Queue blockades

Good question. I suppose it would depend on the situation and the person involved.

I make no promises for free passage.

Jimmy Thick- Quote me on that.

You've got to watch out for those body building cops from Chicago while in WDW that's for sure...

Line cutting is probably my number one hot button in WDW. I have confronted many cutters; I refuse to let someone behind me 'catch up' to their group. While in the world last year, we had our only negative experience with the famous tour groups. I watched 3 kids jump the entire line in the outside queue. Once we were in the alley, I notice these kids made it all of the way up to the front of the queue. Afterwards, I went to the CMs at the front of the line to complain. Well, the main CM took us four backstage and put us in the first and second rows of the next car. After the ride was over, she also met us and proceeded to give us 4 sets of general fast passes and 2 sets specific to ST2.0 and TSMM. All of this happened before 930am.

Now, I would rather see WDW stop the line jumping based on principle, but in this instance, I felt as though they went above and beyond to fix my personal bad experience.

So to make you feel better they let you cut the line.

one of my biggest issues with it is if i get split up from my group and i am in front of them in line my first instinct is to walk back to them, not ask them to come to me

In soarin you really have to strategically place yourself, so many people just "accidentally" wander in front of you

I really did accidentally walk in front of a man and his child in March (I think I absentmindedly passed him while playing a game on my phone). He didn't say anything, but then I looked in his direction and noticed that he had been in front of me earlier. He gave me a really mean look and I let him back in front of me... The moral of the story is: normally it's intentional, but sometimes it can be accidental.

Where do you draw the line?

  • Fashion emergency : "I've just GOT to have that cute new blouse, it's the very last one in my size"
  • Cleanliness emergency : "oh crap...I crapped my pants."
  • Attraction emergency : "I've just got to ride the HM one more time while my group waits in line at PotC.

All are reasons to leave the queue, but which do you forgive?

Can't tell if trolling

Sometime last year when I went to MK and was inline for BTM and little did I know that my dad had gone inline 5mins before me I went to go get FP for SP. After awhile we saw each other and he started to let people go ahead of him like 20 people till I reached a part where I could just hop the rail. The lady behind him flipped out and he was like just go ahead of us and she just kept and stayed behind us even though we said go ahead repeatedly. I have come across tons of line cutters and I just don't care anymore. Most of the time people don't really cut they just do what Disney tells them to do "Fill all of the available space and move forward" haha either way I still have a good time. :)

It wasnt him it was his brother in law, just ONE person. So he forgot something! big friggin deal! stop being such a drama queen! people forget things we are human! He didnt leave his PJs he left his heart medication, but im sure because of his forgetfulness he deserves to suffer a heart attack right? And im sure you never forgot anything right mr perfect!?
I agree I mean one person, that will not prevent the woman and her family from not getting on the bus, thats overreacting and obnoxious for yelling.

We obviously have a difference of opinion because I think common decency would say that a medical issue is different than average line cutting.

Was it a 'medical issue' that they needed to not lose their place in line? Why not just get back in line when they returned?

No one is keeping the guy from going to get his medication... just that if you screw up, why should you be entitled to protecting your spot in line?

Just get back in line. Same as if I forgot something important and had to leave and go get it.

Hey look, someone else over 18 years old understands the whole point.

God bless the "Ignore" button.

I have been in that position at Pirates! I have no intention of cutting, but... people need to fill out all the available space!

Completely setting aside the idea of attraction queues, I think if you get in line for the bus and then honestly realize you forgot something, you can run back to the room and get in line again. It is impossible to know everyone's intentions, but this doesn't really bother me. In fact, it gives me something to do in line: it turns into a little game to see whether or not the person will make it back before the bus comes. If someone runs from the MK stop at Pop to the 90's and back, I think they've earned the right to "cut" in line.

On a side note, I like how we must all be value-stayers discussing the bus stops like this. Every mod or deluxe bus stop I've been to is a Lord of the Flies-style free-for-all every time!

I can't tell you how many people I have "skipped" because they do not listen. If a CM says five times to fill in space and you don't move, I will. If you cannot follow simple directions you need to wait longer.

A lady in line with us at one of the resort bus stops yelled at my family and I once (we were at the front of the line and had been for about fifteen minutes when she began to berate us). She was yelling at us to go to the back of the line because my brother-in-law had forgotten some important heart medication at the room we were staying at, and he left to go retrieve them. I'd understand if like, five of the six people in our party had left, but it was just him, so...

I don't like line cutters, either, but I also hate people who complain about every little thing such as the lady I mentioned above... especially while it's about waiting in line at a freaking resort. She had the audacity to call us liars, shout obscenities, threats, and shoot us the finger while we were boarding the bus, too. Needless to say the parents with young children in line with her were not very thrilled.
People can be just oh so stupid! Waiting in line for buses (esp. if 1 person has an emergency- who r we 2 judge?) is a whole different ballgame than waiting in line for rides!

If you "complain nicely" to the CMs, then they usually compensate you in some way, and sometimes do punish the "offenders".:)

I was in line for Rock'n Rollercoaster one time and these little like 15 year old high school kids who were in a big group were all cutting. These lil guys walked past me and were right in front of me and I looked at em and said "Yeah man cool go ahead and cut in line. Keep doing it." Of course it wasn't said nice. They just kinda froze and stared at me lol.
My husband would've YELLED that outloud so EVERYONE could hear!

People with small children always gets a free pass from me. Dirty diapers happen and sometimes, you just have to change them, if your in line or not. If you have kids you understand and more than likely would let the people through.

Now if it was a group of teens, or people trying to catch up to their group, no way, let the others wait for you, thats how it should work. I have no issues relaying this message to anyone trying to cut in front of me.

Jimmy Thick- For some reason they just obey.
I hate to bring this up, but I have had a problem w/ people who don't speak English ( or act like it), and "pretend" to not understand the rules of waiting in line! I try to kindly tell them, but they ignore me (waiting in line for characters). So... I simply tell a CM, and they take care of it! It's funny to watch the CM explain the "rules" of waiting in line to them!;)

Remember also in Europe queuing in groups like that is not done in an orderly fashion. Even at airports.. when they make the boarding call.. everyone just moves forward towards the ticket taker.. no single file line at all. It works fine, everyone just merges together. But if you have people who staked out land so they can be first.. obviously they are going to be miffed.
