Here is my order...
10. A Bug's Life: Solid follow up to Toy Story, but not one that sticks with you like pretty much the rest of the Pixar films.
9. Wall-E: I know I'm going to get some thrashing for this, but I wasn't the biggest fan of Wall-E. At parts it was a beautiful film with a great, yet simple love story, but once it started bashing you over the head with the environmental angle, it turned me off. Very good film, but that aspect drops it to 9 on my countdown.
8. Finding Nemo: Another case of a movie being way too overhyped. I enjoyed Finding Nemo, but didn't think it was anywhere near as good as most fans claim it is. Some say it is the best animated film of all time. Not even close. It's a good, yet sappy story that is enjoyable, but not as amazing as the rest of the Pixar films in my book.
7. Cars: My inner child was very happy considering I was obsessed with cars as a kid. The film Cars was another solid movie by Pixar with many funny moments and a great cast. It's a good, fun family friendly movie that little boys are sure to love, if they don't already.
6. Ratatouille: This film caught me off guard. I thought the plot was kinda stupid at first. A rat who helps a struggling chef learn how to cook? Sounds dumb to me...but boy was I wrong. Brad Bird delivered on his second Pixar film and turned a silly concept into a solid and highly enjoyable film.
5. Monsters Inc: This was just a great idea for a film. A movie about the monsters who come out of your closet and how they live in their world? Genius. It also helps that you have a superb voice cast, two very cool and funny lead characters and a cute little girl included. Monsters Inc is the complete package for a great family film.
4. Up: Pixars latest released film is by far the most emotional and powerful. It's another silly sounding concept about and old man traveling in the sky in his house using tons of helium balloons, but it goes deeply into Carl Fredrickson's background and gives the audience a strong emotional tie with him. Up is also the only Pixar film to be nominated for Best Picture and the second animated film ever to be nominated for the award. It deserved the nomination hands down and is my personal favorite film of 2009.
3. Toy Story: The film that started it all still has a very warm place in my heart. I saw it twice in theaters when it came out in December of 1995 and loved every minute of it. This is a film that is revolutionary as well as one of the best animated films of our generation. It does hold up well, but it's not quite the best Pixar has done.
2. The Incredibles: Brad Bird, the director of The Iron Giant, joined Pixar to help create a superhero story about a family of superheroes going out to stop evil in it's tracks. It's an outstanding story filled with lots of action, real life family antics and is an absolute blast to watch. Now we just need a sequel...
1. Toy Story 2: Yes, I said it. The only sequel that Pixar has released thus far (the next two Pixar films, Toy Story 3 and Cars 2 are sequels) is also the best one. Toy Story 2 did what almost no film can, it was a sequel that surpassed the original in every way. The film is funnier, is more emotional, is more powerful and is more fun than the 1995 revolutionary original. Toy Story 2 has also stood the test of time and is still an amazing film even today when Pixar has been constantly improving the visual look of their films. Toy Story 2 is my pick for the best Pixar film.
Now the question becomes where will Toy Story 3 rank on this list...
