Refillable mug questions

Such as the ones you get with the DDPs

Are these good in the parks, or only at the resorts? And are they only good at that one resort from which you first get it?

I don't know how any of this works, and I also will probably be doing a split stay.

They have no chips/stickers in the hotels now. They did a trial run quite a while back, but it's just regular old mugs now.

The water parks have a sticker. After you buy the mug, you can just buy the sticker for future visits. I think the sticker is $7, but am not sure. I really don't know how it works because I never bought one.

When on the dining plan we would use our mug as our morning drink then get a bottle of soda/powerade as the drink with the plan and take them into the parks with us. All resort soda towers are closed at night for cleaning. There are soda machines but they run at $3.00 a bottle I thought. I did this once after a late night at the park and the soda was two months past expiration. I had to walk all the way to the front desk for a refund.

I do not mind disney mugs from any year/resort being used. I do have a problem when people bring their huge big gulp mugs and fill them up. Sometimes I just cant bite my tongue because they are getting over.

Does anyone know how they work in park? I remember in park ones in 2004...

They do not work in the parks. Only at the hotels.

Technically, I think you are only supposed to use it at YOUR hotel, but I don't think there's any enforcement of that. Especially now that all the mugs look the same. That being said, the only places I could even imagine you would WANT to try and use it at another hotel would be Pop / AoA or maybe the All Stars / Port Orleans, since they are so close to each other.

Oh. I don't recall seeing them at Disney on any of my recent trips. I think they went the way of the refillable popcorn bucket.

Once again, the hotel mugs are good ONLY in the hotels and cannot be used in the parks (unless you're filling them up with water from a fountain or pouring something you bought into them.)

The water parks have their own refillable mug thing going on, which is in no way connected to the 4 main parks or the hotels.

in 2004 you could buy ones in the parks that were for use in the parks :) and as someone mentioned them on the 1st page seeing them in QS places thought id ask cause would be useful to know if they still did them/how they work since they were believed to be refillable, cause we used ours alot. Thats all :)

I think they still have park specific mugs, but I don't believe they are refillable anymore!

Last time I did it, the sticker was a bar code. You scanned the bar code at the soda fountain, and it turned on for just about long enough to fill up your mug. The sticker had the day of the week on it, so I wager it was a different bar code for each day of the week.

Some of the stands that sell coffee/hot chocolate may offer the same style mugs for sale. Much like the popcorn buckets, you just pay extra for a non refillable container. A few years back during on the cold snaps I bought one of the mugs during MVMCP, and then just dumped the free hot chocolate into that all night long instead of trying to double fist tiny cups of cocoa.

We also did this! We would either get a beverage for the parks or stick it in the resort room fridge for later if we arrived back late and the machines were down! Off topic, we used a Brita water bottle for the parks (so if we got water with our meals it went into the fridge), we filled the Brita with ice and water it stayed cold for a long time!

The water parks have their own mug system going on, too. Not sure how that works, but you can't use your hotel mug there, either.

Basically, you buy a mug from them that has a sticker on it. You scan the sticker at a refill station and it allows you to get a drink for that day only. For other days, you can buy a new sticker and put it on the mug to scan. They don't care if you use a Blizzard Beach mug at Typhoon Lagoon or vice versa.
