Refrigerators in Rooms

Just had a most excellent 2 weeks at the All Star Sports - couldnt fault it , quiet room, plenty of facilities - excellent.

One gripe tho!! $149 for the refrigerator - and when it turns up its the size of a small box - I guess its an old under dresser drinks fridge!!!!

Question - I saw new, bigger refrigerators in Wal Mart at only $40 - and we had a big van whilst at Disney ( 6 of us) - Has anyone ever just bought a fridge and then left it in the room afterwards? Or have you bought one and done something else with it?? (like given it to the Chambermaid??)

Coming from the UK we could not take it home??

When we go back in c couple of years we will probably stay at the ASSports again - so we will need a fridge again - anyone tried the above?

Please let me know

(p.s. I had an idea to set up a local fridge delivery service in Orlando charging $25 for the week inc delivery - hahahahaha)

I need it for my 4 kids. I shouldn't have to say much more after that. Although, last trip we were fortunate enough to stay concierge, and it was a short trip up some steps for milk that wasn't spoiled rotten.

I must've missed the memo that states that anybody who does things differently than wdwfan65 is wrong. Could somebody please direct me to it??

The fridge rip off:lookaroun is as bad as the "perfered room" rip off at the All Stars.

Let's see $10 a night. If they only rent them half the year they take in over $1500:cool: for a $40 fridge. Oh, sorry. I forgot the$50-70 it would cost to run the fridge half the year:animwink:

I paid the extra $10 a night for a "prefered room" e.g. regular room at Fantasia in May. Guess what, my non-prefered room at Movies in March and last week was closer to the pool, food court and bus stop than my prefered room was and it was $10 a night cheaper.:D

Oh well, free enterprise.:lookaroun But we learn:animwink:

You COULD care less? So you do care! How sweet!

Now if you'd said you couldn't care less, I'd have asked why you keep posting. I said what I said to give our experience and point of view on what's worked for us.

Exactly. So stop getting so offensive everytime someone speaks their opinion. It's just a fridge. Let it go.

Wow - what did I start

A simple man from England asks a simple question about the cost of a fridge - and civil war breaks out in the United States - Is this the Disney Fridge party to match the earlier events in Boston??

Thanks for the replies guys - next time we will buy the fridge and give to the Housekeeper.

Oh and - CHILL!!!!!!

(and you dont need a fridge to do that!!hahahahaha)

Mark,
As some readers have suggested you can buy a super cheap cooler at WalMart - Like $5 for the styrofoam ones, and keep it full of ice everyday. We brought a cooler last time and just used ice from the one of the hotel icemakers everynight. Everything stayed perfectly cool. At the end of the week you could just throw it away!

And one more idea, our friends who are meeting us in Orlando this weekend are checking their own cooler in at the airport. They've got it full of cookies and snacks for the park. When they get there, they're using happylimo ...for only $80 there's six of them, but that's another thread... which will stop at the grocery store so they can buy milk. Once they get to the Caribbean they're just going to fill it with ice!

Good luck!

SIZE=1]...is it safe now?...[/SIZE]

A refrigerator is a must for us on vacation - it kept that amoxicillin cold when the kids were little! We've always saved a lot of money keeping snacks and drinks in the room, over and above the cost of the frig.

We always rent a fridge at Disney. It is much easier then getting ice all the time for the cooler. We tried that once and that was enough. We usually stay at WDW for 12 days at a time going 2 times a year. Now that I think about we could have bought quite a few fridges! I guess I just don't mind the expense. It's convenient and I don't have to go to Walmart to track one down. One thing I have noticed though that on our last two trips to the Poly we were never charged for it. We were not concierge so I think we should have been but we weren't.

Please don't throw that cooler away! Leave it in the room for the "mousekeepers" and they will store it away in their supply room. Then, when another guest shows up and asks a mousekeeper, "Where can I get a cooler?", the mousekeeper will recycle your old cooler. It works and keeps down the waste.
