Re-Imagineered Crush's Coaster for DPS?

Isn't that the same as Triceritops spin and Mullholland Madness? Just remember to not eat before that one! They should just bring back the lot tour as a good attraction. It used to be a really fun thing to do. In all fairness though, it really is Catastophe Canyon back there now!

I think you meant Primeval Whirl. Triceratop Spin is the Dumbo knockoff. But, I fear them putting in yet another mouse coaster when up until recently, the theming and lands they've been in have been less than stellar (Paradise Pier is nothing more than a beachside carnival, and Chester n' Hester's is, well, a roadside carnival). If they did a full-blown attraction along the lines of the Crush Coaster in Paris that might be worthwhile, but if it's going to end up being a bare bones roller coaster with minimal theming, why bother?

and nibblesandbits has been around long enough that she knows enough about Corrus to know that his reasons are more often than not, very valid. His reputation around here proves it.

I'm not sure that's quite it...well first off, I have to say I don't think there are actually a great number of Pixar "haters". The majority of people will tell you that Pixar is a terrific studio. But are some of those people a little cautious about the latest crop of Pixar-themed attractions? Definitely. It's not because they hate change or Pixar, it's because there's a concern out there that Pixar films have just become the go-to overlay for a lot of recent attractions...to the point, many believe, that it almost seems like Disney is just cashing in on the hippest new movies.

Do I think that's justified? Not exactly, because the parks have always done that, and certainly Pixar rides aren't the only ones going up these days. But when you suddenly have a number of high-profile Pixar additions popping up at the same time across the parks, it does give the impression that Disney isn't digging into their idea well as deep as they could be. Pixar makes excellent films, and there are some fantastic Pixar attractions...but when Disney does something like a Nemo overlay for the Living Seas simply because Nemo is a cute fish that everyone loves, it makes you wonder how appropriate or necessary every application of the Pixar name is.

(For the record I really enjoyed myself at The Seas--moreso than I did when Seabase Alpha was at its deadest two years previous--but it wasn't much more than a fun time. The dark ride was cute and well-made, but out of place. It was clear that the kids really enjoyed seeing Nemo, as did I...but that Nemo appeal is all the more reason I think the attraction could have been pushed further than it went. Disney's got a great property in Nemo and has the potential to use the characters to really inspire kids, but the pavilion overall did little to inspire me like Seabase Alpha used to. There was just kid-friendly information about fish--nothing I couldn't find at a local aquarium.)

yea you are right about the fact that things are being rushed. but nemo has been showing his face at the seas since the movie came out. we all knew it was just a matter of time. i dont have a problem with pixar rides if done right. but yes they do seem to be rushing them allong just to getr them out there.

i have a question. i thought the living seas had a ride when it first opened. mabey im just crazy but i could have sworn it did.

You gor it all mixed up... Pixar has Disney by the balls... Burbankwise...
Too much Pixar in the management...

Which is a very disturbing and bad thing... :(

But The Crush Coaster works because the effect is of spinning through water.... what`s a Cars version going to do? Spin through desert dust?

A case of a ride system looking for a theme..... remember when it was the other way round? If park capacity is the real issuse here, there is a list as long as your arm of rather unique attractions that never got built for the studios just dying to get off the blueprints. None was a cloned off the shelf system.

BTW; is DPS confirmed anywhere yet? I was under the impression we were to have a mini land around the former Mickey Av of that name.

I suppose they could theme it to the scene where Lightnin' and Doc race through the flats and Lightnin' spins out into the cacti.

But then it would really need to be a dueling coaster. :lookaroun

a dueling spinning coaster would be insane. That's what they should've done with Primeval Whirl instead of going cheap...

Disney said in the Orlando Sentinel that the park would not be renamed Disney Pixar Studios. It said, like you mentioned, that an area was being created.

Sierra Sidewinder is an awesome family ride, and I'd love to see Disney find a way to incorporate that ride system into the park. It fits perfectly into what they want to do, have something that gets everybody excited and that everybody can ride. I'm not entirely sure how they'd theme it to Cars though.

Harsh!
Corrus has a point. It isn't the fashionable thing to think, true...but if stories I hear of the Pixar folks trying to shoe-horn Pixar into every area of the company are true...that's a problem for me.
Creatively...good folks.
Business-wise, I hope they begin to blend in more than take over.

Having said that, putting a Pixar area into a park, or even renaming the Studios does make sense. I'd like to see Crush's Coaster show up there. But, at the same time, turning Mama Melrose's into Ratatouille's...not so much.

From what I've just heard, this new version of Crush's Coaster could be themed to Ratatouille (ala the kitchen scene where Remy has to run for his life) instead of Monster's Inc. (ala the flying door scene).

I wasn't under the impression that Ratatouille was doing all that hot in theatres, though (which sucks...I LOVED it)...

Screamscape reports today an idea to introduce a rethemed Crush's Coaster (Cars themed) at the DPS around 2009, and I have to say it makes a whole lot of sense to me--it's something they could add quickly (and quick additions to counter Harry Potter are key), and I think it would be a fun attraction for the Studios. The only problem I foresee is capacity, since DPS sees almost 4x the attendance of WDSP. Knotts has a new spinning coaster with spinning car trains, however, which could alleviate that problem:

Equals DPS???
hmmm. i'mthinking the theme will be the beggining of cars where lighting mcqueen causes all that chaos in radiator springs
Please, just no more Pixar rides
i hope this is the final one

That has been proposed as a replacement for Mullholland Madness at DCA, but I am unaware that theme is also being looked at for the Studios. The ride, yes, but last I heard the more likely theme at Studios was Monsters.

Never know, though. Why spend the money to develop two theming packages when you can just do the same one twice?

No, you're probably right (I don't have any "real" inside connections into the company where as you do). When I heard about Ratatouille being the theme for DCA, I just assumed that would be the theme for MGM's as well. Knowing Disney, it probably is still a possibility because it would save funds as you said.

It will finish with $200 million. In an extremely crowded summer for families and with computer animation not being the hot new thing anymore, I think this is quite impressive for an animated film for adults.

i am all 100% for crushes coaster to be put in DPS.

also rekindling an old flame but can anyone remember a while back the thing about a centilevered coaster or whatever it was called, and it being possibly used for a incredibles attraction,i think that could work too.

il try and find a pick of the centilevered wotsit if i cant.
