I was sleeping in this morning (no school) and my husband mentioned that Orlando had snow flurries. Can anyone confirm this? Or did he catch the end of a story about MVMCP?

I might mention that it's been cold (for Florida) this week...lows in the 30s and 40s- highs in the 50s and 60s. If you're planning to arrive for the weekend, keep that in mind, although the prediction is for warmer temperatures by Saturday.

Cold Weather Brings Snow To Central Florida

POSTED: 5:12 am EST November 22, 2006
UPDATED: 7:39 am EST November 22, 2006

The cold weather across Central Florida brought snow flurries to portions of Marion, Seminole and Volusia counties on Tuesday.

The mix of rain and snow was reported between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., WESH 2 News reported.

While Wednesday's forecast doesn't include any more flurries, there is a chance of rain north of Orlando that will move off to the northeast during the day, WESH 2 Weather Plus meteorologist Tony Mainolfi said.

The last time snow was reported in Central Florida was in January 2003, when flurries were reported in Brevard and Volusia counties. Snow and sleet was also reported across Central Florida in 1989 on Christmas Day during a hard freeze.

Yeah, we only had rain in Tally but the news was saying Orlando did have snow... granted it was snow/sleet and melted before it got to the ground :)

Noooooooo way. I didn't think it was possible to snow in Florida. Shows how much I know. :p
You should have been here in Jacksonville at Christmas 1989. We had an evening of freezing rain followed by a few inches of snow . Every bridge in Jacksonville had to be closed, which effectively shut down the entire city, and there were over 1500 traffic accidents in one day.

Hands down best Christmas ever!

I grew up about an hour north of Jax. I remember that Christmas.

So do I! The Daughter went "sledding" in the park across the street. (on a cookie sheet) My parents couldn't get out until noontime (when the ice melted) on Christmas Day, and then they spent the night here, because they lived across the river.

Interestingly, I was at a party in Palatka that day (the day before Christmas Eve), and kept telling everyone that I smelled snow. They all thought I was crazy. ;)

We went sledding too but it was on trash can lids behind our cars. The iced up Regency square mall parking lot was quite a bit of fun as well. We were getting out cars up to about 30 mph then we would cut the wheel, lock the emergency brake and the hang on.

What has the weather been like in the last week or so? I'm going down on Thursday and it shows scattered showers and isolated T-storms most of the days I will be there which really depresses me because when I was there last May it rained 5 full days out of the 8 I was there. I don't care what the temp is as long as it's dry!

According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of rain until Sunday. On Monday, the weather starts getting better. But well, 30% is still a small probability...:)

So crazy. I didn't know it could snow in Florida. I'm personally not looking foward to the snow by me, I need to move to Florida for the warm weather.
