Some of this, such as the waste management and utilities, is handled by Reedy Creek Energy Services, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. Those services could continue to be contracted out to the company.
Who the heck knows? This is a war. We have no idea what's going to happen.
But don't worry. The tourists won't be affected, only the locals.

I'd imagine that an arrangement would be made with Orange County Fire & Rescue similar to that of the Orange County Sheriff's Office Sector 6, which maintains a permanent presence on WDW property that is solely focused on the WDW property.
Functionally, nothing would change other than the sign outside the building.

Why are people talking about WDW no longer operating in FL?

WDW isn't going anywhere. It doesn't *need* a special district. It'll be fine.

It will, tho, no longer be afraid of the FL government with nothing left to hold over them.

That's sort of freeing, no? To contribute to candidates and PAC more aligned to its business and ethos rather than having to butter both sides of the bread.
I don’t how see how losing their special administrative and tax abilities can be viewed as a “win” for Disney in anyway.

But it’s moot because it’s never gonna Happen.

At the cost of the taxpayer...
Those countries are horribly underfunded even with Disney…you know why?

Cause they’re in Florida
I believe that Disney foots most, if not all, of the bill for OCSO Sector 6 operations. That would likely be the case if the counties provide a "dedicated" or targeted force for Fire/EMS to WDW property, which would likely be a necessity.

These costs will be passed on to the taxpayers. This is bad!

Maybe, once the two counties get saddled with the Special District, instead of incorporating them as separate towns, the county can make a special district of them...
Yup... Reedy Creek Improvement District would probably be replaced with County Services Reedy Creek Improvement District :)

All this fear mongering about people's property taxes is so over the top. Do people even think things through before repeating? Orange County alone is full of special tax districts to do exactly what people are freaking out about here. Funding infrastructure and services. And they have things like the Orange County Flood Control District.. to do the kind of land management RCID was doing, etc.

Those are assets owned by a legal entity. They won't just "get them". Florida statute doesn't allow government to acquire assets of another entity without some compensation.
The assets I'm talking about are the district's - which are assumed as well by the same provision.

It will never be implemented in reedy creek…

But If yahoos in any of the hundreds of others across the state feel like they can get at someone…like maybe the villages trying to eliminate their homeowners associations? Then everyone would end up suffering and getting the shaft (easy layup villages joke there)

Florida statute governs HOAs.

So you think property taxes will be unaffected by the removal of RCID???
This stinks and it's all over a law that can not be enforced and will probably be overturned and RCID will still be gone.

Regardless, the government retaliating against a company because its executives expressed an opinion contrary to their own should concern everyone.

Orange and Osceola County property owners weren't taxed for the services Reedy Creek provided to WDW. You are shifting services performed by a special district to county governments that will have to acquire the revenue by way of taxes to provide those services. Unless the 2 counties basically recreate Reedy Creek, but by referendum.
