That’s what she said.

What they should have, hopefully they do, is backup mist screens on each barge if the led screen fails, and it likely will sooner rather than later in the shows life.

In this video they test the arms, most disappointing I’ve seen and if this is some finally effect it’s not only unimpressive these are effects most concerts have.

Among other things, didn’t one of the complaints or issues with RoL involve its mist screens and poor image quality? Maybe that is reason why they decided not to go with them in this production given the distance from spectator to show element?

I agree... mist screens are only effective in a small scale, close to audience setting. I don’t fault them for not wanting to use them.

Just wish they had... found a better way .

The main mist screen of RoL was not the normal type as seen in Fantasmic. It was a new type that had mixed results.

Very mixed! Seems they forgot everything they learned about how to use mist screens in frequently windy conditions.
Fantasmic had the carefully developed fin spray head from the early 90s. RoL had for want of a better word two fire hoses lay on their sides. I saw a RoL that was so beautiful it was spine tingling (aside from the end). I saw another that was such a mess of water and blurred lighting.

Seriously - I understand the impulse to want to develop a new iteration of the tech for a new show, lest anyone complain the Night Spectaculars are "all the same" (Fantasmic, Rivers of Light, and now Harmonius all use some version of a Water Screen - imagine if they all used the Fantasmic-style Mist Screen), but if they can't come up with different takes that are still effective then maybe they need to not use a "Water Screen" in each production.

I agree. I’m going to miss the sight lines across World Showcase Lagoon.

For sure it wasn’t your “normal” mist screen. I can respect the fact that they try to innovate and incorporate show elements in different ways in an effort to deliver nighttime spectaculars like we’ve never seen before. With innovation and exploration comes instances where somethings are sacrificed at the cost of delivering said innovation - some sacrifices more popular than others. I’m not excited that the view across World Showcase Lagoon has become impacted, but I do realize that new things have to be explored and discovered to advance into the future and that these new things come at a cost each and every time.

I’m know it’s not the popular opinion among what I’ve seen on the boards, especially since the giant “floating taco” debuted out on the water, but it’s at least something I feel that needs to be remembered. We’re not always going to get to forever hold onto the things we grew up with and as long as it’s because they are trying to innovate and deliver something new (other than the latest and greatest decorated cupcake 🤣) , I have the utmost respect for the attempt at doing just that.
The World Showcase situation is unforgivable if things don’t change. Its not progress, innovation or exploration, it’s several steps back. Its not rocket science to have realised the damage this would cause.

Same for the RoL projection system. Water and wind don’t mix. Who’d have thought it.

May as well also put a Dumbo spinner in the hub, just high enough to obscure the castle.

Same here. When it worked it was really something special. And when it didn’t work.. it was very abstract? Lol

One good thing the big ugly taco barges takes your mind off of the big ugly square Guardians building 😀.

Till now I thought I assumed the big ugly taco barges would be floated out each night. I did not realize how massive they were.

I sure hope all this is worth it and we get a good show! I personally had a hard time seeing the images in the illuminations globe. It looks like I will not have the same problem with these taco barges.

Now the massive center circle thing, unless that rotates there are only two places to see that good.

In my opinion I wish they just updated the technology on the center globe and kept the rest the same.

I often find World of Colors not so great either, unless you get that perfect dead on view.

I think Fantasmic is most effective use of them.

But again, I think it makes sense to not want to use mist screens. I just would have hoped they would have found a better solution for these huge screens.

It doesn't rotate. It's a water screen and the structure is bolted to its vertical position. I'd welcome some witchcraft to pull it off but they obviously went with making it big just to be big.

They went from a self contained barge that had a spinning opening gyro sphere with continent shaped screens to taco shaped screens almost similar to something you’d see on the side of I95. Only came to the center of the lake for 3 quarters of a show, went back stage at night and sat off to the side during the day. It powered itself, can you believe that, if you went to Epcot Joe Harmonious this would seem like something that you may see in an upcoming show.
