Red Sox official makes "exploratory" visit to Disney sports complex

Ahh. It was only a matter of time before someone made a dirogetory comment about my beloved team. Anyway, does anyone know if two teams have ever shared the same facility for spring training? I am wondering what difficulties might arise?

I'll be honest... I've lived in Rhode Island all my life so I was a member of the nation and I've witnessed the rivalry first hand and my college dorm was almost burned down in 2003 due to the Red Sox victories (embarrassing when they lost that year...). And after hating the Yankees since time and memorial, I've found a new team to hate since moving down to Florida. The Tampa Bay Rays...

Not so much because the Rays aren't good (they're impressive but I will hold my judgement on how good they are), but because I can't watch a game on TV with those two announcers who shouldn't be allowed in a ballpark. They are god awful and it makes the whole thing ten times worse. At least Remdawg and Orsillo were somewhat neutral in their commentating. I can even take the Yankee commentators.

So sorry for bashing your beloved team but as a sox fan I felt I had to.

NoNo. I am a die hard Yankees fan and I never understood people who got really heated over the rivalry. I mean it is nice to tease but some people go a bit far. To me, it would be somewhat boring without the rivalry. In a way, I have to be thankful for the Sox(I can't believe I just said that):lol: As much as I hate to admit it, the rivalry has gotten better since you guys won because now the competition is more even.

I seem to remember that the Braves had a twenty year lease at DWWS, not sure about buyouts, or such. They started playing in DWWS in 1997.

It's almost like the rivalry between the Sox and Rays is heating up more than the Sox/Yanks...with all of the hit batsmen and the brawls :lol:

I agree with you on the rivalry, it's nice to tease but many people take it too far. We were down at the World during the 2004 playoffs and had fun teasing some of the Yankee fans, but there were some Red Sox Fans who took it too far.

I agree, there are many red sox fans that give the rest of us bad names. I can't help but get into the rivalry (my sister is a Yankee fan and I have to bust her) but I don't care for the "fans" who take it too far.

It seems the consensus opinion (of at least those on sonsofsamhorn.net) is that the Red Sox will actually move to Sarasota instead of Disney.
