Questions about The Yeti

I thought that Lee, or maybe it was Martin, said that the problem with the yeti was that the
manufacturer didn't lube the gears and that the people who installed it didn't realize that and
ran it without lubricant. I don't know if this is true or not, but I believe this is what I
remember as the possible cause. OK all the "lube" jokes can start now. :D
That is one (of several) things I've been told.
Never confirmed, but plausible.

Wow, I didn't look at the date when I posted on this after it was bumped. I thought it was something new that the started some movement on it again. I know that they did try some slower movements but they stopped that also.

I thought they said that it was the force that was generated from the swatting was the cause of the failure. It was more powerful than they assumed it was.
And again, complete failure on designers for not calculating and understanding what they had built....

Wouldn't gears and motors be a lot simpler to replace and refurbish? Some type of structure failure or compromise would logically seem to be the cause for an indefinite shutdown...but I am basing this on nothing other than my own thoughts...

Agreed.
I tend to think its a mechanical issue concerning the whole apparatus.
