I hear that T-Rex has better food than Rainforest Cafe, but it is also more congested...help me decide which one to try!

Don't really understand why either restaurant is gender bias  but I would say T-Rex. Better menu and cooler effects.

Also I would say that T-Rex is a little more crowded and loud.

Enjoy the atmosphere.

Well both are owned by the same people,so it's all about fun, animals or dinosaurs, the foods ok,not haute cuisine,we have dined at both and enjoyed the two of them.have fun and enjoy the atmosphere.

If you don't have young children, I'd avoid them both. The food isn't very good, and the atmosphere is really corny. Adults aren't likely to be impressed.

We are a group of 3 adults and we all enjoy both restaurants. Granted they are both noisy and busy, but are also friendly and fun. The servers are incredibly helpful and catered really well to my daughter's faddy tastes at both places and the food, whilst it isn't haute cuisine, is plentiful and good, in our experience at least. They are very similar, it depends really on whether you prefer animals or dinosaurs as a theme but I would suggest you have a look at the menus to see which you prefer.

Cannot comment on Rainforest as I never been... but T-rex was pretty good. Maybe it was b/c we were expecting something bad that I ended up liking the place. We went for the kids sake (they had been asking to go) but it ended up being a family favorite. If you can go to DTD during the week and eat at an off time the place is not that packed. We had an early dinner (around 4:30 I think) during a weekday and we practically had our side of the restaurant to ourselves. It's loud during the meteor shower but other than that I didn't find it loud or bothersome. I ordered the salmon and it was really good.

I honestly can't believe I'm saying this but after going to T-Rex again in October I would honestly have to suggest Rainforest because it feels more immersive.

They are similar restaurants owned and operated by the same company so I'd go with whichever has the quicker seating time, which has typically been Rain Forest, probably because T Rex is newer.

Ron's post #2 above is the best advice I've seen in this thread.

My family likes T-Rex better. Part of the reason could be that we've gone to Rainforest so many times both at Disney and in our home state, but I personally like the food at T-Rex better.

Not true. We travel as a group of 3 over 18 year olds and we always enjoy ourselves there. Just because YOU don't enjoy it doesn't mean everyone shares your opinion.

That being said, both can be loud and the food isn't 5 star dining. But I get the Planet Earth Pasta at Rainforest and it is really good. They have some really good drinks there as well (If you don't mind spending upwards of $7+ for a Mai Tai or similar..)

I think kids will enjoy either one :)

No
our kids like both (boy 8, girl 6), but when we ask before each trip to pick where the want to go, T-rex is always picked first!!!

I've eaten at both.

Love T-Rex. Is it loud? Yes. Does it have kids? Yes. Is the food good? Yes. Is the atmosphere great? Yes!
We've always had great service, great food and a fun time. I would definitely recommend it. I don't even like dinosaurs a whole lot, but it's still a lot of fun. Each dining room is so different that we've gone three times and have had a different experience every time. We also like it because we have about 3 Rainforest Cafe's in our area, but T-Rex is only in WDW.

On the other hand, Rainforest Cafe is widely commercial and maintains high standards. All the same questions apply as T-Rex, and all the answers are the same. The theme is different, and so is the menu.
Will you have a great meal? Yes. Is it a meal that you could have pretty much anywhere else in the continental US? Yes.

So just for that fact (unless you have a T-Rex in your area) I would say T-Rex, just because it's different.

I avoid Rainforest like the plague. The food is poor and the theme never really did anything for me. The kids liked it, but I tried to talk them out of it.

We tried T-Rex and I was perpared for the same. I was suprised, the food was not bad. Nothing more than say a TGI Fridays or a Chili's, but still not bad. Yeah, it is a bit loud, but thats their selling point.

I'd go strictly on the menus. Look at them both and then decide which food you'd like to eat. Both places are extremely well decorated, crowded and have special effects that take place every 20-25 minutes. So I'd make my decision on food alone.

We are visiting Rainforest on our next trip (we've been to both) just to try the Flying Dragon pizza. But if we were going based only on dessert - the TREX Extinction dessert is better than the Volcano at Rainforest Cafe (In my and my fiance's opinions)

Have fun!

I would have to say T-Rex, I think the food is good and enjoy the atmosphere a little better than Rainforest (of course I am a boy though). As for the noise, it does seem a little louder, but still enjoy it since we do not have a chance to eat there other than when we visit wdw.
