Rach&Eric's Disney Adventure PRT/TR

Hello all, I’ve been puttering around reading everyone else’s PTR’s and TR’s and enjoyed each and every one of them. Certainly made the time waiting for my own trip somewhat bearable. So I decided to try my hand at my very own PTR/TR.

A little info here, the last time I was in WDW was in October 2007. Long story short, was not an enjoyable time for me as three weeks before I found out my now ex-husband was being....ummmm, husbandly with someone else. But he loved me and wanted to work things out and blah, blah, blah and against my better judgment went on the trip anyway. But my Happy Place wasn’t so happy for me. We naturally separated/divorced not long after that.

Fast forward a little over a year later to December 2008 and I met Eric…actually, we worked for the same company, but never really talked before. Quite honestly, he scared the crap out of me. He was the "computer guy". The call center was upstairs and his office was downstairs. If he ever came upstairs he always looked like he was about ready to rip someone's head off. So, of course, I made sure I never had any problems with my computer :drevil:

But don't judge a book by it's cover. We met and talked and started dating. Finally I decided it was time I went back to WDW. Even better was when I found out Eric has never been….WDW with a first timer!!!! The trip was already in the works and the resort already booked when in December 2010 Eric proposed. Neither of us want a big wedding, just something very small and intimate so we decided to incorporate Disney as our honeymoon. The wedding is on April 9th…yup a little less than two months away and we are headed to the World in May.

Alright so, being that it’s our honeymoon, there are only two of us going:

When: May 7th – 14th, 2011

Where: POFQ! Although I’ve been to WDW a handful of times, this one will be a first for me since I’ve never stayed on-site before.

Who: Me (Rachelle - 32) - Disney lover since I went the first time in 8th grade way back in March, 1992. I’m the planner for the trip and loving every minute of it. We were initially suppose to go in October 2010, but the call center where I worked closed and I had to find another job and of course no vacation right away.

Eric (33): First timer so I’m anxious to show him everything I can. I’ve been trying to prepare him, showing him maps and explaining to him how big WDW actually is. He’s excited but I won’t overwhelm him. The master plan is for him to fall in love with the place and he'll want to go back…simple right?

We are from New Brunswick, Canada, driving to Bangor, Maine the night before and taking the plane from there. We are booked from Bangor, leaving at the ungodly hour of 5:53 am (weird time I know) and arriving at Orlando International at 12:58 pm (give or take of course). Grab luggage and head to DME. Whether the room is ready or not we drop off the luggage and head to DTD. Although I would love to just go to a park right away, I figured a bit of a relaxing evening before I begin torturing Eric’s feet would be better for my master plan.

As for dinning, I made 7 ADR’s in all. We are not on a dining plan. I’m not really a fussy eater, there are a few things I don’t like but for the most part I’ll try things at least once and if I don’t like it I won’t eat it again. Eric on the other hand is a fussy eater. So I checked out the menus first and made my choices. I wanted him to go to places where he would at least have more than one choice on the menu. So ADR’s are as follows

May 7th – Dinner at Rainforest Café (DTD)
May 8th - Lunch at Le Cellier
May 9th - Breakfast at Kona Café
May 10th – This MAY be our Universal day so we’re venturing out. Not sure where we’ll eat although I do like Bubba Gump at City Walk
May 11th – Dinner at Ohana’s
May 12th – Dinner at 50’s PTC
May 23th – Breakfast at Grand Floridian Café and dinner at Planet Hollywood

For the most part we’ll be having breakfast at POFQ and lunches either at the resort or at whatever park we’re at that day. I do plan on coming back to the resort a few times to relax a bit.

As a tentative schedule, I have us at Epcot Sunday, MK Monday, Tuesday Universal, Wednesday AK and Thursday DHS. For Friday it’s a “whatever we want to do” day. We will have a Park Hopper and that schedule could very well change as it’s not set in stone.

So that's it for now, 80 days to go and I cannot wait!!!!!!

You guys look cute together, have fun at the world.

How much are you saving driving to Bangor? The airfare this Easter is crazy, we couldn't get anything close to our usual two grand for the four of us.

We're saving $500-$600 and it's only a 3 hour drive...really not bad. Considering we're landing back in Bangor in the morning of the 14th, we'll be back home before supper. The amount it costs to fly from Fredericton (where we're from) or Moncton is just ridiculous.

