoor dining tables.

Next door, the Good Boy Grocers Market themed to Mickey’s dog Pluto will sell grab-and-go drinks and snacks.

Toontown City Hall will be flanked by the 1st National Bank and the town courthouse. Down the block, the Toontown Street Repair department building is in need of repair.

The City Hall roof will be festooned with playful white-gloved cartoon hands that bang bells with mallets, pull air whistles and fire cannonballs from cannons. A golden piggy bank hops over the bank’s roof.

On the other side of Toontown, Goofy’s House and Donald Duck’s Boat will be rethemed as children’s play areas.

Goofy’s House will be reimagined as a candy-making shop with a chaotic Rube Goldberg-like contraption inside that fuels the confection operation. Goofy’s trademark green hat will rest at the peak of the roof that will be surrounded by honey-dripping beehives and colorful birdhouses.

Nearby, Donald’s Boat has crashed into a duck pond next to Goofy’s House. The boat is now filled with water and leaking from the inside. The resulting water play area will feature spinning water lilies and dancing fountains. Visitors will no longer be able to go inside the boat or up on the deck.

A grassy play area covered in artificial turf will surround a Dreaming Tree — inspired by the tree Walt Disney used to dream under in his hometown of Marceline, Missouri. Kids can climb on the tree’s undulating roots.

An elevated clubhouse will feature a rope climbing cargo net, hillside slides and a sound garden with quirky noise makers. Small play areas with balance beams, rocking horses and hopscotch squares will fill Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard."

I only wish they didn’t get rid of the Gas Station. I had a soft spot for it.

I like all the changes. My niece would LOVE this.

So, no more actual pond around the boat (just splash pads?) and you can't climb into anymore. Boo. 👎

I share the sentiment but the fact that you still have actual water with the splash pad softens the blow and will probably actually be more useful for a lot of families including my own.

Was there not a way to keep the waterfall and add the splash pad? I thought the waterfall was in the back? Admittedly I’m no Toontown expert. Hardly ever go back there and can’t remember the last time I even noticed the waterfall. It just felt like one of those cool hidden gems though. That they spent money to put a waterfall hidden back there when they didn’t have to. The kind of stuff they don’t do today.

I know this would be incredibly unlikely to happen, but since Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway was produced by Disney TV Animation and that DTVA will oversee the overhaul of Toontown, I'm just hoping for the residents of Big City, the Boiling Isles, and Brighton to visit Mickey's Toontown when it reopens, like how the Disney Afternoon gang used to hang out back in the day

The loss of going into the boat is the only negative I see but for me the splash pad more than makes up for it.

Lots of new things for kids to do, toontown was originally built as a play area for kids but most the activities got “lawyered” out of it, I’m happy to see the playground idea brought back.

Unfortunately my first thought when seeing the tree roots is they will be gone as soon as the first kid falls and hurts themself and Disney is sued. Love the idea of a playground, just not sure it stands a chance in litigious America.

I for one absolutely love the changes. While the original Toon Town had a lot for kids to do, it seems like they are making it a lot more kid-friendly with more open spaces to run around and burn off energy with more playground elements for toddlers (and old kids) to enjoy.

I love the new look of the streets and sidewalks/crosswalks. Makes it look more like a town and the pavers in the town square look really nice. The added trees there will be nice too.

Yeah, losing the ability to go inside Donald's Boat and the loss of the moat is a bummer, but I feel like the splashpad and dancing fountains is giving back what was lost in A Bug's Land....a place for kids to cool off again.

The new fountain sounds awesome as well as the new elements on the roofs. Should add some kinetic energy to the land (though I've missed the trolley for a long time).

Overall, it seems like a place that would cater to my nephews a lot more than the original TT and I can see families spending a lot more time here, and with the new attraction it should eat up a lot of guests which the park really needs right now.

I thought about this too and had me wondering if the turf under the tree will be spongy like what they've been putting into city parks (a least around where I live). I wouldn't be surprised if we see some sort of disclaimer on the website or on signs after it opens stating that Disney isn't responsible to injuries...though it won't stop people from trying to sue anyway.

wait, where's Roger???
I feel like everything to the east of El Capitoon will remain mostly untouched which is why it isn't featured. They also didn't show models of anything on the northwest side like Mickey and Minnie's houses.

How many splashpads are there in the Disneyland Resort? Two that I can think of. How many have been turned on in recent years? Zero.

What are the odds of the Toon Town ones being turned on for more than a few months? Zero.

Amazed that the same Disney that's eliminating real grass in the parks for water conservation reasons is building a literal waste of water.

Model making is the only thing WDI does right.

Also the Splash Mountain remodel looks good, except for the awful water tower. But other than that, it’ll fit in well next to Rivers of America. So glad they’re not going with the concept art depicting the boat on top of the mountain; that was unbelievably ugly.
I am not liking that weird flat top of the mountain
