Yea, that's gonna work. DeSantis is laughing....
It may not work but this is the second legal challenge we’ve seen that isn’t actually coming from Disney. RCID hasn’t formally filed anything but has claimed harm was done to them directly. Now taxpayers in surrounding counties and I’m sure at some point RCID bondholders will file. The last 2 are Federal cases which will bypass the FL courts altogether.

The bigger question is why would they remove it?

Removing it won't happen -- they'd have to get at least one Democrat on board in the Senate while also keeping all 50 Republicans together. It seems like the kind of thing that even some Republican Senators would be opposed to if only for safety reasons.

Even then they almost certainly wouldn't be able to get it through the House. Of course that could all change in 6 months, but I imagine they'll have moved on to other things by then.

It's also a federal statute, there's nothing the FL legislature can do about it.
I know it’s off topic here but the argument to remove the no fly zone makes no sense. We should add more no fly zones around large tourist areas not take them away. These zones have very little impact on commercial aviation since in most cases a plane flying over 3,000 feet up is fine. They do temporary no fly zones over sports stadiums and other events. This is just good public safety. Figure out another way to punish Disney. Ban multiple super heroes from appearing in the same movie, make May 4th national proctologist day so each year on that date people will think of a rectal exam instead of a galaxy far far away, ban all royalty from appearing in animated movies, ban anyone from naming their son Walt, etc, etc….

So you think that a lot of politicians are simply going to get on the tear Disney apart bandwagon for more money?
Among other reasons, yes. Right now the cool thing to do in the GOP and among their base is to go after Disney and woke corporations. That’s why so many in Florida jumped on the Reedy Creek bandwagon even though it was against their own best interests, and now others around the country are trying to find their way in too. So Nehls in Texas decided to go after the no-fly zone, and Hawley chose to use the copyright extension.

Three.

Good info. I’m just curious why it matters how many taxpayers are suing. All it takes is 1. It’s not like they are suing for personal damage. The remedy they seek is to block the debt from going to the counties which will benefit every taxpayer in both counties regardless of whether they support the action or not.

I'm wondering if any Orange/Osceola county taxpayers can prove standing in their lawsuit in federal court if there has not yet been any economic injury, which is the basis for their claim? Perhaps one of our resident lawyers can weigh in?
If the Governor releases his plan which he claims he has and he claims does not result in any FL taxpayers other than Disney paying more I think the case gets thrown out.
