I saw the ladder not once, but twice! Once it was in use at the McDonalds by Blizzard Beach. It was assisting the change of a light bulb. I later saw it hanging out underneath Catastrophe Canyon. I can only assume that it used to live behind a house facade on Residential Street, but was evicted during the construction of LMA and is now homeless and has to live under CC.

I don't understand the whole thing about the ladder. What's so interesting about it?

Ok, a brief history of The Ladder: *ahem* A long time ago in a theme park far, far away...

A glorious attraction was under construction. An attraction that, when completed, would constitute the most powerful weapon in the DISNEY REBELLION'S ongoing stuggle against UNIVERSAL, sworn enemy of the GALACTIC ALLIANCE. A lone soul was instrumental in the construction of this weapon: the young Jedi, LUKE SKYLADDER. This plucky young rebel held the key to defeating the EVIL EMPEROR MUMMY and paving the way for TRUTH and JUSTICE in the galaxy...

:lookaroun

Translation: during a photo update of the construction of Mission: Space, a ladder kept showing up. A joke started along the lines of "The attraction will now be 'Mission: Ladder'" and degenerated from there.

I'm glad you asked. I've been afraid to ask for fear of retribution.

I think it's a symbolic thing too, it's like this...In the golden days (when they did all the maintenance at night) you'd never see something like a ladder leaning around the parks, I mean WHY would they need a ladder to fix something when they have say Tink to fly up and change the light bulbs at night?....nothing brings me back to reality more than seeing a piece of maintenance equipment laying around when we all know the parks are SUPPOSED to magically renew themselves every night!

I hate to say this, but I don't think "the" ladder exists. That is, it seems more likely that, unless there are some identifying marks on it, Disney probably bought a lot of the same TYPE of ladder, and we see many of those everywhere.

Or was that already obvious to everyone, making me look really stupid right now?

yeh, have you priced ladders at your local hardware store.......... i have. a 6' is around $75.......... a 12' to 14' (in which looks like the height of The Ladder) is $125 or more.

It just isnt in the budget to have one at each park. no way.

Wow. Did you really ask that? Even after you stopped and thought it through? :lookaroun

The ladder is one of the funniest long running jokes on this board. And it's amazing how often the wise and omnipotent ladder chooses to show itself to us. I myself saw the ladder just a couple weeks ago aiding in the Main Street train station efforts. I was in awe.
