NEVER FORGET

Also early 2023 is a nice surprise for MMRR. I was always assuming Summer 2023
Wild guess but I could see MMRR opening January 2023. That would be the 30th anniversary of ToonTown and would fit with Disney’s plan of opening a major E post-holiday as they did with RoTR.

Also this does lend some credibility to the rumors Splash/CC may remain untouched for a bit longer - perhaps through the end of next year. Can’t imagine having another ride/land down with this much capacity now already offline in 2022.

It's nice to see Toontown getting some much-needed love. The new additions, especially the Dreaming Tree, seem very nice. As for Roger's ride, it was reported that it will get the Redd the Pirate treatment as Jessica Rabbit is getting woke and becoming a detective of all things. Hoo boy. But maybe the ride will get new and better scenes and will make a bit more narrative sense as a result. Not everything in Roger Rabbit has to be Tex Avery-focused. Anyway, we'll see...
To be fair, Jessica is not a damsel in distress for the most part in the actual movie, and actively tries to find Roger throughout. She saves Eddie and was working the case separately the whole time. The idea of Roger successfully rescuing Jessica is more far-fetched. And she already has turned the tides on the weasels halfway through the ride, so this isn't an extensive rewrite.

So they're replacing an existing seating area and an adjacent toddler playground that are vaguely themed to a city park with a combined seating area and toddler playground that's more definitively themed to a city park?

I'm sure it will be nice, but it hardly seems like they're going to "...leverage Disney’s powerful brand, develop new stories and share even more magical experiences with our guests," per Josh's quote.

The "dreaming tree" sounds like a reworked idea from Epcot's ill-conceived central greenspace that's currently lost in endless construction, and "landscaping for both spontaneous family play and parental relaxation" sounds like an overwrought way to describe a bench. Even the new centerpiece interactive fountain feels a little lackluster in a land that has been anchored by two large fountains (one of which already has interactive elements) since its opening day.

Wake me up when they announce concrete plans to replace the long-removed Jolly Trolley, Goofy's Bounce House, Donald's Boat and Slide, and Chip N Dale's Acorn Crawl with something worthwhile.

Toontown has so much potential to be a fun and exciting corner of the park; it was once a hive of activity, but is now a shell of its former self. This announcement feels like they're surrendering and committing to the status quo, rather than pushing the limits and delivering something rewarding.

It looks like they're going to do something with the treehouse. It looks pretty cool all around.

As for Roger Rabbit, maybe they're just removing Benny from the entrance.

Replacing concrete with parks is a huge improvement in my book. Kind of sad to see the musical fountain disappear though, no matter how old I get I’ll enjoy stepping on the triggers and making sounds. Hopefully the gag factory affects survive, those always bring out my inner child also.

Curious detail... What's up with the 'jack and the beanstalk' vine distinctly running from the mountains into the back of the MMRR entrance?
I think that's been shown to be referenced in the queue that has various "props" from different Mickey Cartoons. Looks like there might be a physical vine above the entrance that will transition into being part of the painted backdrop which would be cool

It does kind of ruin the joke and turning point though. We all know Jessica was as you mentioned the brains over Roger's emotions. That was the fun of the character dynamic in the film. She loved him for the laughs.

Josh speaking at the IAAPA conference in Orlando just announced this -

I love Toon Town. Everyone is so mean to it. There are so many YT videos calling it a "failure," which I don't understand because it's literally always packed every time I go there (we love to see it). So giving it some love which is much needed, and I am all about it. ❣️

I’m not going to lie. I am a bit concerned that I’m not seeing Benny nor the Roger fountain on the concept art. I get why the fountain isn’t there now but not seeing both has me wondering. Of course they may just be trying to really solidify this as MICKEYs Toontown. We also could be reading too much into it. You do have to wonder what their long term game plan for Roger is. It’s not an IP they care about at all. Sadly, I could see them retheming it to some new D+ show. Whenever a super popular non Fab 5 animated show comes along on D+.

Unless if I'm misinterpreting this art, it looks like the loading station for Gadget's is now inside the Toontown hill. This short coaster needs all the visual pizazz it can get so that would be nice.

Gas Station is gone along with most of it's overhang, now it's the MARKET (hopefully not the final name). I'm guessing they'll close up all the nearby mini restaurants that share a kitchen and turn the MARKET into the one stop shop for food in Toontown.

Love this. Positive news for once! Toontowm was so run down, it is like the ghetto of Disneyland. Glad it is being redone. It needs it, especially since all the attractions were closed almost 20 years ago.
