I get the USA comments but I think they wanted to do the US because the show is about how music affects us or US?

The capitalization of US is just odd and it doesn't sound like they discussed it, did they?

I actually like Harmonious as a name - fits in with celebrating all the nations of the work together plus "harmony" relating to the music. I just don't get the "US" and certainly hope that is not an attempt to make this about the United States.

It’s a technical tour de force on paper.

So was Rivers of Light.
It seems to me that every Disney attraction/show has the ability to be a "technical tour de force". The problems start when executives start using the white-out.

This gets me thinking, @marni1971, or anyone else who knows what was cut from RoL, how much was actually saved in the long run from what they cut from the show? Trying to figure out if the performers and what else was cut actually cost a large amount or not.

Said it in another thread, but man, losing IllumiNations for a nighttime show centering on Disney songs might be the biggest downer from all of this. Again, the idea that "movie characters = more Disney" really brings me down; I might be an 80s kid, but I remember growing up with a Disney that was so multi-faceted that everything could technically be "more Disney", to use Chapek's terminology, whether it was the characters themselves or just the general approach to real world issues and ideas (e.g. how Disney handled educational productions, or specials on nature or technology).

And, yeah, repeating what was said above...I can hear these songs anywhere on Disney property. Part of the fun of going to WDW as a kid was getting to pick and choose what we liked most about the various parks, and it worked in large part because they were so different from one another; homogenizing them isn't the answer, but this is a homogenizing step.

Told my DH about "HarmonioUS" and he said, "They're making a fireworks show about the US?"

About those water screens for projections...will they be viewable from all angles?

As a musician, I'm intrigued by them re-doing Disney tunes into a more "world music" style. Hercules keeps being shown on the projections, but the last I checked, Gospel music wasn't around in Greece during those times. Will they re-do that to show classic Greek music with lyres, etc? Will Let it Go get more of a Norwegian folk sound? The possibilities are there, I just hope they don't screw it up.

That said, this weekend my 6 month old would not calm down for anything on a 4 hour car ride, until I started playing the Illuminations soundtrack. They have a lot to live up to musically

Ooh, that was a low blow. :)

I read your first sentence and got excited for a moment! Then I read the second. :(
I might be crazy here, but I think we're in a better place now. TDO might have learned from ROL?????? And if another Fiasco happens..wouldn't EF just keep running till it's ready??? We all think EF is not JB: AWM so no need to worry about the interim show before the full replacement.

If somehow Tangled gets into DHMUS, might we see the ROL lanterns??? No clue what country Rapunzel is from,
