Trip Report Quick 2 day Disneyland Paris- September 2017

Hello everybody,

I know that this forum's sub-folder is not the correct one but the DLRP-section is quite a bit dead when it comes to TR's. Just a small heads up ( and for who might be interested), I planned a 2 day trip ( 26 Sept. - 27 Sept.) to Disneyland Paris. I will spend the night in the New York Hotel. Will try to document it as good as possible with pictures of the parcs and the hotel.

Honestly, I haven't been to the New York Hotel in ages so I'm very eager to stay there again before they execute the transformation to a "Marvel Theme". I booked it through the Disney telephone line. I got a small upgrade from a standard room to a Plaza room. It should be overlooking the Rockefeller plaza and not a parking lot or such.

Anyways, will keep you posted. It won't be as long as all the other TR's but it's always nice to see how the other parcs are doin' around the world.

Greetings,

Laurence

No pictures from BTM but the Fastpass train, located on the right of the loading area, has a better start than the one on the left hand side. The drop into the dark when going underneath the lake, is quicker and more intense than the left start. Jusst soo you know! And off course, the back of the train ( as from wagon 9-10) is a plus!
Excellent advice from a local expert - thanks!

Obviously the attractions are made for the younger section of the Guests but I enjoyed it !
Well we all know that you (and I) are just kids at heart!

Max (@amjt660 ), It is me or does the Moose looks like he ain't givin' zero f***cks?
He does have a certain look that tells me he has "tude" (as in serious attitude)

Great posting so far - the Waltz show looks great (pic only - cannot open video at work) (and yes I am on break - if I came to work with you I would not spend all my time on a Disney site - just most of it)

I hope you eventually were able to go on Pirates.

So, Ratatouille was still on my menu of the day! As the big Bosses of the WDC have announced the coming of Ratatouille at Epcot, a detailed explanation should be in order! Hereunder a description on what to expect, how the ride works and my general opinion of this ride :

WHAT? 3D-Dark Ride

HOW? The attraction captures the story of Ratatouille in short with 5-6 cut scenes where the "mouse carts" are standing still and where you need to look at the scenery in front of you and another maybe 3 sceneries where the mouse carts are moving ( basically when shifting from standstill scenes).

The loading area of the attraction has ( in DLP), two sides. One loading area in front of the queue end and one at the left side. each mouse train, consists of three mouse carts that actually have their own motorization. They all spin and turn on their own but eventually follow the same path as the other 2 in the attraction. There is no rail on the floor, nor is there water. I think ( but i'm not sure) it has something magnetic to do with it but did not have time enough to fully analyse the mechanics and it's not very clear in the loading area to figure that out.

QUEUING? There is a possibility to A) do the stand-by line; B) single rider or C) Fast Pass. The Stand-by queue is, in my opinion, very lengthily. I would suggest to take a FP or do the single rider queue. On the other hand, the Stand-by line has been amazingly decorated and you actually feel that bit of Mid summer Parisian night during the queue.

Other tips? If you might get a bit motion sickness ( like Star tours..) I suggest you sit at the back of the mouse carts. You then sit a bit further from the projections and will feel less motion sick than on the first row.

Now pictures from Ratatouille... have to look for those at its only the outside of the attraction and maybe what I could have taken during a FP run through

Entrance of the Area. Taken on Tuesday in September. The music there is unbelievably nice. I really like the Ratatouille area.

A closer photo taken during my August trip. The Shop " Chez Marianne" offers quite some pretty Disney ( Ratatouille) gifts. It also has a great collection of Candy.. hmmm

Picture of the Gusteau's taken from my trip back in 2015 when I somehow did the stand-by line with my Sister.

A mouse Cart. Wagon/Cart/ I don't know how to properly call it, was already in the dark.

EDIT : I forgot to mention, there is also a TS restaurant " Chez Rémy". Beautifully themed. You can get a glimpse of it when exiting the attraction. I heard the food is quite good!

Thanks for the detail on Ratatouille
The ride system sounds similar to Poohs hunny hunt in TDL

I am looking forward to it arriving in Florida

Loving this report.

Me and my sister went to DLP back in December 2015 & really liked it.
Our first visit was with our dance troop back in around 2008?! We were lucky enough to be chosen as the performers in the theater next to Alice's Labyrinth (not sure if it's still there). We enjoyed it that time as we were with all of our friends, but we were so used to WDW being so big, the compactness of DLP was quite a shock, but since we visited in 2015 we have a new found love for it (especially the Christmas Fireworks)!!!

We ate at Chez Remy and the food was really nice! Hoping to get back this winter but time will tell!!

Can't wait to hear the rest of your days!

Sorry for the small delay, I was at my parent's house for the weekend!

After Ratatouille, I made my way out of DHS to return again to the Disneyland Park. I has been a long time since I stayed until the end to watch the closing show "Illuminations".

I was back in the Disneyland park around 6.25 PM. As my Disney app was not working anymore, I decided to go back to Frontierland to get on BTM. Unfortunately everybody has this idea.. A whopping 80 minute wait was the result.

DSC02163.JPG

I decided to head over to the HM but they apparently already closed at 7.00 PM due to the low crowds... okay Disney, thanks for that! So, in desperation in went over to PoTC... maybe the attraction was open?
DSC02161.JPG

Again no luck... PoTC was still experiencing technical difficulties... Okay, another bummer !

I was feeling the strain of walking back and forth to two different parks and my Iphone already indicated 15,000 steps. No wonder my little toe hurt a bit! So I decided to move towards the Castle to look for a spot for the Illuminations show. by the time i found my spot, a lot of people were already sitting on mainstreet to wait for the show. I found myself a spot juist behind the area reserved for the disabled guest. it was around 7.20PM at that time.. More than one hour before the show was going to start. I was in for a very long wait and as nighttime was approaching, it became a bit chilly..

Keeping myself entertained by photographing the castle before the sun went down and during sundown...

Around 8.10 PM, the Disney speakers were announcing the Illuminations show.

After the show ended, I headed over to the exit of the Disneyland park. At this point I was mad at myself that I didn't pay for a room in the Disneyland Hotel. My right foot was givin' me SOS signals on my way out. I still had to walk 1,5 km back to the New York hotel. And I was on a clock, The show finished at 8.50 PM and I had made a reservation at the Park Side Buffet at 9.30 PM in the Hotel. And I still needed to freshen up a bit before I could go to eat. So rush rush to the hotel.
