Rafiki in Fantasmic... Coming VERY soon.

I don't know if this was posted anywhere (did a search, didn't see it), but I received very reliable information that tests were run just a few nights ago using Rafiki instead of the large bird on the monkey barges...

not that big of news, but news... (king louie was great in disneyland in this role!)

We had actually done this for the first time about a month or two back, the same night we did a test run of a show just for EMH evening guests. We tested it to see how he would look under the black lights. Not as well as the bird, but we'll see. I think it should be a go, since it'll make more sense having at least one live character from the Lion King in that sequence rather than the ones you see on the mist screens.

Rafiki rocks. Maybe they could do his costume with some kind of phosphorescent paint and then hit it with black light on the float to make it stand out.

from what i was told... they did, and it didn't really look right, so they took him back to the drawing board... but i don't know that to be 100%.

I saw Rafiki in this part of the show (middle barge instead of big bird) on September 11 (Sunday). If I didn't know what was there before, I would have thought this happened every night. He fit in.

OK, not to be terribly obtuse, but what monkey barge and what bird? When we went last month all I remember seeing were the princess barges, the big character boat, and some canoes from Pocahontas. Did I miss something?
