Rank the Parks

ask!

Active Member
We are staying at Disney for 6 days...checking in around 2 pm the first day and leaving early on the 6th day....so basically we have 5 days to see 4 parks...this is our first time in 11 years. So, how would you rank the parks (1-2-3-4)?

Also, if you don't mind, how much time, in hours, do you think would be the time needed for touring the "must-sees" and the "highlights" .....we're interested in the E-ticket rides, plan to use the AM EMH, and have no little kids.

Thanks,
Andrea

I like them all so much, but here's a different take on it:
1) Epcot doesn't have anything that I don't like. I like all of it. I never get enough time in Epcot.
2) Magic Kingdom has very few things that I don't like. I can pass on Mickey's Toon Town (or whatever that section is) and definitely on the roadway thing and the Astro Orbiter, but otherwise I like just about all of it. I never get enough time here, either.
3) I like about half of Animal Kingdom, but I REALLY like the half I like. I haven't lost anything at Rafiki's Planet Watch, Camp Minnie Mickey, or Dinoland. I am fully happy to stay all day here, with maybe another quick visit to repeat a few things.
4) I love some things in MGM (ToT, RnRRC, Beauty and the Beast, Fantasmic), but I actually do not like most of it. Half a day and I'm ready for a nap. Unfortunately this is one of my famliy's favorite parks, so I hang in there with them (as they do with me in my favorites!)

I usually go for about 6 days, too. My usual pattern is as follows:
1. Two full days at the Magic Kingdom (even during slow periods this may not be enough time to really see it all).
2. Two full days at Epcot (ditto).
3. A full day at Disney-MGM (this can potentially take much more than one full day if you've never been there. Anyone who says this is only a half-day Park obviously does not go to more than one show. Each one can eat up an hour).
4. A full day at Animal Kingdom (Defintely not a half-day Park anymore, especially if you want to see all the shows...and you should). Since Animal Kingdom closes at 5, this will give you time to return to either Epcot, the MK, or Disney-MGM.
Ultimately, even at full force by myself, I still have to sacrifice attractions here and there. I like to try to hit just about everything, even if I haven't cared for it in the past (with the exception of LMA, Narnia, and Dumbo. Once was more than enough for the first two, and the other I've done enough at Disneyland!).

1. MK (we love this park but since you are limited in time i would set aside atleast 2 days for it, even if you don't have little kids)

2. EPCOT (all you really need is one day to do everything. make sure you get a fast pass for Soarin' as soon as you get there, run if you have to.)

3. AK (there are several things here that we always skip, so I would say not exactly a half day, but definitely not completely full)

4. MGM (this park needs some major refurb. it is struggling in our book and we really only stay on one side, for this one also a half a day)

Since you haven't been in a while I would suggest getting a park hopper this way you could jump around with any extra time that you have. And if there are any rides that you want to do again you could hop to the park to do it. It will really help you since you are limited in days.

Again IMO!!!!

1. Epcot
2. Magic Kingdom
3. Animal Kingdom
4. MGM

The only exception is one weekend in Feb. and for a month around May/June where MGM leapfrogs AK (ESPN Weekend and Star Wars Weekends).

1 --> MK, it just is Disney for me
2 --> Epcot, so much to do and the WS is so much fun to get lost in.
the other two are a dead heat for me. When I was a CM, I thought AK was the best....fun to spend a whole days just wondering around, taking it all in. But when I'm on vacation and time is limited, then I don't spend as much time there.
But still, AK is so much more themed....so yeah,

3 --> AK
4 --> MGM....it needs some TLC.

Cheers,
Josh

Neat question. It's so hard to rank them since they are all so magical in their own ways. In FL, my ranking would be 1) Epcot, 2) Magic Kingdom, 3) Animal Kingdom, and 4) MGM.

