It's funny, but we have tons of sandwich shops in the greater Cincinnati area: Quiznos, Jersey Mikes, Blimpi, Subway, Penn Station, New England Grinders, Great Steak and Fry Co., etc.
We have all of those sandwhich shops here in the Cleveland area aswell!.:D

We've had quizno's in the St. Louis area for like 5 years or something. I really like them. The toasty bread the melted cheese. Darn it now I want a meatball sub from Quizno's.

I didn't know that about the coupons. I wonder I think I might try that tomorrow.

I too hate that new commercial. Those things are scary.

I saw the new ad for the coupon promotion tonite. Same old creepy furry things singing about the coupons. At one point, the guitar playing creepy furry thing with the pirate hat on has a scissor to cut around the word bubble.

Im going to have nightmares tonite

You can have your subs!

I'll take a New Orleans Po-Boy over them any day.

*sigh* I miss po-boys. I really miss New Orleans french bread.

No one around here sells Reising's bread.

Hey now don't get me wrong a nice shrimp poboy from Slidel or a soft shell crab poboy either one over a quizno's any day.

Pensacola isn't that far from New Orleans. My mom and I would stay in Slidel Mississippi and drive there and back in a day.

But just think you have Joe Partty's Seafood market. Do they still have the Geloto bar?

The Popeyes Chicken place has Po-Boys (a cheap knock-off no doubt), but you can pick up a pretty good one at the local Copelands. Good Stuff:slurp:

As for the commercial. It is a well known fact that bug-eyed rodents that can sing and play instruments sell subs

As long as they don't make them its OK by me.

May I be foolish enough to ask what a po-boy is...exactly?

Not an expert on the subject, I am a Cincy Boy afterall, but after various travel took me to the great Cities of New Orleans and Slidell and LaFayette, a po-boy is a sub. The idea as I see it is that you are poor and throw whatever you can into a sammy. What you have when you are done is a 'Po-Boy'.

Of course at a restaraunt, the fixins are pretty darn good.

Sorry to hear that. I, however, find them to be absolutely hilarious. I get the giggles every time i think about them.

Ok then...a sub, hero, hoagie, grinder, po-boy all the same thing (more or less). Gottcha.

I think the types of sandwiches would get me in quicker than the pepper bar...don't care for them on a sub.

The website has two different commercials to watch & a coupon to print out.
Now I just have to wait for one to open around here. Scarsdale is just too far to travel for lunch.

Po-boys are not subs, they are like them in the sense that they are sandwhiches.

What is unlike them is that they are served on crusty old world style french bread (like a baguette but bigger) and the seasonings used on most of them are standard in new orleans (for instance, roast beef is frequently seasoned cajun style cooked with garlic embedded into the roast etc.)

Also po-boys (when they aren't made of fried seafood) generally have yummy gravy in them, in a sort of souped up french dip kinda way. The gravy will either be natural au jus or can be a spiced cajun brown gravy.

RE: Pensacola proximity to N.O. yeah I go to NO on the weekends frequently, I grab french bread when there :)

Joe Pattys has the BEST seafood! It is cheaper for me when entertaining to have a boiled shrimp feast than to serve steaks because of the fantastic shrimp prices at Joe Pattys. Gelato Bar: they have expanded and have a huge gourmet section now, still has gelato but also deli meats, foreign foods a sushi bar and the closest french bread to new orleans style you can get around here :) Oh yeah and they stock plenty of Zatarains's crab and shrimp boil, elsewhere around the US the closest thing you can get outside of Louisiana is Old Bay.

Come on. Who doesn't like spicy gravy?

Quznos is very good, but I would take a Penn Station over it. More basic ingredients. Quiznos is a bit more exotic.

Whats a Penn Station?

Can I get an Italian Cold Cut hero with lettuce, tomato, mayo, salt & pepper? And a Diet Coke...please.

Now I'm hungry. :slurp:
