Where's the other thread that got resurrected?Whoa. The rumored but rarely witnessed double resurrection.
Thread-ception.
This seems like a worthwhile update to this thread.

Ah ok, yeah, didn't think it needed a whole new thread. It was started in 2014, resurrected in 2016, and now in 2017.
I just found that funny.
I would have just started a new thread. But also couldn't care less if it was continued on this one.
I thought I read somewhere that the freestyle machines cost about $10K per machine. Maybe they get a deal for buying in bulk. Does it make sense that they spent a bunch of money for the chip reader soda fountains only to switch to this a few years later? Interesting development. The Coca-Cola 'freestyle' machines are great.
It would be terrific to see these rolled out to the Resorts if it could be do-able.
Not sure how this type of setup would work at ...say...the Value Resorts beverage islands....but IF it would be done, i think Guests would love it!

Agreed. We have one at my office and it's frequently down or missing some of the flavors and that's an office building with several hundred corporate employees vs a hotel with several thousand "savage" guests Having multiple machines might alleviate some of the issues, but they would need to be regularly serviced, probably at least hourly.I'm fairly sure freestyle machines take a high Degree of maintenance. I've seen them opened before and the flavor adds (cherry, peach, etc) look almost like ink jet printer cartridges and in talking with the guy, run out pretty quick when in constant use scenarios. I think the syrups are fine but the flavors aren't.
Unless there's more than one model freestyle machine, it seems like in Disney they would need near constant attention to keep up.

It makes more sense if they have a mix of both. It seems like a waste of money to just scrap all the regular fountains that they upgraded a few years ago that have the chip readers. Maybe as those machines are retired they will be slowly replaced with freestyle machines.Universal's Cabana Bay has both fountain and Freestyle and it works great...It's pretty much the same as the Fountain machine...
We have a freestyle with a built in ice maker. Could be a way to cut down on labor costs but I'm not sure it could keep up with demand at crowded times.Should be interesting to see if Disney is willing to maintain the freestyle machines based on how regularly the regular fountain machines are out of ice and syrup

Okay I'm not the only one who thinks this. Every drink I get from one tastes off.Yuck, can't stand Freestyle machines. Nice idea in theory but in practice everything comes out tasting vaguely of orange soda.
I think the freestyle machines have chip readers just like the ones at universal. So rapid fill is really not going away.
This was discussed in depth in another thread.
I have met Hortense... she's a tough cookie. "No soda for you" is her favorite expression. Just as a side comment... there has never been a straight, crooked or any variation of Coke that didn't tastes like crap, but, that could be a thread of it's own.Fascinating. I've always felt the simplest solution was to have a code embedded in your magic band which would give you access through the electrified fence of the soda acquisition area and, thus, access to your personal soda dispenser (a cast member named Hortense) who would have access to ASoCoVF (A bleepload of Cans of Various Flavors). Lord knows, occasionally telling a person that didn't have an official Disney drink mug not to use the soda dispensers is sheer and utter lunacy. I would guess that most of the company's profits are tied to the overwhelming success of this program.
Also, straight Coke from freestyle machines (I never want any flavorings) tastes like crap. That is all.