What a great back story on you two. My mom (who got remarried later in life) always said that love is better the second time around :)

Sounds like you have a great game plan! I am taking my boyfriend in August. It'll be his 3rd time, once before with his family and another with his ex. I hope to make it so special and different than the other times before. I plan on doing the same thing you are, showing him such a good time he becomes an instant addict like me! haha

Can't wait for the TR!

Thanks! I would have to agree with your mom, love is better the second time around. I'm quite attached to the little so I'll keep him...lol

Oh thank you, I love our love story too. Time is already flying by so fast. It almost sounds as though I'm more excited for the trip than the wedding , but I'm very excited for both!

Poor guy, I've been showing him pics of the resort and telling him about all the TR's I've been reading, and making him watch the Planning DVD's. It's completely different when you're actually there but I want him to get an idea. I think he will fall in love with Disney, but I have to make sure he discovers things on his own too rather than just showing things that I love.

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding & honeymoon! Wow you got engaged in December and your wedding is in April! I hope you post some wedding pics in your TR :) I'm all about small and intimate weddings too, we are only having 18 people. I think that big weddings just get too out of hand and the costs skyrocket.

I can't wait to hear about your Disneymoon! I was nervous the first time I went to WDW with DF. You should hear him talk about WDW now though. He goes on and on about it, it's totally funny. Whenever there's a Disney travel show or documentary on, he watches it with me and we talk about our past trips together. It's magical :)

Hahahaha...yeah I know, quick wedding. I feel the need to tell people I'm not pregnant when I tell them we're getting married in April. You just know that's where their thoughts are going when they calculate how many months between December and April...lol. But since we were already going away, then why the heck not. We have about 30 people, it's a civil ceremony and dinner is at the same place with very close family and friends. Perfect for us!

May 10th – This MAY be our Universal day so we’re venturing out. Not sure where we’ll eat although I do like Bubba Gump at City Walk

May I suggest Margaritaville? When my girlfriend went back in October it was between Bubba Gump and Margaritaville and we ended up going to the latter. The nachos are incredible, they also gave such generous portions when it came to the main course that we didn't come close to finishing it all. Also, a super fun place to eat with everything that they have going on in there. Our waiter was so friendly with us that some of his other tables weren't too happy, oops.

Either way, have an awesome honeymoon!

Sounds like an awesome honeymoon! I'm sure your man will fall in love w/Disney once he sees how happy that place makes you!

Great choices for ADRs as well! I think this will definitely attribute to your man's love of Disney. My boyfriend looks forward to our trips much more knowing he will get to eat some great table service. I'm a commando type park go-er but after our 2nd trip that way he complained we didn't eat anywhere fantastic. So we booked a bunch of table service dinners and he loved them! Now he is excited to make ADRs and such and it makes him so much more excited for the upcoming trip! Never underestimate the power of food!

Ohhh, I forgot about Margaritaville, I think we would both enjoy that place, thanks for suggesting it!

I didn't want to make too many ADR's, but I think I made a good amount. I didn't want Eric to feel like he wasn't on vacation if we had to be eating at specific times for every single meals. This way we can still experience some great places, but still take things a little relaxed. The one I'm looking most forward to is Kona Cafe. I've been reading way too much about Tonga Toast I can almost taste them :slurp:

Wow, 23 days to go until the wedding and 51 until DISNEY!!! It's coming up so fast I can't believe it. I'm sooo tempted to take out my suitcase, but it's a bit too far ahead I guess....lol.

The only thing on your ADR's I might change is that now that Le Cellier prices have gone through the roof, I might change the Le Cellier lunch for the Yachtsman for supper. The prices are now comparable, availability is usually there, I frankly have better meals at Yachtsman. Love the Yacht club, so its fun to eat over there.

Congratulations, Rachelle and Eric!!! Your dress is just fabulous, Rach - you look gorgeous! And I love the flowers in your hair (maybe I'm biased though because I also wore two white flowers in my hair :D). Time to check the 10 day weather forecast, which is such an exciting milestone in the Disney vacation countdown! :sohappy: I hope you have the most magical Disneymoon ever and I look forward to reading the report.

I hope you have an amazing disneymoon and I can't wait to read all about it!!

Thank you so much! It's technically a bridesmaid dress but exactly what I was looking for. I can't wait to be there, it's been a long time coming and I'm looking forward to showing Eric everything I love about WDW.
