Rank the Parks

ask!

We are staying at Disney for 6 days...checking in around 2 pm the first day and leaving early on the 6th day....so basically we have 5 days to see 4 parks...this is our first time in 11 years. So, how would you rank the parks (1-2-3-4)?

Also, if you don't mind, how much time, in hours, do you think would be the time needed for touring the "must-sees" and the "highlights" .....we're interested in the E-ticket rides, plan to use the AM EMH, and have no little kids.

Thanks,
Andrea

The answer to your question depends on a lot of things, primarily, when are you going? If the answer is July-August, you'll be hard pressed to do it all given the crowds and the wear and tear of Florida's heat and humidity.

As for ranking the parks, each one has something great to offer. Some of Disney World's best rides are at MGM, but the park feels like it's gasping for air. Magic Kingdom is the crowd favorite in more ways than one--all the rides you remember are there, and it is often the most crowded on any given day, but there isn't really anything new and noteworthy there aside from Buzz Lightyear and a revamped Pirates. Epcot is huge but to me feels like it offers quantity over quality. Animal Kingdom is just the opposite, being small and offering great attractions but not enough of them to make a full day.

So, without knowing your personal preferences, it's a four way tie.

I would say

MK - (plan to spend 2 days here. It has the most attrations and is the most crowded. of course if you don't have little kids and you aren't into the fantasy land rides that would save a lot of time.)

EPCOT - I would spend one full day if not 2 days here. There is a lot of ground to cover. IMHO it is probably the best place for 2 adults to enjoy each others company. The crowds are the most spread out here.

AK - I would plan on a whole day here in peak season. There isn't that much to do, but last time I was there I found that things are so far a part and the walk ways are so narrow that it takes longer to get from one place to another. Not the place I would chose to just hand out and relax.

MGM - I would call this a half day park. We usually go to MGM for lunch and then ride rides until it is time to see Fantasmic.

1. The Magic Kingdom: get there as soon as possible about 15 20 minutes before the park opens there is a welcome show using the trains, characters, and more. Fantasyland hit first, if you want Dumbo this is your chance to get it.

2. EPCOT

3. Disney-MGM Studios

4. Disney's Animal Kingdom

I will rank them based on the amount of time we spend at each park on our vacations. We do have small kids, but this is the same ranking I would have given even before I have kids:
1. MK
2. Epcot
3. MGM
4. AK

1. MK
2. AK, then go to EPCOT for supper
3. MGM half day and go somewhere else that night like EPCOT
4. EPCOT
We love EPCOT and usually go there more than any place else. Its all in what you like and want to see, though.

I don't know that I can totally rank the parks as I think they all offer something unique that the others don't compare to in some way. But time-wise here we go:

Magic Kingdom - A lot to do, a lot to see, most crowded and the home of the Magic. With the time you have I'd allocate at least a day and a half, if not 2.

Epcot - 1 day to a day and a half. If you are not like most people, World Showcase can take a long time to get through, and it is definitely worth the tiem. And Future has some definte not to be missed.

Disney-MGM Studios - 1 day. People are gonig to say it's a hlaf day park, but the stuff that is there to do can have so many cool intricacies to check out, that you'll find you can waste time looking around and not really care.

Animal Kingdom - 5 yo 6 hours. Hit the attractions, take in some of the best shows on property, stroll through the trails, and try to take home a piece of the message of this park.

I hope that helps!

MK- every day of our stay at least for 2 hours
MGM- twice out of our stay
epcot- 3?? maybe??
AK- once.... thats enough thanks... i dont really like it there. sorta like the bronx zoo(only 1:1/2 away from me) but its further away and its bigger and cares for the animals more.

No matter what, we always do each park more than once. Whether we stay a full day at a park, or leaving a park one day and going back to relax, and finish that same park or diff park during the evening.

my rankings would be:
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Animal Kingdom
Disney Studios
DownTown Disney we always do at least 2 evenings on our trip. I love going there at night...its so cozy!

1. Magic Kingdom, we usualy spend at least 2 whole days here, but keeps in mind that my family has little kids.
2. Epcot, we usual will spend a whole day on future world, and a whole day on the World Showcase, so two days total while watching Illuminations every night.
3. Animal Kingdom, we used to spend a half day here, but now we will spend an entire day (with a lengthened break) if not a day and a half day.
4. MGM, we can usually finish this park in 3/4 of a day.

All listed by favorites.

1. Magic Kingdom - 1.5 or 2 days...

2. Epcot - Usually a full day (.5 on 2 days)

3. Animal Kingdom - Never been a full day park for my family. If your family is big on traveling the trails and those kinds of things it could be a most of the day park.

4. I would try to sneak in a few hours or .5 day at a water park. I have only been to Blizzard Beach. I enjoy it a lot.

5. MGM - Only a .5 day park.
