Queue Lines Too Fast For Ya?

I know this sounds crazy...but I get upset sometimes when the Queue lines are too short and Go too fast.:hammer:

I really enjoy admiring all the things to see in the queue lines while I'm waiting to ride an attraction.

For example: I Love to walk thru the Pirates Of The Caribbean queue and look at all the displays of pirate stuff. Same with Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road, and a few others. I get frustrated when I have to practically RUN through these exhibits because I have people behind me giving me dirty looks because I'm not moving fast enough.

I know I should be appreciative that the line is short and there's little or no waiting...but I stay at WDW for a week at a time when I go, so I can take my time and enjoy all the little "Details".

Has anyone else ever experianced this, and does it bother you too or is it just ME being a whiner?

You can always hang back & tell people to pass you. Maybe someone can feel your forehead for fever? (snicker snicker)

I'm with you, Scooter. A lot of these queues have so much eye candy that you really hate to have to move along. There have been several times when I've been staring at the rex skeleton on Big Thunder Railroad from the window in the queue, and look to the right and see that there's a big space between me and the people behind me. Then they get angry, like I'm keeping from from riding the ride or something, even when there's a good 8-minutes-worth of line in front of me.

What really bugs me are the droid rooms in Star Tours, which are just CRAMMED with details like the robomice and the various contents of all the conveyor-baskets, but you only spend about 2 minutes total in that section.

And sure, you CAN let people go past you, but then they'd have to squeeze past you and the handrail, which inconveniences them and makes you nervous, so there really is no way to linger and enjoy a lot of these queues.

If I remember though, most of the chambers in Pirates are plenty big, so it shouldn't be a problem just to hang out in there... at least until security starts to think you're up to something.

ok, wait a second, the lines were put there to take people to the rides, they're not museums, and the reason people get mad is because when the line is moving, and when there is a big gap between two people, especially when someone is just looking at something the line doesnt move and it really makes me mad :fork:

ok two things on this....first...

when big gaps form in lines, as long as the there is still guest infront of the gap, it makes the line no longer or no shorter. There is still the same # of guest in front of you, the only diff is instead of moving a little here and there, you move a lot all at once. STILL the same wait time eather way.

the other is, i do see where you are coming from on this, and that is about the only problem i have with FP. You miss the little things in the queue, and you miss the antisapation for the ride.

BUT dont get me wrong, ill take a walk on anyday.

for all I care the queues could be like the ones at the fairs, just going back a forth, just as long as the ride was good, I dont care what the line looks like. The queue is like a car, it doesnt matter what it looks like just as long as gets you to where you need to be

Michael,

are you relatively new to Disney parks, having been weaned on Six Flags your entire life?

The queues to most attractions are part of the attraction (at least the E-Tickets), and purposely designed so that when the lines are packed, there is enough going on around you to keep you amused and not concerned on the wait.

just to correct you, I'm not relatively new to Disney parks, and maybe for you thats what a line is, but it isn't to me

Most Disney Queues tell the start of the story. They set up the ride or your journey. Without that its just an ordinary ride.

well, having read your profile, and your past posts, you seem to find a lot wrong with Disney parks. In fact, to quote your profile:

I LOVE THRILL RIDES!!! not those boring little things that are in the dark that you have to wait an hour for!

I love thrill rides too, but to truly have an appreciation of Disney, you must at least have a respect for the dark rides. Without them, Disney parks would be nothing. They are the bread and butter of Disney parks.

Also, as for the queues. I would rather spend my 2 hours in a line that would keep me amused, rather than checking my watch every 5 minutes cause it's hot and boring outside.

That reminds me of the OTHER evil thing about Fastpass. It makes the standby line move sporadically instead of steadily, so let's say that you're in line for Space Mountain: you might spend 8 minutes staring at the same window in the gravity tunnel and then have to walk right past the star rooms without getting a good luck. It's not a big thing, but it bothers me that you're not allowed to move at the pace that the queue was designed to be entertaining at.

Not that FastPass isn't on the whole a good thing, but it bugs me that it ruins the effects of a lot of queues that were designed before FastPass was conceived. Rock n' Rollercoaster is a good example of where it does work. I bet in the future we're going to be seeing a lot of queues designed on its model.

I think on any trip to a Disney park, when riding a major attraction, I always like to stop and look at the queue at least once for the trip--like, if the line for Tower of Terror is a half hour, I will wait in the stand-by line so that I can see everything, but, with week-long trips, I definitely appreciate Fastpass as well. Queues are an integral part of the Disney experience, but flying through the lines is also good...I would take a five minute Fastpass line over a three hour standby line any day, maybe because I go to Disney parks with some frequency. I don't understand how you could not see the queues as more than just a way to get to the ride vehicle, though...every time I go through the queue for Tower of Terror, rather it's a 5 minute or a 50 minute wait, I can't help but marvel at the detail and appreciate the mood it creates--with the amount of money Disney puts into theming its queues, you would be doing yourself a disservice not paying attention to them--some of your park admission does go toward that part of your theme park experience...what would the Tower of Terror be without its incredible theming? Nothing special. Thrills are a part of the Disney experience, but they are not THE Disney experience.

If there is little to no line and I want to look at some of the detail in the queue, I will do just that and let the people behind me go first. I know I did this at Kilamanjaro Safaris last time I was there. Had some people look at me like I was crazy, but oh well.