If we include all the Disney parks in the world that I've been to, I would rank them :

1) Epcot (nothing like World Showcase or Illuminations anywhere else!)
2) Disneyland (seeing where the magic first began & walking in Walt's footsteps is always so special; the level of magic in this park is off the charts)
3) Tokyo DisneySea (imagineering at its finest; stunningly beautiful; why can't we have a park like this in America?)
4) Magic Kingdom (so many special childhood memories; amazing Philharmagic show; great E-ticket parties like Night of Joy, MNSSHP, MVMCP, & Pirates/Princess)
5) Animal Kingdom (truly unique; love the escape to Africa & Asia, the safari, and the Lion King show)
6) Tokyo Disneyland (the love for all things Disney by the Japanese is so special to see; neat covered Main Street & unique parades, live shows, train ride; amazing cast members)
7) California Adventure (beautiful park, great CA wine & cuisine, amazing Aladdin musical)
8) MGM (love "One Man's Dream", Hollywood Brown Derby, & the Osborne lights)

I'm going to Disneyland Paris next year, and can't wait to see those two parks next. I'm going to wait for Hong Kong to grow a little more before hopefully visiting & returning to Tokyo.

After just getting back from my first week ever at Disneyland, I can now have a complete list.

1. Disneyland and Epcot - Yeah I know, but I can't put one over the other. Both are so incredibly different, but they are equally my favorite park.

3. Disney MGM Studios - This one goes for atmosphere as much as anything, but the attractions are some of my favorites as well. You can't beat the edge of Sunset (RNRC, Tower and Fantasmic)

4. Animal Kingdom - This park grows on me more and more each visit. Yeah Everest doesn't hurt, but finally being able to experience this park at night puts this one at 4.

5. Magic Kingdom - Wow. This park sure isn't Disneyland. There are good things here don't get me wrong and I still love the park, but if it weren't for a few special attractions this would be dead last, especially when compared to DL.

6. California Adventure - I loved this park. It's not as good as the others, but I think this park gets an unfair reputation. The themeing is better than I expected and the rides are great. Yeah they could do away with about half of Paradise Pier, but I think this park has a great future.

This is actually a tough question. When we first arrive we unfortunately have used half a day on the trip and getting checked in. What we usually do is hit the EMH park for that night. But like a lot of people we spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom. And we also love Animal Kingdom. I just enjoy looking at everything. We like MGM as well. The only thing I don't do there is RnRC, but my DD and DH love it so I just people watch when they ride. And out of the 4 parks Epcot is my least favorite. I like the park just not as much. And we always hop around and then our last day we go to the park that we want to re-do most of the stuff. With or without a child we would still hit the "kiddie" rides. LOVE THEM!! Whatever you choose have great fun and enjoy yourselves!

Since we're rating other parks (outside of Florida), I have an updated list:

1. Disneyland- Nothing can compare to the magic and quality this park has.
2. Epcot- Great park, great atmosphere, great food.
3. AK- The themeing here is amazing, and the safari is unlike anything I've ever experienced.
4. DCA- Unlike most people, I enjoy this park. It still has a way to go, but is still fun.
5. BB
6. TL
7. MGM- It has the one thing that I don't in CA, which is RcRn.
8. MK- Doesn't compare to DL, but I gotta give it credit for how big it is, including the castle.

Haven't been to the ones outside of the US, but that's on my list of things to do.

It's hard to rank them or to say how much time it takes to see them. But I can tell you roughly how we (2 adults, 2 young kids) split our time among the 6 parks (incl. water parks) in a week long visit to WDW.

MK 40%
Epcot 15% (but mostly at restaurants and Illuminations)
AK 15%
MGM 10%
BB 10%
TL 10%

I agree, it is hard to rank them, but I have 4 kids and the Magic Kingdom is their favorite. As for myself, I like MGM because of the TOT and the Rockin RC.

1. Magic Kingdom
2. MGM
3. AK
4. Epcot
5. BB
6. TL

Don't Rank, Just Go

Take 1 full day plus a 1/2 day at MK, 1 full day plus a 1/2 day at Epcot, 1 full day at MGM and 1 full day at AK. If you get done early at one, go to another. Take full advantage of the evening extra magic hours. If I knew when you were going, the touring plan may help us see how busy the days are going to be. Let me know what your dates are and I will try and help. You can do it all in 5 days, you just may not get to enjoy any of the water parks.
