Realistic Imagineering - WDW 5th Gate Project

I'd rather not get into the Shanghai 5.5 Billion range. Unless that's what people want. I was thinking about keeping it low to focus on simple stuff - like ride/maintenance cost. There are a lot of variable as to why Shanghai is over budget (construction delays, contracts, etc) I would rather stick to the Econ 101 scenario of "everything is perfect" and "nothing ever goes over budget"

If I made it 5 billion we would see like 13 Tower of Terrors at 140 million each which was what I was trying to avoid.

More of a friendly competition. People reply when they're ready. I was just curious what everyone would come up with. I was also curious about the interest level.

What rules would you like elaborated?
Make sense.. Hmm I'll take a better look at it jn the morning

I really like this idea and I also like imagineering! The problem is that I tend to make parks too big. And thats because I'm not good with finances and scales. I do want to follow this thread to learn more about this
If you make a park with this scale, figure a park about the size of the Magic Kingdom. About 5-6 "lands" should suffice.
I wish I could post soon, but I'm going on vacation on Thursday for a week... My concept won't be posted until at least a week from Friday, maybe later.
Don't worry about it. Post it when you have time, there's no rush!

I'd love to a get an outline ready by next Friday, so we'll see what happens.

When the land is unsustainable, is there anyway to change that (for Phases 2 and so on), or is it sealed shut for development?
I believe part of DHS was built on semi-sustainable land. The rest on sustainable land. There may be government intervention needed for building on unsustainable land. Also wildlife conservation committees. If all of that is approved then Disney might be able to, it's just going to cost a lot more to make the land sustainable.

The most cost effective route would be to build on sustainable land and there is enough here for a bunch of phases!

1st AMENDMENT TO THE WDW 5th GATE PROJECT:

There have been some questions about budgets/prices for certain attractions/shows/M&Gs etc. In order to level the playing field and so that everything is clear, I wanted to lay out an "OFFICIAL GUIDELINE" for costs of attraction types. I put that in quotes because all of these prices can be altered in the real world. However for the sake of our friendly competition, we want to make everything as fair and balanced as possible. I listed some of the most expensive attractions built and their prices, however there is an eclectic variety of other attractions where prices can vary. So I am going to simplify it and make all prices standardized. It still gives all of you creative power over your designs and makes it easier to determine yourselves how much certain attractions will cost.

Well, my idea suddenly became very expensive! XD That is incredibly useful though, thanks :)

Wow...That's a lot!:D I think I pretty much get it now. Thanks!

Also, I have a question about how this will work...It's a friendly competition, so does that mean that there will be a winner or even eliminations, or whoever plays?

I'm hoping its friendly, so anyone can join in, but in a way that still allows people to "win", or at least have some sort of scoring system.

There will be a winner but there will be no eliminations. At least since this is my first time doing something like this. My thought was to have each one of the contestants have a guest survey at the end of their park description post, and other competitors can comment (or PM) their responses.

After the guest survey stage is complete, each contestant will receive a PM'd budget for their next phase based on the guest survey responses. Once everyone's park is complete (after a couple of phases), then we will pick the winner.

I thought this would be easier time wise because everyone doesn't have to come up with 50 attractions at once. It can be spread out over weeks on the thread and you can see your park evolve throughout the years!

For the shows you mentioned BATB + LMA, but let's say we want to put as much theming into it as Off Kilter for example would this be considered a small show?

For parking is the 10 mil for each parking lot or all of it?

What if we were doing a projection show on the icon or water would we use the fireworks budget too?

Land Renovation I would guess would mean flattening the land?

There's no mention of flat rides does that mean we cant use them?

Anyone can join, though if you join late you have to catch up quick if you want a chance to win. It wouldn't be fair to the other contestants if you were allowed extra time to complete phases. That would also mean you'd have to complete all the phases up until you join on the original budget given which is $1.5 Billion, because that again wouldn't be fair to the people who were on time.

Ah that's fun, you could see the new "underdog" park rising up past the old classic parks! I love it!

So, with all the time stuff now, is it still ok if I complete it in a few weeks?
