Record numbers of South American tour groups expected this summer

That's a shame. Sorry that was your experience. I had pretty good luck when I park hopped last year.

Oh I didn't have any 'bad' experiences with them, not that I can recall so I'm guessing I didn't. I just know they don't just congregate to one park, they're pretty much all over Orlando on any given day in July.

All's well and good until you go to get a fastpass with only one person ahead of you at the machine and you realize that one person is getting 60 fastpasses. Ugh! Or until 2 people are holding space in line ahead of you for those other 58 people.

Would you prefer that there be 60 people in front of you instead of one?

I think the issue with FP is that if you see 60 people in front of you, you choose a different line. If you see one person in front of you, who then magically produces 60 tickets, it's a problem for those behind.

I agree, this has to be the worst and I always pick the wrong line.

This happened to me two different times last summer. We were half way through the lines when all of a sudden theres a huge line of people working their way through the queue to get in front of us. And unfortunately, what can you really do?

This is an epidemic with these tour groups. This happened on BTMRR one time. We were in the descending ramp area and all of a sudden this yellow wave was rushing towards us, overwhelming the normal guests waiting in line patiently. Cast Members were powerless to stop this yellow tsunami. They finally reached their leaders flag. The crowd was becoming increasingly aggravated as we came up for air. Many of us let every cast member we saw know what had happened, and it seemed, that in the end they were at least spoken to about what they had done. Alas, I do not believe it made much of a difference.

Maybe in Brazil you do not wait in line. Maybe it is a fight to the finish and the strongest go first?

Record numbers of South American Tour groups aren't a problem.

Obnoxious guests are a problem.

There are obnoxious people in the parks from all countries.

Bam.

This is what becomes the problem. I have no problem with where anyone comes from or what group they may belong to. However, when you decide that you want to scream and mosh pit in the middle of main street (as I saw about 50 people do in January when I was there) then I have a problem. We all pay a lot to go to the parks and enjoy them, and I think that everyone should respect that no matter who they are or where they come from.

Do what I do, block the line and make them wait behind me! I tell them that thier friends can always wait until the line catches up to them. Done this several times, always work but they then pretend to not understand any English at all but they can say all they like in portuguese as I don't speak that either!

I cheer inside when I see people like you! :sohappy: If only I were that bold...Ha!

The company has released information to all its parks to try to prepare CMs for the tour groups, and help prevent situations like this.

From my understanding, they do not understand the concept of queuing, as Brazil is very crowded. Disney has communicated to the tour leaders regarding expected behavior and processes, and the groups are officially supposed to send one person to the FastPass machines to gather FPs for the whole group. The best thing the rest of us can do is avoid any FP line with a bright t-shirt! :D

Too bad Disney can't just ban tour groups, but why would they when they bring in so much revenue?

Typically it has to be the first year I go in July... oh well, I will be in my happy place!

Although I have been there late July two years ago and was not bothered by the famous touring concerns, although the parks were quite busy.

Have a great, trouble-free trip!!

The problem is the entirety of EVERY South American tour group is obnoxious. You think dealing with them as a guest as bad? Try it as a cast member. There have been multiple times I've wanted to learn Portugese just so I could tell every Brazilian guest I encounter to GTFO, because clearly if I say it in English they'll just smile and nod because none of them take the time to learn a word of it before they come here.

It's actually amazing how many DO speak English, but choose NOT to so that they can continue their behavior under the pretense of ignorance.
