No, because I don’t practice anything remotely close to this area of law but I do appreciate your frequent attempts to keep this thread on track.

I come to this thread to read updates about the governor’s spat and do get somewhat annoyed reading legal analysis about what a “shoe in” an “open and shut” case this is for Disney.
I totally get that, but people come here with all levels of knowledge and interest in the subject. If they’re willing to discuss in good faith and don’t close their minds to new information, it helps to know what everyone is thinking - not just the experts.

I know this is a small issue in the grand scheme of things and is slightly unconnected. Can the state prevent Disney from holding runDisney events? As the races require roads to be closed.
Normally, I would say he is not that petty. But I think he might be.
Wow, that does sound like something RonnyBaby would do.

Let's hope RonnyBaby's staff does not read https://forums.wdwmagic.com/ ;)
The blowback on the runDisney community would be crazy. I am only just starting to get into in-person racing I really hope this doesn't happen.
That won't matter to the Board. What will matter is the millions in additional revenues the race weekends generate...and not just from registration fees.
I think runDisney will be just fine. Here’s a picture of CFTOD board member Brian Aungst Jr.

(Yes, this is real.)

As a right leaning moderate this whole situation has just become depressing and disheartening, the excitement I had for DeSantis has turned into despair, he’s just Trump Jr at this point.

He handled Covid so well (from a conservative viewpoint) and has absolutely blown all that good will with this petty fight.

The threats today are the last straw for me, I can’t support someone this vindictive and blind to our constitution no matter how much I hate the other candidate, he is no more a conservative than Trump is.

Looks like we’ve once again found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

His new threats are the threats of a desperate and humiliated man having been made to look like the amateur that he is. This isn't about what is right for Florida and Floridians, this is about trying to save face with the voters, but, they need to understand this is all about him getting to the White House, not Tallahasee. And if he did become POTUS is he going to do exactly the same to any large corporation that criticises him?
In the meantime let's attempt to hurt the economy of Central Florida, because adding taxes to hotels won't stop people vacationing, but, they will look elsewhere, especially overseas visitors, Japan is now easy to get to and doing research has made it even more desirable for me personally. And Central Florida isn't just Disney, it was just the first to arrive. The owners of Universal, Sea World and hotel chains, anyone with investment in the tourist industry should come out and back Disney, strength is in numbers. This sad little demagogue needs to shut up and concentrate on more important things than this silly campaign against Disney.
By the way, consider a promise Boris Johnson made during the Brexit campaign about the money that would no longer go to the EU would be going to the NHS. That never happened, so the money Ron claims he'd get from taxing Disney, do you seriously believe he'd spend it on infrastructure? And eco warriors, the RCID is pledged to protect large parts of the district that would be destroyed under the new board. The numbers of wild animals we could look out for, deer, turkeys, wild pigs and others are a rare sight now, they'll be even rarer when more land is 'developed'

As much as I hate him abusing his position to punish a corporation I’m even more concerned with how he’d respond to a country that dared oppose him. He’s had several chances to end this spat with Disney, a couple that would have even given him a draw/small win, and instead has chosen to escalate the situation every time, if he can’t even handle diplomacy with Disney how can he be trusted to handle difficult and often tense relationships with hostile countries like China?

This pit bull attitude may be attractive to the far right but I think it’s driving the center away, and no amount of post primary backtracking will likely get them back. They may not vote for the other guy but if they stay home it has nearly the same affect.

Cooler heads will prevail but I don't see DeSantis in this category if a more serious crisis develops under his rule.
