Refillable cups

I know that the cups are only really good throughout your visit. but i have seen people in All-Star with cups from the wilderness lodge from 2004. Is Disney not really strict on this rule? every year we go we get 4 mugs and we now have at least 16 in our household.Main question here is even though i know it's not really allowed, are you going to get in trouble with Disney if you bring cups from previous years?

$13.00 divided by $.05 = 260 mugs of soda before Disney starts to lose money. I could drink that much on a hot, humid afternoon. :)
Dude... I hardly know what water is because I drink so much soda, but thinking about drinking 200+ syrupy mugs of soda on a hot, humid day... :hurl:

Okay... So, I have an All-star mug from 1998 and a Caribbean beach mug from I-don't-know-when. I looked all over those things, and did not see anything about "good for current visit only" or anything like that. What I DO think I remember from the 1998 trip is being under the impression that they were good for refills for forever (or at least for that entire year?), BUT only at the resort that it was from (in this case, ASM, I think).
So, IS there an ethical or legal dilemma here? I honestly was under the impression that I could use the mug for as long as I liked, as long as it was at THAT resort... I bet Disney would rather let me refill mugs until I'm dead than give me the money back that I paid for it in order to clear up the matter...

I loved it when they had resort specific mugs...made it worth getting a new mug each trip since it would be a new design if you were to switch resorts like we do everytime we go.

I also agree that other than our nightly or morning swim, we never hang out at the hotel enough to really use it. I have seen people carry them around the parks...that would be very annoying. Sometimes we get them, sometimes we do not.

When we do purchase it, it definately pays for itself but it is annoying to keep running to the food court. Maybe if they had soda stations attached to the buildings it would be used more. Then it could be in a machine style where you just scan your bar code and put the cup under it. Aha!!

But yeah, I think a new cup should be purchased each time.

Does anyone have a pic of the new mug design? We got the blue-ish snowflake-y one last year which was the same as the year before except that they removed the 2007 off the handle.

With the dining plan i have i get a free refilable mug so it doesnt really matter to me what it is but if i wasnt gettin it for free yea there would be a problem not havin a resort themed one lol the one i have from the poly was sweet.lol well technically i did pay for it i paid for the dining plan lol

Nothing personal meant towards Bagheera26, but therein lies the problem. This explains the whole issue.

If you can't figure out what I mean, then you are part of the problem.

The mugs are $13--a "drop in the bucket" compared to the total cost of your WDW stay. Do people really cart these mugs back and forth on each visit? I do have a souvenir mug from "Dixie Landings" but all the others are left behind when we leave out of there. I usually need all the space necessary for other souvenirs, and the mugs are the least important item.

Wow, calm down. I was referring to the Dining Plan being the culprit of the genericizing of the mugs. That, and people accepting it as all that they SHOULD get.

That's why I prefaced my remark how I did. You weren't suppose to take it personal.

Haha...yes people cart them back and forth and attach them to their backpacks in the parks. I understand that if you drink all the time, it saves money, but it seems more like an annoyance to me

i will be buying a new mug, and have done every time ive been.
but heres something to throw into the argument.
people pay the fixed price of $13 for the length of stay, so its the same price if your staying for 3 nights or 14, that averaged out, the people who stay for less time i bet are disney regulars and know the tricks, and the longer 14 day holiday guests are probably new or overseas guests who wouldnt know about reusing. so it probably all equals out any way.last time i stayed i gave our mugs to some people we got to know ,when we left, and they used them!
