Refillable Mugs from March 2012 - will they work in Nov?

I have to disagree on that. The only stealing of space from you would be if someone simply came in and commandeered the room at that resort that you had paid for. The price difference in resorts isn't based on the kind of pool they have there. But.....that's only my take on it. Not trying to be argumentative or get this thread off-track.
But, they kind of are. The more you pay for a resort the better the pool is(ie: slides, themeing, etc...).
Just my opinion.

The pool is very much reflected in the price. You will notice that the deluxe have superior pools to those found at the values. They are also designed for the capacity of the resort, and not for people to use them from outside of that resort. Using the pool in a resort that you are not staying at impacts the guests who are staying there by increasing load on the pool in a way that it was not designed for.

I still have to disagree, if only because I'm thinking about the rather weak pool area/design at the Wilderness Lodge, which is a deluxe resort. And I've stayed at the Boardwalk and wasn't overly impressed with the pool there, either. I've seen more appealing pools at mid-level resorts such as Caribbean Beach. For me, personally, we don't take the time out to spend in the resort pools. I find more value in the location of the resort than in the kind of pool that it has.

when people steal even pop rates go up to cover the damage the most common stolen thing from DIsney is Watches , It was told to me before on a trip but thats why they raise there rates so really if you buy the cup it ends up SAVING money lol

We need time for things to happen.
You're stealing the cost of the new mug from Disney. You should buy a new one like you're supposed to.

And he is an idiot with zero class. Did he by any chance look like this?

for us, we don't pool hop at any other resorts. And always buy new cups even for the 3 year old which is 4 cups total, thats why we have shelves of these cups at home, I get made when I see other people w/ old cups!

When you pay for your hotel, you are paying to stay that hotel and use its facilities. You buy your refillable mug to use at your hotel on that trip.

Simple.

Pool hopping is an approved perk for DVC members. It is one of the selling points for DVC. So it seems someone at Disney considers it to have value.

Which I find quite irritating.

It's just a slap in the face of all logic for the reasons they do not allow hopping to other guests.

What if all DVC members at one time decided to visit the same pool as the hotel that I'm staying at....I would be quite upset...as you would as well.

Thanks for the input. I have NEVER in the 19 years I have been a WDW visitor thought about doing this. What I can say, is that Six Flags allows you to use the same cup for the year.

Also it seems EVERY week has either free food or discounts.

(PS: I've never pool hopped)

What if someone not staying at your resort decided to come over and stand in the hallway in front of your door thus obstructing you from accessing what you paid for?

That's really not a realistic possibility. It could happen, but a meteor dropping in the pool is way more likely than thousands of guest from dozens of hotels all skipping all the entertainment at WDW and showing up at a single pool, so I'm sure no one in WDW management is concerned, and neither am I. And honestly if it did happen I'd either just hit another pool, because they'd all be empty, or go to DTD or a park.

I have never pool hopped, except for dipping my tired feet in the Poly pool while waiting for 'Ohanas, even though I am entitled to the perk. It's just something I'm not into, but if a DVC member wants to spend time trying all the interesting pools on property I don't begrudge them that enjoyment one bit.

I was just offering a fact refuting the idea that the pools and pool hopping have no monetary value. Whether you consider it right or wrong it is against the rules for most guests, and would be considered theft.

I agree, but it is arguably a nonenforceable legality if you allow SOME people the right to use it but not others.

All reasoning is thrown out the window by allowing DVC members usage of a non-DVC pool.

Mitch, I read your post & it sorta occurred to me that in May when we stated at Pop I had the passing thought that it'd be cool if I'd remembered to bring one of our old "Grand Opening" Pop mugs to make my morning coffee in. I wouldn't have used it as in go dispense in it at the drink station like it was a current/newly purchased mug. I wouldn't do that plus I won't drink the nasty coffee anyway. I brought my own Starbucks Via. Buuuut it sure would've appeared tacky, huh? Also, on our cruises we like to bring our own cups or tumblers to drink out of. For cleanliness reasons I don't dispense into them. I dispense into the paper cups them dump them into our cups. What if an old resort-specific mug was brought for the novelty (which they **are** a novelty now) but not abused? I could see myself doing that. Obviously I've seen people abuse the system which never fails to annoy. I just realized how something novel in my mind could really appear tacky if I'm drinking from my old mug in a resort food court. LOL!

Isn't the DVC pool hopping privileges for other DVC resorts with the exception of Stormalong Bay, not all resorts? Just curious. That's how I understood that to work.

It's completely enforceable. The DVC members have paid extra for that perk, just like extra magic hours. It is a perk. By definition all perks are something above and beyond the norm. There are perks for DVC, annual passes, and for staying on property, as well as many other things. WDW can choose how and when to enforce those limitations and exceptions, but it definitely has the power to do so.
