The continuous monetary resources i.e. tourists, travelers, visitors and guests going to the parks will not be paying attention, noticing or caring about the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. Business is business and it will continue just fine.
They'll notice if Disney is slower to update infrastructure, causing traffic jams, etc.

Or theme park or regulatory experience. I had heard rumours that Fried might be named chair, but I think that may have fallen through. Also had expected perhaps a theme park academic or something, since people with actual theme park experience seemed to be right out...
I'm surprised they didn't bring back Al Weiss, who is both well known republican loyalist in Central Florida and actually knows a bit of theme park administration.

Wait... no, I'm not. Because they want to make this a pain for Disney.

Hmmmmm. Maybe, just maybe, some creativity might occur and sayyy build overhead solar panel arrays over the multitude of parking lots the property has thus providing shade and harvesting solar energy for power and not further destroying green space. Just a thought.

Who is saying the business will not continue just fine? WDW isn’t going anywhere. Many of the people blindly supporting this nonsense will also be spending thousands at the Disney parks this year. They have Disney+, they will see Disney movies some may even go on a Disney cruise too. it’s easy to take a side in an online debate. Very few people have the fortitude to actually change their behavior in any way.

All we can do is wait and see. The board doesn’t have much wiggle room because the vast majority of what they approve doesn’t have a downside whatsoever thereby making it difficult to justify not approving something.

If the board does act in an unreasonably hostile manner, Disney will need to reevaluate their decision not to pursue a lawsuit.
This just isn’t true. There are all sorts of reasons that projects get delayed and killed in planning that are not well reasoned.

I’m pretty sure the party calling the shots there is very much against more solar power so you may get half your wish….no more solar over green space. The parking lot plan makes way too much sense so will never happen.

You know what's funny?

I never got why they didn't go this route in the first place...must be a reason I am not aware of??...

Cost mostly. It’s much cheaper to build over vacant ground. The supports are much lower to the ground so less material and no worry about structural integrity. The parking lot plan would be more expensive but I thought they could pay for it by offering VIP covered parking at an additional higher rate. The best alternative would probably be panels over all the various buildings on property. So many roofs are back stage and not visible to guests.
