Some of are also upset that elected officials who have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution are violating that oath and abusing their power by punishing others for constitutionally protected free speech. The people who are angry that Disney is losing their fiefdom which saves them millions, per the WSJ, aren’t exactly free market capitalists. What they’re really angry about is that corporations will now think twice about injecting woke ideology into their businesses because they know there will be pushback.
Depends on how petty they want to be. They could jump back in with CA and use it as a way to patch things up there. They could jump to a new state that is desperate for new tax dollars and will give them great deals. They could move more cruises outside of Florida ports. Really everything is on the table. Well, except shutting down WDW. They won’t do that but they can certaintly limit any new money going to Florida. But to where ? They've poisoned all the current wells they have a foothold in.
If all else fails…Disney wins here:But to where ? They've poisoned all the current wells they have a foothold in.
No, that’s not how it works. People cannot use the force of government to exact revenge on their enemies.Yes, you are helping me make my point. "Every Person" including the FL elected officials, and they did it.
You can if you govern in China or RussiaNo, that’s not how it works. People cannot use the force of government to exact revenge on their enemies.
Uh noYes, you are helping me make my point. "Every Person" including the FL elected officials, and they did it.
It’s very unlikely they would do anything on the campus but revert it back to California….it gives them more stability/legitimacy in business to have it near a park compound.Depends on how petty they want to be. edited to add: Not that they would, but it would be funny if they lowered prices just so tax revenue to the state dropped enough for people to take notice.
I hope this move only spurs Disney and other corporations to continue resisting and speaking out against unfair policies. The people who are angry that Disney is losing their fiefdom which saves them millions, per the WSJ, aren’t exactly free market capitalists. What they’re really angry about is that corporations will now think twice about injecting woke ideology into their businesses because they know there will be pushback.
Yep, which is why I think he may step in and work to get them some incentives to bring all that extra investment home. He wants to win political points too. Who knows in the end but I do believe this will be a net lose for the state of Florida financially when it is all said and done. It’s very unlikely they would do anything on the campus but revert it back to California….it gives them more stability/legitimacy in business to have it near a park compound.
The joker in this game is Gavin Newsome…who would live to stick it to Ron Jon to settle scores
Disney can't leave. If they could leave, they would have left Anaheim a long time ago. They can't.I hope that campus is done…never wanted it there because it was bull crap corporate politics on the opposite side…
But that area - as with 90% of central Florida - exists because Disney is there.
Orlando residents tend to be awful at historical context.
In a way you're right in that people are angry/worried about the government being used to silence dissenting opinions on its policies. Conversely, others seem fine with this as long as the government is being used to silence the views of those they disagree with. What side you find yourself on regardless of your views on the actual issue should tell you a little something about your own political beliefs. The people who are angry that Disney is losing their fiefdom which saves them millions, per the WSJ, aren’t exactly free market capitalists. What they’re really angry about is that corporations will now think twice about injecting woke ideology into their businesses because they know there will be pushback.
I meant the new lake nona thing…Disney can't leave. If they could leave, they would have left Anaheim a long time ago. They can't.
It’s not a claim when it’s true. There is a math problem in the new textbook in Florida that is a statistical evaluation with racism as the subject matter. It give statistics of how “racist” you are given your political view.Hang on! The villain here is the one who signed the 'Don't Say Gay' law, not the high profile company or it's CEO.
We now see DeSantis and his cronies rejecting math books claiming they promote critical race theory and GOP activists going on TV claiming Disney parks are a hotbed for pedophiles and the Disney company sexualises young girls, these kind of 'accusations' are standard GOP tactics when someone stands up to them. It's pathetic and immoral and this nonsense needs to be tackled. If Chapek had said nothing he and Disney would look like they are supporting all this vitriolic right wing bile. The best thing Disney could do is stop any donations to the Florida GOP until they grow up, stop acting like high school mean girls and work for the betterment of their state. State before party.
You’re far too political/correctThe funny/sad thing is the same politicians who said local government should make policies for local government are flip flopping now. The Conservative party is the party now who makes laws upon laws.
What party is overstepping its bounds now? Look back at the rallies Hitler had before he took control. History is repeating itself and that side still calls the left the mob.
Wait???? Are you telling me it doesn't take Disney two years to get its permits approved by RCID like when I go to my city permit office and try to get approval to resurface my parking lot (10 cars)? To be completely fair, RCID really only has one entity pulling permits, not thousands of different companies and people from all over with all different subjects and things that need to be looked into. I doubt there has ever been a permit that TWDC asked for that RCID didn't grant.
exactly the government cannot use the law to violate the constitutional rights of the people (and corporations according to SCOTUS)They have every right as people to vocally oppose Disney for not backing the bill. Using the power you were given by the people to attempt to silence a dissenter is not right. Free speech protects people from government suppression. It doesn’t protect the government from criticism.
You’re city being mismanaged is not relevant. The local jurisdictions aren’t taking two years to issue building permits. You can go look up permits right now and see how long they are taking. Sesame Street Land was designed, permitted and built in about 18 months.Wait???? Are you telling me it doesn't take Disney two years to get its permits approved by RCID like when I go to my city permit office and try to get approval to resurface my parking lot (10 cars)?
Overstepping it's bounds? It's not like the political left tried to force 100,000,000 American workers at private companies and an additional 4,000,000 federal employees and 5,000,000 contractors to receive a vaccine, potentially against their will. Do you forget how they forced private landlords to let rent-delinquent tenants stay on their property in perpetuity until the SCOTUS had to stop them not once, but twice? The funny/sad thing is the same politicians who said local government should make policies for local government are flip flopping now. The Conservative party is the party now who makes laws upon laws.

I'm not challenging your assertion, but could you provide the title, author, and publisher of this textbook? I'd like to see this one for myself. It’s not a claim when it’s true.
