Questions about The Yeti

Why? Because Disney can just make a bunch of the same plush and sell it on both coast. One for the Matterhorn and one for Everest.

It's a cost cutting measure...
That's the answer right there!

I think the real reason is that they don't want to give away what the Yeti looks like before peole even experience the attraction.

By the way, Montu, I may be wrong, but I believe the Yeti is the same height as the Lava monster, if not larger. I don't know how they compare motionwise though, I have seen neither in person.

Beyond that, I don't perticularly appreciate your constant negativity of Expedition Everest. If you dislike it, that's your opinion, but you seem to like convincing others to feel the same way as you. We just got an elaborately themed $100 million attraction that's 199 feet tall and features one of the best audio animatronics in the world. If you feel that WDW's been cheated or that the $100 million was poorly spent, then I think you either need to lower your standards or become an Imagineer and create a better attraction yourself. Disneyland just got an extremely low tech darkride using the same track, building and cars as the old attraction which cost under $20 million, and they are terribly excited. I don't understand the people who feel that Expedtion Everest is not a great attraction, but I will not try to mak other people feel this way. People will create their own opinions and it is none of my business what that opinion is, and I have absolutely no right to try to change or influence it. I think you would fare well to understand this philosophy, but again, it is none of my business.

It's ok to have a negative attitude (though people tend to feel more open to a positive one), but it is not ok to spead it around. We understand that you dislike this attraction, and we are tired of hearing about it. Find something else to post or don't post at all.

Thank you, and have a Magical Day  .

I still say the Stitch AA is more impresseive in terms of movement.

Yes the yetti moves his arms fast, with a fan and strobe light effects it does look like he's moving fast. No smell, and he's not nearly as big as the hype made him out to be. I was thinking more king-kong from universal here.

Is it back to moving again? It has been a while since I've been on there but the last time it was completely stationary with the strobe light on it.

I actually like this "bump"! It's interesting to see EE riders first posts and impressions of the Yeti. But, like a good horror movie, I want to yell to them " Enjoy the moving and fully functional Yeti now, 2006 riders, because the end is near.....!!

I like the post from CRESENT_FRESH. He says that the HM will always be his favorite, but EE with the working Yeti is a close second. Wonder if he feels that way in 2014............

When did the Yeti actually stop moving?

A few months after the official opening.

WOW That quick? If that's the case, then the blame for this mess is placed solely on the Imagineers. The cracking/deteriorating concrete base was not a result of age or use, rather poor weight calculations on their part....

If that is even the problem. What is wrong has never been officially confirmed.

Wow, I didn't look at the date when I posted on this after it was bumped. I thought it was something new that the started some movement on it again. I know that they did try some slower movements but they stopped that also.

I thought they said that it was the force that was generated from the swatting was the cause of the failure. It was more powerful than they assumed it was.

3. The Yeti moves extremely fast in my opinion. (Well at least his arms do) This part is very impressive. I was expecting a much slower Yeti. For a comparison move your hand in front of your face as if you were swatting a fly and that is how fast the Yeti moves. Very Fast.

Now I'm depressed.

I thought that Lee, or maybe it was Martin, said that the problem with the yeti was that the
manufacturer didn't lube the gears and that the people who installed it didn't realize that and
ran it without lubricant. I don't know if this is true or not, but I believe this is what I
remember as the possible cause. OK all the "lube" jokes can start now. :D

I believe is was @Lee that stated that.

A number of attempts have been made to restore some movement to the Yeti. Sadly , all have been unsuccessful. Right now I think the only hope is that Disney will be able to shut down E:E for a major refurb after Pandora has been open for a little while.

This is what happens when you build a theme park with way too few attractions... each one is so important to guest experience that if one goes down there are huge complaints. The seriously need to add attractions to this park... I am hoping Pandora will help, but it still needs more to make it a complete day park...

I have always taken issue with AK only being a 1/2 day park. The 1/2 day description is only accurate if you just run from ride to ride. AK has so much more to offer than that. The bad part is the average Disney guest is not really looking for those extra things that AK offers making the description accurate for many people.

Well having nothing open after dark and the park closing at 5:00 has a lot to do with people thinking it is a half day park as well...And while I agree there are all sorts of small things to do, larger experiences are fewer than other Disney parks... EPCOT and Hollywood Studios could both use more attractions...But Animal Kingdom had the least amount.

Quite correct.
